The admin is horrible, they don’t want to communicate with parents, they won’t call parents back, and if your student is involved in any sort of conflict you won’t find out about it until after they have punished everyone… not allowing the parents to be a part of the conversation until it’s way too late if at all. If you can avoid this school, I highly recommend going somewhere else. They also don’t properly help students who genuinely need help, they would prefer to punish them instead of supporting them.

The staff & faculty are just flat out lazy and negligent. No care or concern for the safety of your kids. This school should not be in our neighborhood. We could’ve moved in the hood if we wanted our kids to attend a school like this!

I've only had one teacher I didn't like. They work with parents and students to address any problems in a timely manner.

I've interfaced with the principal several times and she's always promptly dealt with my concerns ranging from issues with the teacher to bullying.

Posted: August 16, 2019

My son recently acquired a 504 and the school was prompt in getting that set up.

Posted: August 16, 2019

My son has dealt with bullying twice and it was promptly dealt with both times in a way that did not escalate the situation.

Kids know what is expected of them. The makeup policies have been very generous as well.

For middle school, it has been great. The AVID program has been a blessing.

Outstanding school and staff. Both of my girls are in their advance classes and are challenged in every way!

Teacher gives too many responsibilities to students and parents. It is a do it yourself for yourself type of system.

Posted: September 14, 2018

Yes , they are. they pass their state board

Posted: September 14, 2018

Character comes from home first. Teachers care about salary , credit from the school system not children character please

Posted: September 14, 2018

No leadership. Instructions should be giving to parents directly, considering how much these children can manipulate parents.

Posted: September 14, 2018

maybe. there are not sufficient resources for students if a parent is not involved in education it will not be effective

Posted: September 14, 2018

n/a. so many cases unsolved. I don't have a specific number but..

50/50. One counselor for 400 students? That's not enough.

My son. Have ADD and school is doing nothing to help him.. counselor is unavailable and most teachers don't care about it

Posted: January 10, 2017

My son is an ADD child and is constantly being sent out of class for, what would be minor infractions if the student/teacher ratio wasn't 30/1. I don't think the teachers are particularly bad, but I think they are over tasked.

My son never has little to no homework. Without homework it is impossible for me to determine how well my son is doing and what he is learning. I also think that at 12 or 13 that too much homework is a bad thing because it takes away from my son getting to be a kid.

Oakleaf JH has bitten off more than they can chew. The school, and the classrooms are over crowded and understaffed. My son is a young man that struggles with ADD. He is constantly being written up and sent out of class on referrals to the office. His grades suffer, his attendance suffers, and most importantly, his self esteem suffers. The amount of support we have received has been minimal, the resources available to assist ADD children is non-existent, and the solutions offered, abysmal. I am sure this is a great school if your child fits in the sit down, be quiet and do as you're told mold, but if your child is energetic and spirited you're gonna have a hard time. I had high hopes for this school and I have been thoroughly disappointed.

A very disorganized school. Todays orientation was a complete mess. The counselors are unwilling to help and people, like Wendy West the librarian, want to go over everyone else and pick who participates in school activities. You will see discrimination at its best at ojh

My daughter has really thrived at Oakleaf Jr High. Her grades have never been higher, and she has been very happy attending school here! The staff are always kind, courteous and professional. Great school!
