Poor administration and how they run the school. Teachers are constantly turning over. There is no communication to parents. Lacks safety and they quite frankly don't want to be bothered by safety concerns.

When my first born was a year and a half old, we had to start looking for daycare for him and being a first-time mom, this was incredibly stressful for me. The more daycares we visited, the worse I felt. Every place had the feeling of being a kid prisons with cribs lined along the walls, kids crying and screaming and daycare workers that looked like they could not wait to get out of there.

Then we found Tides! Immediately my husband and I felt the calm, the peace, the love that the school carried with it. Yes, we always called it school and not daycare. Tides is not a “daycare” that just keeps your kids alive and fed while sometimes singing the ABC’s. It is a carefully planned out environment that allows children to grow and explore their world in age-appropriate ways. They support the whole child and not just the “academics”. In the toddler classroom, things like self-care, washing hands, cleaning up after oneself, toileting, vocabulary, relationships with peers, recognizing emotions and starting to learn how to deal with them, takes just as much priority as learning colors, shapes, numbers, letters.

The owners and staff are people that I know cared very much for my kids. Their employee turnover is incredibly small. In the 5 years we were part of the school, we saw very few teachers leave and even most of the assistants were a constant. The owners are caring small business owners that have a passion for what they do. The teachers, or guides as they would often be called, (they don’t stand up and lecture at the kids, they guide the students to do their own self-exploration) are incredible. We ultimately had 3 children going to Tides at one time and unfortunately COVID rocked our world and continuing at the school was not possible for us anymore. However, I cannot be more grateful that my children got to experience Tides, as their first ever school experience. I’m 100% confident that the foundation this school laid in my kids, will stay with them for years to come. It built confidence, independence, and a love of nature and life.

So far we have been very pleased with the school, but always feel like there could be more. Overall the education is great and the teachers very capable, but the head of the school is not communicative and often information is not disseminated well to parents.
