I hate this school with a passion .the administration staff , teachers, principals and assistants principals. Suck trash . My daughter is not young lady . Ppl bully her she tells teacher they dont care. She has an {IEP} the specialist dont help . They help nobody but themselves. I hate this . Parents send your children to a better school then Middleton high school. Middleton high school success rate terrible and 3.8 not even a 4.0 . Let your children go to school. Where there is success . I am a 11th grader at Middleton High School. I had joined this school under the impression of the engineering magnet program. When i was a freshman, the school was really good and very entertaining. However, the same cannot be said for the 11th grade, the current grade level I am. On the first day of 11th grade, the staff had ruined people's schedules completely, especially 11th graders. There were missing magnet classes, missing periods, repeating classes (have the same class for two periods). For an entire week I have been sitting in the auditorium and Media center, constantly trying to get the missing magnet class and missing period I have. When it was finally time for me to talk to the guidance counselor, I was added into random classes that were not related to engineering in the slightest. They also still did not add a magnet class for me. So I sit here again, waiting for another appointment with the counselors who are so careless. Also btw, the counselors are really bad, they are careless and very selfish, they will not take the extra time to put you in the correct class. I feel that the counselors focus on efficiency rather than actually putting their students in the right class.

This school is FAVORITISM! If you’re not Indian or don’t have lots of money they won’t listen to you. They say everyone matters but when it comes to needing help from them you can tell who they pick and choose! And forget about it if you’re child is not in the magnet program which they LOVE to spoil they won’t help your student!

Most and certain adults at this school have favorites and do not grade fairly. If you are not a loud or popular student, the adults will not pay any attention to you or your progress. Students are obviously separated by race but only to a certain amount, and it's sad and weird. Still a few good people though. I feel bad for any new and current Minorites attending this lame cockeyed school.

I would NOT recommend Middleton High School to anyone. The school suffers from a severe lack of teachers, which means overcrowded classrooms and limited help for students who actually want to learn. The shortage in staff not only affects the quality of education but also the safety of the students, which is a major issue here. I’ve seenf students bringing weapons onto campus, and the administration seems unable—or unwilling—to do anything meaningful about it. On top of that, violence between students is rampant and often overlooked, making the school environment feel unsafe and chaotic.

To make matters worse, there have been unsettling instances of teachers behaving inappropriately with students, which the administration seems to sweep under the rug rather than address directly. It’s honestly disturbing and unfair to students who just want a safe place to learn. I wish I could say something positive about this school, but Middleton needs serious reforms. Until that happens, I would stay far away.

LEADERSHIP is a 2 star...
When a student is failing, out of courtesy no one notifies you of this or any support afterwards. It seems Counselors are only worried about college information and higher classes(do not respond to emails). Some teachers will keep you informed (Edsby) while others do not respond at all.
Otherwise this STEM school is good for the students which I give 4.5 stars. Love that the Parent/Teacher Conference dates/notifications have been sent out in advance.

I am not a fan of homework in general, it is a tool for a teacher to see if his/her students are getting the material. This school is similar to any other school my child attended

Most of my child's teachers put in good effort and taught the material needed in the tests. But the electives for the Medical Science Magnet where sub par, teachers left during school year (17/18) and the new teacher was not up for the challenge to really dive into Genetics.

This is our child's third year attending and again her schedule is incomplete, leaving her anxious about loosing a chosen elective, because everything needs to move to put her in the required classes. Also class size went up to 37/over 40 in some AP classes. This is to make money, as AP courses pay the school, but is not in the best interest of the students taking these classes. They are also required as part of the magnet, so the kids can't opt out of an overcrowded class. The administration is not communicating with parents about the challenges in assigning schedules, keeping and hiring quality teachers.

I have wanted to pull my child out from this school since the first year, but my daughter insist that the STEM label will help her college application and she has made friends at the school. I do not know if the other high schools in the county are equally bad at assigning schedules and teacher retention, but I wish we had stayed in a charter school. I realize that there were budget cuts and some of that money has to be now spend on guards instead of counselors and teachers, but something like a schedule should be doable for all returning students.

I highly recommend avoiding this school. The administration has no clue how to run a school or control its students. In my experiences, many of the teachers do not know what they are doing and if they do, they are clueless when it comes to teaching a class (looking at two magnet teachers in particular). The only reason that the grades are held at an average mark is because the magnet students are there to hold them up. The only thing that I have gotten from this school is a terrible GPA and even if I work extremely hard there is no way that I can recover from that and the severe mental damage that I have gotten from attending this school. Do not attend Middleton High School.

I am in the Biomedical and Engineering magnets at Middleton High School and I have to say that both magnets are extraordinary. The magnet teachers often have experience in the field really know their stuff. There is a lot of project-based work involved in the magnet program, but it work that I consider fun. Magnet programs at Middleton give you experience in the field and give you an advantage in college. As of this year, Middleton is the only internationally STEM certified high school in the state of Florida. It also has 7 robotics teams (1 FRC, 3 FTC, and 3 VEX). Middleton also has many other STEM-related clubs, including TSA, FBLA, Mu Alpha Theta. Sports are pretty much open to everyone, but they aren't the school's strong point. Kids often push each other to do better in academics and also support each other. Most people seem to get along well and bring each other up, embracing the uniqueness and individuality of others. Middleton has a CNC mill, a plasma cutter, and multiple 3D printers. The curriculums for the Engineering and Biomedical magnets are created by PLTW and are very strong curriculums that are fun instead of just tedious.

My son was lost before he came to this school and now he has many good friends and has found his way. I don't know how much of that is the school and how much he just matured, but the school deserves at least some of the credit. Highly recommend 8th graders that have any interest spend 1 to 2 days shadowing at the school to see if it is right for you. The robotics program is world class, but FBLA and TSA clubs are also quickly becoming known for producing state and national champions. The best thing for my son is the acceptance of the geek culture. That is what I think is helping him grow and figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. Also, don't think the Game Design magnet is an easy magnet. Although not as challenging as the Engineering (offered at Middleton) and IB programs (offered at other schools), it does teach important skills. If your child is a real overachiever, consider joining 2 magnet programs and watch him or her accomplish things you never thought possible. Last week my son saved me $300 from buying a new LED TV. He used what he learned to repair my old TV (it had a bad board).

The magnet program at this school is top notch. We are very happy that our son is attending this school. The faculty and staff do a great job. The principal is very committed to student success.

My school is Middleton high school,The land of the tigers,The one who never fall always rise up. Since I came to Middleton high school my dream start become real, A place where everyone is somebody, A school that show everyone future, A place that you feel real like a person not an animal, A place where everyone like not dislike, A place where you always see a better future above in the sky passing by. Middleton STEM Magnet High School was one of two black Tampa high schools before integration. Pride from alumni and the black community rallied to raise their alma mater to a school with high expectations. The 12-year old new Middleton facility is an award- winning campus design with a large grassy central courtyard. Hillsborough County School District (the 4th largest in the USA) has committed their STEM high school resources to Middleton. At Middleton, over 30% of the students are enrolled in a magnet major. My experience is that my child is strong in technology but low in reading. He thrives from the balance of Middleton s challenging STEM classes with a strong reading proficiency program geared to students with low performance. The rigor of taking 8 credits (two classes per year) of Computer Technology has kept him focused on academic classes. Over the last 12 years Middleton's priority has been on safety, high expectations, great leadership and STEM enrollment. Athletics was not a #1 priority in the school culture. This enables average athletes to participate on a sports team for fun, exercise and commitment to Middleton Pride.

My son is in the engineering magnet program and will graduate in 2014. He turned down IB to go to Middleton and it was definitely the right choice! The engineering curriculum is intensive and the faculty is awesome. He is also involved in the robotics program, which has been very successful over the past few years with teams earning a bid to the world championship for the past 3 years. (His team actually won the world championship in 2012, and were runners-up in 2013!) Middleton truly focuses on trying to ensure the every child has the opportunity to be successful, whether magnet or traditional.

MHS has a culture promoting post secondary education for students of all skill levels with halls named for colleges and universities and a forward thinking administration and guidance staff. We boast national award winning US FIRST robotics team, and nationally recognized FBLA, FFA, and INTEL science students. Our magnet valedictorian in 2012 received a full ride scholarship to Columbia University and her immediate predecessor in 2011 earned a full scholarship to MIT. The teachers and staff at all levels are terrific to work with and communications with staff is excellent. In the past 3 years this school has elevated it's state rating from D to B status due to the culture of respect and learning at the admin level. There is a diversity of students and emphasis on STEM education. A variety of AP and dual enrollment courses are offered to students up for the challenge. MHS is a great school!

Middleton is a great school that is improving every year. The amount of magnet students is rapidly increasing, and my experience there has been nothing short of fantastic.
