I'm a student at Jinks, there is vaping in bathrooms, which leads to the smoke detectors going off and everyone in there being searched, which leads to less class time, fights every other day, some teachers are good at what they do and work efficiently with students hands on, while others neglect the needs of students. I have a 504 plan that has specific instructions and it's been ignored by 3/7 of my teachers, 2 of those classes are electives, making it 3/5. I was suspended for 10 days, (out of school) for something I didn't even do and instead of looking into it I was told "who should we believe you or her." I had never had a referral out of all my school years and it ruined my chances of being a collegiate. I would rather move to rutherford where they actually teach their kids, although both schools have most of the same negatives. There is only one counselor here for 8th graders, and she's been rude and snappy with me every time i've gone to her. A few of my teachers won't answer me or my parents'emails, and when i ask about it, they say "I don't have to" Which you don't, but you should because it's part of what you signed up for. This school sucks.

I will not fault teachers for how their classroom operates - I'm not there, and I would only be able to base the experience off of the recollection of a 12 year old. That being said, I've corresponded with a few teachers via email/chat, and the quality of response I received left a lot to be desired.
It seems that some classes (science in particular) are strictly computer based with a teacher that provides minimal input - my child and I were both frustrated with the lack of student support last year. My child frequently tells me about boys smoking vape pens in the bathrooms, substitute teachers that allow kids they are related to or friends with to come 'hang-out' in the classroom they don't belong in, and constant bullying whether it's in the dirt recess field or in line for lunch; he has also told me about 'couples' making out in classrooms when the teacher isn't present. I understand that they are hormonal and teachers can't be everywhere, but I don't understand how this is possible.
The office staff is always kind, and the registrar was very helpful last year (2022-2023), but I will not be enrolling my child in this school this year due to his pleading to not go back. He's the only kid I've ever met that dreads the first day of school - he is truly miserable.

I have voiced my concern for years of the student pick up process being an absolute nightmare. To be told time after time they are working to fix the issue. It continually has been getting worse and worse. Today I had my life threatened by another parent who wants to pick up her kid along the street in a no parking area not following the rules. When will the school actually do something instead of just giving broken premises.?
I would give negative stars if I could. If you are looking for a school to put your child in I would highly reconsider this one. They do not care about your child's wellbeing nor their safety.

If you have the possibility to enroll your child in another school, do it. This school is terrible under every point of view!

Wonderful teachers and administration. They are very supportive of my child and her academic growth. A hidden gem in the educational world.

New school administration and teachers are great. Had the opportunity to visit and get a tour. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help my family and me. Best kept secret in Bay County!

This school is terrible! The staff will not respond to teachers' the administration is too busy to talk to parents. I have even caught the staff in blatinet lies They would rather send a kid home than find out what really happened.

Jinks is a super awesome school.Their systems work and nobody gets picked on. Best of all they have honor classes for those with high testing scores.During P.e the students stay on their feet the whole period unless they have crutches or any other problems. The school excepts alot from the students.I love this school. The students do have lockers for regular school and gym class.Their transportation systems rock and the teachers super steller. Please let my school win.We will all be so grateful for it.
