The school has been the biggest gift for my anxious 3 year old. She is excited to go to school and her teachers genuinely care about her emotional and academic well-being. Communication is exceptional and parent involvement is encouraged. Staff and experiences and there is minimal turnover. We are so grateful to be a JAA.

My kids love there!!
Were so glad we got in!!! Id recommend this school 10/10, this is out third year and its amazing to see my kids growing and loving their school! Such a peaceful environment, a garden for each classroom, classroom pets, each kid has their on work plan and they are not stuck behind a desk!

The class does not work well for 3 year olds. They have too many kids in the classroom (23 kids) with the older needing the most attention towards their academic growth. My daughter's pre kindergarten teachers did not have the patience dealing with younger students.
My daughter was three when she started and I feel like the environment is too strict for a three year old. I think kids that are 4 or 5 might benefit more from the program.
Also, the potty training policy is crazy. She was fully potty trained prior to attending but I think the pressure and anxiety caused her big regression.
Additionally, the after care program is terrible. They lack the people to care for children and they are basically just left in the playground the whole time.
I would recommend this school for the older kids but not for the 3 year olds.

Pre kindergarten teachers lack pre k experience, and patience dealing with younger students. The schedule does not work well for 3 year olds, be weary sending younger kids here.

pre-k has a terribly regressive potty accident policy. 3 accidents in 2 weeks will result in removal from pre-k program with 1 week to find child care.

This is the best elementary school in Duval County. My son came from a private Montessori but we got into financial trouble so we moved him to public. We found JAA off the Magnet Catalogue and we did a tour and I was very impressed by the facilities! My son moved into the school mid-year of 3rd grade which was quite scary for him. My son also has a slight issue with his age as he is born in September. We tested him to see which grade he falls under. As common in Montessori students, he tested at the next grade level making him the youngest student instead of the oldest. We were apprehensive, but were pleasantly surprised that the transition was seamless. Multiple grade levels are bunched up into a class - so grades 1-3 were in the same class - so my son's age was not a problem. And the teachers love it when you come to class and talk to them or help out your child. The school is true Montessori with students doing individual work with workplans, class work with the facilitator, several pets in class and private garden for each classroom. Students are not stuck to a desk. The principal is awesome and communication from principal, teacher, and other parents are constant.

I am truly blessed to have my children attend such a wonderful school! I have a daughter in Kindergarten and a son in Pre-K4. Their teachers have given them a great confidence in learning. My children love to go to school every morning to see Ms. Jenny and Ms. MingI They love to come home to share something new that they have learned. I am blown away on how far my son is progressing! I can't believe that my daughter is picking up concepts that are traditionally above her grade level! These teachers are masters at not JUST teaching a grade level curriculum, but also differentiating lessons to meet the needs of each child individually! If you want your child to not only succeed but also excel in all that they do, then this is the place to be!
