the school is fine if you are able to fit in. but the moment you stand out nobody can bear you. I have been physically abused for years infront of teachers and students and the principal even will not do anything about sexual assault. do not recommend

I would like to say yes when asked, "would you recommend this school", however the answer is, "no". There are no words to fully contextualize the amount of dissatisfaction my family and others have and are experiencing with the administration presently in place. The fact that positioned adults target, bully and ostracize their students, and by default their families, without consequence is disgusting. Students and families being afraid to report their legitimate concerns to others is a clear indication of concerning leadership. My child is experiencing symptoms of repeated bullying such as weight loss and lack of appetite, he no longer wants to go to school for fear of being under the administration's microscope. He repeatedly earns AB honor roll, and recently won the school spelling B, an overall great student and person. It is unquestionably an unhealthy environment and my family and I are exploring other resources at this time. Do your child a favor and research this school before taking a leap of faith.

I was a student in Grace Lutheran from 5th to 6th grades. This school has great teachers, students are all nice, and education is fun. Grace Lutheran was, actually, my first school in America and so I didn't speak English at the time. The school really helped me to get through this and now I speak English in perfection. I would really recommended this school because it makes learning fun. And everyone has a chance to excel.

My son and I love Grace. We've been going to this school since the Pre-K. All the teachers are super nice, kind and caring. I like that my son has a chance to go to chapel and learn about God. I also like that the academic curriculums are on a higher level compared to schools in the area. My son wakes up excited every morning to go to school, always wants me to take him in early. I would definitely recommend Grace Lutheran to any one that wants safety, better education and tons of love and care for their children.

Our experience at this school has been nothing but wonderful. Our son attended Grace School from 5th to 8th Grade and he is so very sad to not attend beyond 8th grade. His classmates, teachers, principal and other faculty, became like one big family. And even though he is graduating 8th grade, he always made friends with kids in lower grades as well. He felt comfortable and secure at the school. We will greatly miss Grace Lutheran School.

Students do most of learning and school work in school so they are not bombarded with lots of homework. It's just the right amount. They have time to come home and enjoy time with family or extra curricular activities.

Grace Lutheran School and Church is not only a place for my children to grow and succeed, but a family. I am never fearful my children won't gain a great education while there, but they have also made life long friends and learned so much both academically and socially. I highly recommend this school to anyone that asks! Go Eagles!

The amount of homework given is relative to the students grade level. I have a child in the 6th grade and she never has hours of homework. She is always prepared to get the homework done and still has time to play sports and be active in the church and with family. I would say homework isn't an issue and is appropriate for each age and grade.

The teachers at grace are like our second family. we are fortunate enough to be members of the church as well and I can say we call many of these teachers our personal friends as well. They treat each student as they were their own children. They relish in their successes and strive to keep from any amount of failure. They are always accessible and willing to help out at the drop of a hat. Success is their only option for all of their students!

Character building is the foundation of this school. Academics are of upmost importance, but creating wholesome, Christian-valued children are also of importance. The students learn how to succeed while learning to laugh and love each other, themselves, and God.

The leadership team at Grace is highly effective. They do not tolerate bullying or any behaviors that are a nuisance to the school. They always listen to all sides of the stories to gain an unbiased view of issues. They are engaged in the students lives and want only the best for each student. The pastoral staff serves as leaders to the students as well and continue to help each student grow in their faith throughout their education.

I don't personally have experience with this with my children, but I do know they offer help for those in need. They would never turn a student away, yet try to make sure they have everything they need for success.

Our number 1 priority is ensuring that our children attend Grace Lutheran. Our lives were changed for the best when we decided to walk in to their open house prior to my son attending kindergarten. He is now in 5th grade and our daughter is in VPK. It gives us such a peace of mind knowing that when they walk in to school each and everyday they are greeted and interactive with teachers, staff and students that genuinely care about them and their well-being. Where else would you have a teacher come to your child's sporting event, baptism, home to visit and take a deep concern when personal events occur, no matter good or bad. I also know that they are challenged in a great way. I've compared my son's homework to other children's work at this same level and the challenge is there, but the teacher and aides are also available making sure they understand the work and caring about my child.
This school continues to impress our family and friends, even those that do not attend it. I could not imagine my children attending another school. Oh how I dread graduation day!

My children have attended Grace for 7 years. I am amazed at their growth, both academically and spiritually. The teachers truly minister to students and their families, working with families to foster each child's achievement. Our son has life-threatening medical needs which have influenced scheduling, work load, testing procedures and more. His teachers have not only been willing to make accommodations, but a few have even sought detailed education in his care to better facilitate his independence in the school day and extracurricular school activities. I know many teachers provide before and after school tutoring across grade levels to provide enrichment or remediation.

Grace Lutheran School is a Christ centered atmosphere for learning. When Biblical principles are the focus - integrity, compassion, and respect, are a given. The teachers reflect these character traits and model them to their students. My son's health makes him "different" than other children, but his differences are not a focus or distraction because of the support from teachers and peers.
More importantly, when children fall short of behavioral expectations, forgiveness is given with love and hope for improvement.

As mentioned before, my son's medical needs at times impact learning. We have met with teachers each year to discuss accommodations and have received appropriate assistance when needed to ensure his success. Teachers have even contacted me when my son needed to retake a test or redo an assignment because, knowing him so well, they knew his health must have impacted his work as he was not preforming within his capabilities. I can only hope and pray my son will receive the same care and concern for his physical and academic well being when he moves on to high school in a few years.
My daughter presents difficulty with attention, but she has blossomed in her 3rd and 4th grade years. The classroom atmospheres provide so many beneficial alternatives to learning while supporting and challenging her to be and do her best!
Tutoring options are available across grade levels before, during, and after school to provide learning support for students with learning differences.
I believe the school goes above and beyond typical expectations to foster achievement for each child.

Grace Lutheran School has been a second home for my children for 8 years. The administrator, pastors, faculty, and staff work as a family unit themselves and become extended family to their students. I don't believe my son would have been as successful in another school because of the care and concern needed for him to succeed in spite of his challenging medical needs. He feels like a "normal kid" at Grace.
My daughter loves this school too. She is intellectually curious by nature and comes home every day excited about what she is learning.
This place of Grace is a blessing to my family and our community! At Grace, I know my children are safe, loved, and valued.

One of my children struggles in class and can be disruptive at times. They attend to this issue very well and are very informative with letting me know whats going on and we work together in trying to help him.

I love this school. I have 2 children here and we are on our 2nd year and about to re-enroll for another.
They truly care for the children and their families. I have one child who struggles in class, and they have gone beyond anything I could have asked for in helping him.

My daughter graduated at Grace, finished high school and is now in college, her years there were wonderful. Now with my son I have gone through the worst nightmare. My son has been facing a year of serious changes in our family what has made him struggle academically due to high stress at a young age, the school simply left him behind before even trying to help him succeed. My son begged me every morning not to take him to that class. It was very hard to explain him the importance of school, my heart hurt, but with private tutoring he has his confidence back, he is making progress and I'm taking him out of Grace ASAP because despite his progress the school continues its same position, keeping him away from class activities and calling him disruptive.

My son was struggling completing his assignments due to some serious family problems, the school was not supportive, rather gave him a zero on his report card and wanted to retain him in the grade (since the beginning of the year) without giving him the chance to improve. Private tutoring raised his self confidence again and his willing to strive.

The teachers' approach was like looking at the glass half empty. Their choice (since the middle of the first quarter) was to retain him rather than encourage him to reach his goals.

This school is exactly the opposite of supporting someone with learning differences. I'm so disappointed with my decision to put my son at Grace Lutheran. They gave up on him before even trying to help him believe he could, they made him feel a loser.

What can you say...homework is homework. No one I ever knew would say they enjoyed doing homework but it's was amazing to watch as my son progressed year to year. What was instilled in him from the beginning continued with him all the way through High School. Learned something myself along the way and that is allowing the child to do the work but letting them know you are there to support and guide them. Starts the path for making them think things out on their own. You'll appreciate it down the road.

Every teacher is different but I found that as my son progressed through his 9 years at Grace there wasn't one teacher that wasn't willing to provide guidance or support to my child when needed.

Grace most definitely develops the more favorable characteristics in your child such as integrity, compassion and respect, and would add accountability to this list. The school instills these values every day with their students but it takes a balance between school and home.

Personal experience. I wouldn't necessarily say it was "bullying" to the extent of the bullying that occurs in the school systems today, but the teacher immediately brought the incident to the attention of the principle. You know kids, especially at a young age won't necessarily speak up due to peer pressure or being labeled as a snitch. The Principle immediately contacted us, making us aware of this incident and assured us it was being handled with the other student and their parents. We were pleased with their immediate no-nonsense proactive response and open lines of communication. We applaud the teacher addressing the issue through the proper channels and not dismissing the action. This was only one occurrence in 9 years at Grace and never heard of any other incidents relating to bullying during this time. It speaks to the integrity, compassion, respect and accountability at this institution.

BEST decision and investment in our son's education!! He started in Kindergarten and now as a Senior at Beaches Chapel he still reflects on his time at Grace. He keeps in contact with alumni, teachers and coaches and attends events at Grace when he can. Students seem to form a bond that continues even after they graduate from Grace. Because of the teachers and leadership at Grace, he has excelled academically and athletically in H.S. and has become a strong young man. Grace Lutheran School partnered with us as a family and played a vital role in helping him achieve his goals. God blessed us by bringing Grace Lutheran School into our lives and appreciate the open doors of their Ministry as well even if we were not members of the Church. We were family!!

My daughter has attended Grace for the last two years. Starting in Prek3 and most recently finishing Prek4.
I cannot say enough good things about this school. My daughter is a little reserved and shy and they have done wonders bringing her out of her shell. The one on one attention is amazing, along with group activities and participation. The teachers are so very caring of all the children attending Grace. They want to see them succeed.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. My children no longer attend Grace Lutheran School. I would be remiss if I did not outline some of the problems: Favoritism, tolerance of bullying (particularly the verbal taunting of those children whose parents do not attend the church or are from different cultural backgrounds), incompetence, poor leadership, and poor follow through. I have witnessed authority figures yelling rudely and loudly in an ugly and highly disrespectful manner at children and reported it to the principle, but noticed no changes in the behaviour of the adults who were demonstrating such abhorrent outbursts.

As a member of the Grace Ministry Team I was saddened by the 9/20/12 post. Following the example of Our Savior, Jesus, Grace strives to engage families from ALL walks of life. Our goal is to PARTNER with parents in education and growing personal relationships with Christ. This requires a certain amount of responsibility not only on the part of our faculty, but on the part of the family as well. Teachers do not have access to a family s financial status and in fact only know what parents share with them. Grace is a place where children are loved because they are a gift from God and we take that responsibility to heart.

Grace Lutheran School is a fabulous school that provides an academically challenging environment and nurturing atmosphere. They have excellent leadership and enthusiastic staff! My children feel AT HOME at Grace. It is a second home to them. The children in class are truly their brothers and sisters. They never wake up and complain about going to school. In fact they were ready for the summer to end so they could get back to school with their friends. We spent 2 years in Duval County Public school and the grass is greener on the other side! The reality of the negative feedback on here is that life is what you make it to be If you want to find the good in the school (which is there!!! It is a wonderful school), but if you don't want to find it you won't. The Lord is blessing this school with wonderful students and staff. I say take a tour and decide for yourself!

Grace Lutheran was once a great school however that is no longer the case. There are several teachers who are more interested in the parents social/financial status then their own students education. If these teachers put the effort into there students to learn as they do with social media's and gossip this school would be better than Harvard. I wish them all the best however my children will no longer be part of a fantasy world the Grace Family tries to convince me of.

We are coming to the close of our second year at Grace. I must say that our experience has been less than stellar. There are lots of children who get away with horrible behavior. I have brought it forth to the principal and he just brushes it off. My son has had to deal with a bully all year. His teacher seemed to be concerned, but once the principal was brought into the situation... I was told there isn't anything to be worried about. Their technology is lacking. They really push athletics... which is a good thing and a bad thing. Academics do not seem to be the priority. Although my son has had a great year academically speaking, I feel as though the school has broken his spirit. His teacher seems very complacent and routine, showing no excitement or compassion. Children need love and support. They need an uplifting environment... not something to tear them down. I am looking forward to next year because I have heard great things about the teacher. Also, the school has a new principal that starts in the fall. Awesome!!!!

As a member of the Grace Ministry Team, it saddens me to know the 8/3/11 reviewer left Grace feeling unloved. I firmly believe that the teachers & staff of Grace cherish each child as a precious gift from God & truly desire for them to recognize their full potential spiritually & academically. We have a vast number of parents who desire to have information at their fingertips. Our web site meets that need. But teachers are always available for one-on-one converstaions with parents. Our educators & principal strive to model and teach a multitude of life skills, including time management, logical thinking, prayerful reasoning and personal responsibility. What may appear a "they don't do much work at school," is actually a way to help prepare our children for High School, College and their future careers. Although I whole heartedly do not agree with the 8/3/11 review, I can say that I have taken it to heart, I have prayed about it, and I consider myself blessed to be a part of Grace Lutheran School.

Grace Lutheran School is a great school for preschool, elementary school and middle school students. The teachers are well educated and caring. The school provides a warm, nurturing, and safe environment for all students. The curriculum is challenging, and the teachers are available to secure the success of the students. We have been a part of the Grace family for 6 years. Our oldest son graduated from Grace last year. Not only was he prepared academically for high school, he was also prepared emotionally and spiritually for the demands of high school. The teachers are available to the students and parents when needed and the principal is one of the best administrators I have seen. He is well respected and loved by the staff, students and parents. For middle school students there is an awesome sports program. In a time when public schools are cutting athletics, Grace offers a variety of sports with a caring coaching staff to prepare the athletes. There are after school clubs, intramurals, band, chorus, and drama opportunities. We could not be more pleased with our experience at Grace. It is a loving place of Grace for our children.

This is our second year at Grace. The teachers are all highly educated and qualified and also devoted Christians. They give attention to ALL the students. The prinicipal is a huge asset to the school. You could not ask for a better man to be in charge. He knows all the students and cares for them deeply. Our pastors also make a huge impact on our students. Grace is a school that teaches the right morals and values that are sometimes lacking in our society today. We also have a supportive PTL that helps raise money through events and gets our name out to the community. The overall curriculum is challenging and really makes the kids THINK. Most of their work is done at school, so if your child is diligent there will be little homework. We feel the website is a real asset and helps us keep up with the schedule of assignments. The teachers make regular contact via email and you can ask for a conference anytime.Then there's the great sports program. Our coaches love the kids! Our home games are always well attended by students, parents and staff. The best part is everyone has fun. Teamwork for these middle school aged kids is such a great part of maturity. WE LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

My husband and I have had children attending Grace for 6 years. We love the faculty and staff. The teachers work with you to help your child have a successful academic experience. The principal is an outstanding individual who is readily available; he listens and addresses parental concerns. How many schools do you see that have teachers and staff who know that each individual is a child of God and treats them as such? God's grace, love and forgiveness are not only taught, but modeled on a daily basis at Grace Lutheran! Our children love their teachers, have made new friends, and look forward to going to school. What a comfort this gives us as parents to know that our children can foster their faith in a loving and nurturing environment.

My kids attended Grace for the first time last year and I was highly disappointed. The teachers are not the caring, nuturing, displaying affection kind. I'm sure they care about them, but it is not shown! If your child is one who needs this, you will not get it! There is A LOT of bullying that goes on in this school and it is seriously overlooked by all even the principal. Many parents have recently pulled their children from this school for various reasons. If your children learns differently, has adhd or anything that needs the teachers help, this is NOT the school for them. The teachers rarely communicate with parents. They use the website for almost everything and.the website is not a good one. There are so many things I could go on about from the teachers, to the grading system, to field trips, work assignments. It appears they don't do much work at school because all work at school is sent home for homework. I thought I was the only one dealing with these issues until other moms began to talk. I was one of many! On the outside it appears to be the school you are looking for until you get in...its completely not what I expected.

If you want your child in a Christian school with organized,positive, dedicated and most of all open minds & hearts teachers and and principal this is the school you want. They have the BESTextra-curricular programs from sports to music leading to students being well-rounded The school is not just focused one aspect but on all in a CHRIST CENTERED setting each and everyday. No exception. I've had my 2 sons attend and would not change a thing except for to add 9-12th grades.

I have been a parent of 2 Grace Lutheran students for the past 4 years. We have participated in every grade except one. I have been very happy with Grace and would highly reccomend the school. The teachers truly care about the students and are available and quick to give help when it is needed. Principal Jackson is the heart of the school and leads the school in providing a Christ centered environment. The academics are very good, but there is so much more to Grace. The students are encouraged to participate in stewardship and community projects. There is an amazing amount of sports offered for such a small school, as well as Spanish, band, choir, keyboarding, bells, music, I could go on. To address the Feb 24 post-yes the teachers have responsiblities outside the classroom, but these talented teachers seem to handle it very well. And what Christian school should not provide scholarships-we are commanded to reach out, maybe that person should attend secular school. I hope you can tell that I have absolutely loved my experience at Grace. I am very happy with the faculty and the principal. If you are searching for a school, I woudl highly reccomend Grace Lutheran.

This is truely a place of Grace. The teachers care and nurture while educating each student. As the pricipal has recently said to me regarding the previous review,"It saddens me that someone would post that publicly, and not at the same time or instead come to talk with me about their concerns. Aside from the fact that it's factually inaccurate in parts (sorry, no full scholarships :), does this person realize that virtually every private school has "extra programs" (not sure exactly what that means) that are supported greatly by volunteers? " Our extra programs include a full athltic department for 5th thru 8th grade. We need volunteers, yes, but we are doing great. Does Grace have problems, yes, as any school does, but the principal will listen and the kids can grow...anything else really needed? If there is you can always go to Rod Jackson the principal, in his words, "...if people want upgrades, I would love to hear what kind of upgrades they would like. .."

We have really enjoyed this school and feel it is a better choice than Sabal Palm or Waterleaf. The community is very close to the parents and the kids are great. The kids learn respect and act very well at this school. I really like the curriculum taught at this school. I recommend you take a look at it. We have moved to Fairfax county schools in VA and I am so glad we did the private school route in Jacksonville FL.
