Let me start off by stating that I have 3 stars for Special Education as I have had no experience in this matter with my child. With that being said, I could not be happier with our choice to enroll in this school. For starters, the staff is very engaging. Any questions or concerns we have had were immediately responded to and addressed.
Administration has always had an open door policy and thoroughly walked us through curriculum, safety aspects, and expectations.
The teachers are a whole new level! Not only do I feel my son is getting the best education available, but he enjoys every minute of it! He starts every morning with friendly smiles, upbeat music, and greetings from teachers and staff.
There is a true sense of community as well. Yes, expect to volunteer! However, as an engaged parent, I want this! Whether its spending a few hours reading to the children, helping with crafts, or volunteering for field trips, I feel my time is truly invaluable.
Overall, I am sincerely impressed with the level of professionalism and education my child is receiving in this school and have no doubt that the result will be a productive, compassionate, and educated adult setting a path filled with success.

Trinity School for Children is a wonderful example of the power of family/school partnership! Families are encouraged to volunteer, and students live and breathe the philosophy of the school (Bank Street model). Students are also held to high academic and conduct standards. We couldnt be more happy at Trinity!

This for profit charter school is HORRIBLE. If you are looking for an environment where learning is fostered, students are encouraged to do better, and bullying is not allowed avoid this school at all costs. They will undermine your students confidence with teachers that are uninvolved and vindictive, over-discipline is the only focus, with a new position at the school expressly for disciplining students with conduct violations that are so benign they'd be absurd if it didn't affect the students so much. And they will discipline for anything. If you have contributed to their "voluntary" giving fund, discipline will be overlooked and your student will receive preferential treatment. Teachers will not update grades in a timely fashion and do not respond to emails, and if your student is struggling, expect that to be ignored by all staff.

Former teacher at this school. They dont support you if they think youre not part of their political club. I l was treated like a threat to the religious dogma being pushed constantly by clueless parents who seemed to influence all of the decisions. If you want your child to learn anything do not enroll them here. Its a poorly run school. I since moved on to teaching a respectable Waldorf School where teachers are treated with basic respect and students are encouraged to think critically! Also ,academic standards are upheld! Trinity is a charter school that takes taxpayer dollars and yet pushes narrow minded Christian ideology on everyone!

School is terrible, administrators treat students like animals, assign homework greater than I get in high school taking college classes. The attempt to eliminate discrimination doesnt exist, however teachers and administrators are very strict with littler things like being in the hall. All in all, I would much rather go to a public school and develop genuine relationships than go to a sheltered school that doesnt prepare students at all.

Great school! Every teacher knows every students name. The school is a very clean and welcoming environment. We feel the teachers and staff care about the school and the students. It feels like a family.

There is quite a bit of homework for grades 4- 8 and often in multiple classes which can be stressful for kids. Most homework and school projects require ample parent involvement, which is difficult when both parents are working.

This school only works with kids that fit their mold. If your child doesn't fit their idea of a perfect student they will make your child feel left out. Call you in and make you think there is something wrong with your child.

My experience at this school was awful. The school is very cliquish, it was like being in junior high school all over again. The staff was so rude, the principal was never to be found on school grounds and the one time I had a meeting with her she was the most condescending woman I had ever met in my life. She dared to tell my husband he deserved a pedestal to deal with me. Funny, I was just a concerned mother. That was such a male chauvinistic comment to make and coming from a woman was such a blow. I can't say enough bad things about this school. I pulled my son out and he has thrived in regular public school.

I have been at Trinity for 9 years. I have a son in 6th grade and one in kindergarten. I can not imagine leaving my children with anybody else. Through the years this school has lived and gone trough so much with my children and the support and love they have receive is unmeasurable. My kids have had the same amazing coaches since they have started and my youngest is now having the same teachers my older one had so i dont understand why some people say teachers are leaving. that might have only been one. we are an amazing community. The parents alway have a say and can be part of everything. The principal is ON it. My son has been doing projects and speeches since kindergarten. Yes some of the field trips are expensive and require some travel but you do not have to go or they give you a year in advance to pay for them and it turns out to be and amazing experience for your children. In conclusion We live and breath trinity and i am proud to be a tornado Parent!!!!!!!

I felt the need to write a review for Trinity because when we were researching schools for our children to attend, I was worried about the negative reviews I read on this site. I feel like the majority of these reviews are only from disgruntled parents, and that we should have more positive reviews from parents that are happy with Trinity - so here you go: I have 2 kids at Trinity - the older one attended the Early Childhood program, and will be going into first grade next year; my younger is in her first year of EC. Yes, my kids are young, and I haven't had that much experience with teachers yet - but - EVERYTHING we have experienced thus far has been positive; we couldn't be happier with Trinity. There is a true sense of community, and the kids genuinely care about one another; they call it their "school family." My children are learning SO much, and I have seen so much improvement - especially with my older child - in their behavior. I see lots of complaints about the parent hours - but this is part of why I love Trinity; if you don't want to be involved in your child's education, don't send them to Trinity. The parent hours bring me closer to my children, their classmates, their teacher, the school, other parents--I see nothing negative about this. And yes, they do quite a bit of fund-raising, but it's a charter school; I am happy to give what I can--it's all to better our children's education--they just opened a beautiful new building for the Early Childhood program! I honestly have nothing but positive things to say about this school, and I'm thankful every day that we found such a wonderful place and wonderful people to entrust with our children each day.

This is an "everyone deserves a trophy" kind of school, which as a parent raising children to function at a high level in the real world, does not appreciate. They are disrespectful to working parents by not being organized. Such as on Monday they announce they need me to provide something on Thursday. I use the weekend to run errands and prepare for the week, I would appreciate some notice and if you really don't know on Friday what you need from me next week, what kind of time management skills are you teaching your students? They also don't follow the Hillsborough County School schedule, like most other charter and magnet schools do, so you have your younger children out of school on days when your older ones aren't and vice versa...making day care and family time scheduling a nightmare. Field trip dates have been changed last minute...multiple times. It's frustrating. Most charter schools sell you a patch to iron on to khakis for $5, Trinity insists you buy their expensive uniforms, that have not fit any of my children well, they are not flattering and they are expensive. Their lunch program is very costly as well, if you buy their school supplies it will be 3x what you can buy it at the store for. They continue to adopt classroom pets and then send out guilt emails that the teachers need help with supplies for the pets...if you can't afford them, don't get them, you didn't consult me when you purchased them, but expect me to carry the burden and expense of caring for them? This is exactly the opposite of what I am trying to instill in my children about decisions and responsibility. It is a safe environment with a decent (not great, but decent) education, so I'll give them an average rating and I think ocverall the teachers are caring and kind, it's probably more of a HUGE administration issue. We are attempting to get into a different charter school this year. Trinity is definitely more of a light private school when it comes to the cost of everything involved, but then they hide behind being a public school, where at least if you went to private, you could have a say in how the place is being operated. The word I use for Trinity whenever it comes up is FRUSTRATING. We (along with many of our friends) can not get out fast enough.

Wonderful school, dedicated teachers and staff. Children are encouraged and challenged to do their very best. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Parents are always encouraged to be involved and participate in classroom activities and field trips. My daughter has been in Trinity for two years and we are extremely pleased with every aspect of the school.

Yes. Bullying is taken very seriously here. The school resolves any type of bullying in a very effective way. There's no room for bullying here. I wish every school single in school in Tampa was like this.

The very best teachers this school has are leaving due to frustration with the administration's lack of support and focus on education. To the administration, it's all about the money and the bottom line. Their Academic Apathy has gotten out of control and teachers can not fix that without administration support. Please talk to people who have had children there, or who work there and seriously consider other schools for your child.

Administration has let go of some of the best teachers. Focus is on $$$ not quality of teaching. Large turnover rate. At one time this was an excellent school, but I am glad we chose not to send our child there. Watch out.

At a time when most schools are pushing for stricter classroom guidelines and stressful standardized testing. TSFC does an outstanding job of incorporating hands-on, creative learning into their stellar academics, as well as fun outdoor exercise and play. I am grateful to have a school like this in the Wellswood/Seminole Heights neighborhood.

I'm not involved with the PPA or related to any of the administration or staff. I've attended a few PPA meetings early on and thought everyone was warm and kind. But I've never felt judged for not attending more meetings through the years. I've never felt like an outcast for being an introverted parent. Some of the parents and families at TSFC are close friends (just like any other school), but I've never felt like their behavior was rude, immature or exclusive. For the most part everyone I've encountered at TSFC is approachable and friendly.

Does TSFC ask for money often? Sort of, but hardly any of it is mandatory. The enhancement fund is OPTIONAL. School supplies, classroom party supplies (Halloween, Holidays, etc), Trunk Or Treat, GALA tickets/auctions (which we've never attended), fundraisers (magazine drive, TB Buccaneers tickets, Scholastic Book Fair) are ALL OPTIONAL. Field Studies, Winter Show and Kindergarten/8th Grade Graduation (Tampa Theater) are OPTIONAL. Teacher birthday gifts and Teacher Appreciation are OPTIONAL. Field Day shirts, lunches and snow cones are OPTIONAL. Dress in TB Lightning colors for $1 during the playoffs? OPTIONAL. I know this because we are a one income family and have a child with expensive medical needs. We do what we can, whenever we can. I've never felt disliked or treated unfairly when we could NOT.

Parent hours are not optional. There is a minimum of 30 hours per family or 15 hours for single parents. There are plenty of easy opportunities throughout the year for both working and stay-at-home parents to collect their hours. I've never felt burdened. Uniforms are not optional. And yes they are OMG WTH pricey, just like private schools in the area. So there you go. A valid complaint. Risse Brothers should have a free wine bar.

Give TSFC a try and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. They truly love and believe in their kids. And those kids love the welcoming, inspiring and safe environment this lovely charter school provides.

My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her first two years at Trinity. My husband and I have had a very positive experience with the teachers, assistants, office staff, maintenance staff...everyone! We've met Dr. O'Dea (the school's founder), who is a very kind, positive, and concerned individual and a very visible presence at the school.We have no bias or connection with the school. My comments are merely intended to tell our experience. Trinity teachers take an active interest in students' progress, maintain frequent communication, and host parent-teacher meetings twice yearly. "Experiential learning" includes field trips which help build upon classroom learning experiences and give parents the opportunity to be more involved in their child's education. Trinity's motto is "Citizens improving society". Students are taught to help their "friends" (classmates) and to behave in ways that serve the common good, creating a positive environment.. Bullying is a common problem with jr high students, in general, Trinity makes it VERY clear that students who do not comply with school policies will be dismissed. We have been nothing but very pleased with Trinity! Good luck in your search!

I had 2 children at Trinity. They lack an arts program cafeteria and any real p.e. curriculum. Sports teams consist of mainly "staff's children". Bullying is a problem here. (Yes I know it happens everywhere but after 1 1/2 years and multiple attempts at getting the issue resolved it was still happening). The day after my daughter transferred to Trinity I attended my first PPA meeting. I was ignored and my attempts to share my contacts/business partners were dismissed. The school and "parents" are extremely "cliquey". Anyone not in the clique is an outsider. Homework is excessive, you will be nickle and dimed to death. I chose to pull my daughters out because the administration refused to do anything about the bullying. If you enjoy brown nosing, this is the perfect school for you. If not, find another school. I'm glad we're out and my girls are ridiculously successful and happy at their new "public neighborhood" school. I gave one star because there wasn't an option for no stars. I would give negative stars if I could.

We are ending our first year at Trinity. All of this time at the school and my child still has no idea who her school principal is. She is never walking the building, doesn't appear in the classrooms or make herself known in any way other then a handful of email from her we have received through the school year. I have found this lack of visibility from her very concerning. This school has a lot of expectations from it's families starting with the $500 "Enhancement" they ask of you from day one. Another $100+ for school supplies, a handful of fundraisers through out the year, many requests for classroom donations and the list goes on. Now it seems they are also demanding our time on the weekends as well. I have to skip my Sunday school teachings in order to attend a MANDATORY class play put on by the 4th & 5th grades. I'm sorry, I do not think any school has a right to expect families to give financially all year, the 50 parent hours (but keep on going because they need you) and then demand that you also give up very valuable family time as well. I am very disappointed that the school I thought Trinity was doesn't match what it actually is.

This school is great...if you want to socialize and go on field trips. Totally didn't prepare me for high school. I went to Trinity for lower and middle school and then I went to Tampa Catholic. I have struggled this entire year. I am not a dummy but my class mates that went to public schools were way more prepared than me. So not only did my parents have to pay for private school tuition, they had to pay for tutors to keep me from failing this year.

Great school in comparison to the other traditional "public school" alternatives. While there is no tuition per se there are some costs involved but compared to private schools it is practically nothing, plus there are ways for parents to volunteer rather than paying. The school requires parent participation but for someone really intersted in their children's education that is a GOOD thing!
