3 teachers bullied my emotionally fragile daughter, caused her to have test anxiety and the Principal blamed it on my daughter. Causing enough ruckus I was able to get her out of those teachers’ classes. Run as far away as you can. Awful school. Don’t let the high rating fool you.

Been going to this school for 5 years. Finally had enough and pulling my kids out. Class rooms too large. They Lost my kids more than two times and had the audacity to spin it like it was my fault for relying on the faculty to actually know where my kids were while at school. They don’t care if your child struggles and if he/she does don’t expect them to do anything about it. The principal does not care she is only doing lip service til your kids are out of her school. They lost a ton of kids and funding including Art program and technology program in the past 5 years and have done nothing to fil the gap. The teachers do not communicate at all unless you CC everyone in the administration. The transparency is nonexistent, do not expect anything they tell you to be the truth about what they actually do/teach. Find another elementary school- there are much better ones than this one.

Average. Class sizes are too large. Heavy focus on passing the FSA versus teaching everything needed. Teachers talk about solutions but hard for them to act on it. Not a great experience after 3 years. We've decided to remove our daughter from the school.

My daughter complete 5th grade in the Dual Language program. She had transferred from another school in Davie. This school offered her the amazing opportunity to participate in a Dual Language program to refine here Spanish skills while completing 5th grade. The school environment is very nice and the community of parents is very invested in the children's success. Sorry I could not have attended earlier in my daughter's schooling.

My experience with my daughter was not the best. Horrible teacher experience. There are good teachers but there are other teachers who are really disruptive with children. The Principal does not want to hear it neither offers any help or alternatives. Pretend to care but not true.

School does not give the children their 15 minutes of recess everyday. They take away recess as a punishment and often claim they are to busy for recess. Elementary children need recess.

I have 2 Boys that go to this school. @nd & 1st grade. Teachers are top notch. Curriculum in strong. We dealt with a minor bullying issue which was stopped after the very first meeting with the teacher. Yes, we have heard some teachers are tougher on the kids, but for the most part, with a little research those classes can be avoided. I would say 8 out of 10 teachers are great.

This school is so great. Both my daughters attend here. They have had such wonderful teachers who are caring and nurturing but also know how to get the job done and get them ready for the next school grade. The principal and vice principal are team leaders. They have a great way with the parents and teachers. As a parent I am always well informed and much of the information that is sent home is also online incase a parent or student misplaced it.

This is my child second year in this school, my experience last year was good but now I'm more than happy with my son's (fifth grade) teachers.
Definetly no school is perfect, but I think the teachers are held to a high standard. The environment is secure and teachers manage any bulling cases (that I have had knowledge) quickly and discreetly for both parties.
PTA does so much for the students and teachers.
Everybody will have different opinions base on their own experiences, in my opinion is a very good school.

The review below is an excellent example of why you need to do your research before deciding to send your child to this school. The review, by a teacher, no less, is an excellent example of the tone-deaf-to-concerns/criticism attitude you are likely to encounter from both teachers and administration. Notice how the review seeks to discredit the negative reviews by implying the reviewers themselves are somehow "negative", as opposed to caring, concerned parents who had a legitimately bad experience. "Disgruntled" is another word I've seen thrown around. I would never imply a positive review was posted by someone who was getting "paid off." I accept the positive reviews at face value. But when you see a teacher attempting to circle the wagons by trying to drown out the concerns with positive reviews, rather than showing an interest in finding ways to make the school better, well, you can see precisely the experience I and numerous others have had as parents, and have seen children go through as well. Complaints? Concerns? Dismissed. If you want to applaud the school, great. But take parents' concerns seriously, please!!

As a parent and teacher at Manatee Bay Elementary, I am proud to say that this is an excellent school. My two children have loving, caring teachers who are providing them with an excellent education. In my own classroom, I treat all of my students with kindness and respect. I always treat my students exactly how I want my own children to be treated. It is a shame that there are so many negative people posting on this website. No school is perfect! For the most part, the parents at Manatee Bay are happy with the education and environment at the school. I am going to encourage my parents to add their ratings to this website so others can see the positive as well as the negative. Don't be scared off by negative comments. I know what this school is like, and I am proud to be a parent and teacher at Manatee Bay Elementary.

The school has a nice environment, meaning good families and good kids. There are very good teachers But there are also the ones that are not happy teaching, working for their check only or as a hobby. Also there are some teachers with emotional/past issues that should not be teaching small children. This is the worst part because nothing is being done about those teachers. The principal's attitude is pro teacher and shebelieves that by some magical power these women will change. Wrong! As a principal she should look into the kids best interest. The principal is either naive or pretends to be as if nothing happens with the bad actions of teachers. I have heard several times teachers talking about parents, saying that rich parents this and that. There is a big complex and resentment that should be gone. Most families now are hispanic and American middle class people worrying about their kids at school. I have being 3 years at the school And I have not met any brats parents. I believe that it is time for a new principal that is not afraid of teachers, does not ally with the wrong teachers and works with parents to make a better place for the kids.

I know parents that enrolled in the Voluntary Program and are "class moms" just to be there and watch the teacher with the kids. The School tr es really hard the "No bullying" policy. But some teachers just don't care. And most of the times the kids that get bullied (most of the times by girls from other classes) are the ones grounded for defending themselves from the bullies. And to top of that, they get evaluated for that behavior in their report cards at the end of the quarter. Academically, it's a great school. But they have to improve in the way they apply the policies and perform the evaluations that involve "Growth and Study". Like the previous review, we're talking about kids. And each one is different from the other.

This is an amazing school. Highest FCAT scores out of all Broward County Public Schools last year. Teachers are amazing. PTA does so much for the students here too. Also we were the only school in Broward County nominated for the National prestigious award called the Blue Ribbon Award. I would not go anywhere else. I love this school.

It seems obvious to me that the one and two star ratings are from a disgruntled parent, who is the minority at the school. I have 3 children there and we really enjoy the school and the teachers. Manatee Bay is number one in Math and one of the only schools in the county up for a Blue Ribbon Award. I frequently volunteer at the school and not just in my own childrens' classes, but in others classes where they need help and I have not witnessed any bad behavior from any of the staff. Yes, there is a lot of fundraising, but the school receives no funding for technology because they are an A rated school. All the funding goes to schools with lower ratings. It has nothing to do with the median income of the surrounding area. All the negative publicity around the PTA was also from one disgruntled parent with an agenda. I like the school and I like the principal. The teachers are very tech savvy and easy to get a hold of via email when your child forgets their homework assignments. No school is perfect, but I find the teachers are held to a high standard. We actually turned down the Pines Charter schools because Manatee Bay had higher test scores.

My son is in second grade and my little one starts kindergarten next year. We have had wonderful, caring teachers who put children first and have a passion for teaching. The principal and assistant principal are visible and available all the time. They go above and beyond for the school and students. Wish there was more parental involvement but maybe that will increase next year.

Manatee Bay is a wonderful school, my son had 5 years in this school and him experience was great!! Especially with Miss Mendez, Mrs Fatima Dager and Mrs. Allyssa Bloch.

Awful school, principal just wants money for programs that used to be free. We need to write to the state and ask for an explanation of why the principal does not have money and is asking parents. This is a public and free school. We should not be asked for money for programs such as Accelerated Reader and make our kids walk for something they deserve free. This is taking them away from learning time. We demand that the principal explains to us why there is no money at this school and all the other schools here in weston have money.

This is a great school!!! We movrd to FL last year. My kids were in private school (one of the best in our country), they adapted quickly. My daughter is in 5th grade now, and she tells me that this school is much better, in terms of teaching aspects and activities. She has to study a lot more, but she tells me that her teachers are very committed with the students. The antibullying policy is strongly enforced. Once a student complains, the situation is immediately resolved. My kids love their teachers. Mr. Schumann is great!!!! And my daughter's teachers are the best. It's very disciplined environment. I love it!!!!

We have been moving around the Country every two years and we had the opportunity to sent our kids to best school districts . This School was the worst experience that we had so far, teachers humiliating kids in front of others, sending them to walk under the sun with more than 100 degrees because they did not complete a homework or task, what is this ???? Please be aware to send your kids to this school, and more if you have one attending 5th grade. Not recommended at all.

I have 3 children that attend MBE. Overall from my experience, I am satisfied with the school. I have heard horrible stories about the principal and some teachers. I think these teachers forget that they are teachers and it just becomes a paying job not about the passion for the kids. One thing I don't like is that this school is always begging for money. They think because we live in "Weston" that every family is wealthy. The PTA gives the room parents a template letter to hand out to all classes asking for $25. Then comes the ridiculous fundraisers asking parents to donate $50 or your hold is left out from the rewards. The field trips are overpriced. You are sent home a list of what gifts the teachers want and don't want. Aftershock activities are $250 each club and now FCAT camp is about $200. I can not afford this with 4 children so my kids are at a disadvantage and not able to participate at a PUBLIC school. I even had one teacher send at least 10 emails asking for holiday donations for other teachers. If you did not send in the money your child is left out when all the other kids are signing the card in class.

I am surprised that the negative comments entered are not investigated by the Broward County School Board. There are some horrible teachers at the school, while others are very dedicated. My child was treated unfairly by his first grade teacher and when I requested that he be transferred to another class, the principal refused to do so. I had to remove my child because he was being emotionally scared. My child is now home schooled and is doing excellent. He is confident, happy and is excelling at his school work and the county testing. I certainly do not wish to send him back to that school when I cannot home school him anymore. The experience was just too traumatic for my son and me.

One of my children just went into middle school. First of all, they teach only to the FCAT. In first grade, my child's teacher told her class the first week of school that if they didn't pass the SAT's, they would not be promoted. My child came home hysterical and that set the tone for the rest of her time at this school with stomach issues and stress of the possibility of not being promoted. Then, when she was in 4th grade, she was bullied by her 3 teachers. The worst experience ever! Thanks to this school, my child doesn't like school and it's a struggle to keep her motivated. Some of the teachers are really good, but you have to sift through them to find the good ones since there are some really bad ones.

Its Michael Robertson and i'm just saying hi to any of my past teachers that see this and thank you. Especially, Mrs.copper, Mrs. Velez, Mr.Allison, and Mrs. Biner (i think i spelled the last teacher wrong). By he way this school is amazing!!!

I have had both my boys go through Manatee Bay and I have been very active in volunteering. I believe it is so important to volunteer in your child's classroom and at other activities as often as you can so you can keep you finger on the pulse of what is going on in the classroom, other students and it helps to keep informed. If you NEVER volunteer how can you stand in judgement as to the environment??? The PTA has done an exceptional job in offering the children fun and educational activities. I must say I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the education my children have received. Of course some teachers are better than others but you have to expect that. The front office has changed a lot over the years and they are extremely helpful and caring. The new principal has provided a very warm environment that any child would enjoy and a fantastic learning eopportuniy for those who take advantage of all that is offered, she is very accessible. Unfortunately you can't please everyone.

My son was a reassignment student in Manatee Bay Elementary. He was scrutinized because he was not from the community. They were racial comments made to him in school. And to make matters worse, he was constantly marked late without any proof, since tardiness is marked by the discretion of the teachers. If the teacher does not like your child, watch out. I reported these issues to the principal who did not believe that my son was targeted. Finally after being marked 31 times late I withdrew my son from Manatee Bay. I believed this would have been a wonderful school, but it is only wonderful if you are not of color. I would never recommend this school for any reassignment child and especially if you are of color.

This is by far the best elementary school around! The staff is friendly & teachers are very involved. My son is in the first grade & helps a family friend (who's in the 2nd grade & at a different school) with her homework. It's not breezy curriculum, they are challenged which I love. If I could grade it higher I would have.
