Im currently in this school Ive Been called names some kids are racist other than that this school is good some teacher play favorites pe is good all that let you do is play sports and also every quarter of the school year you have to do this thing called fitness test and its unnecessary and at pe when you get hurt they dont comport you and when you accidentally hurt someone they sit you on a wall and cant play pe school is good though

I have been the one learning at this school and from my experience I can confirm this school doesnt care. They have a large problem of bullying and it feels like some teachers play favorites and prefer other students. The school offers little to no extra help after school and doesnt offer any actual programs. Staff at here usually are acting in front of parents based off my parents interaction with them. Some teachers actually teach and gives good tips others use Ai to create assignments which doesnt work often and makes work tedious because they cant help you with the assignment since Ai made it for them. Overall I would rate this school a 4/10 but no compared to other schools.

Anyone who is reading this -- PLEASE STAY AWAY. The administration is some of the worst, unprofessional group of people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. A teacher quit because of the principal, have met countless of parents who disapprove of the administration overall and how they have treated the parents. You have no power or say in anything. If your child has special needs, STAY AWAY. If your child is academically driven, STAY AWAY. The work is minimal and boring, the teachers are not at the standard they need to be. Remember, charters are FOR PROFIT entities. You are better off going to a public school where they will truly teach your child. Academica as a whole is a terrible institution.

DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN THIS SCHOOL!

Im not gonna sit here, and pretend my son is an angel, but the way the school refused to look out for my son and many other students is not acceptable, and he did not deserve what he went through at that school. My son had stuff is always stolen from PE almost everyday. From his uniforms to his personal close to his lunch. No matter how many times we reported it to school did nothing about it. He was name called, harassed, pushed around, had his stuff, taken out of his backpack and dumped on the floor, and jumped by three boys. THE SCHOOL DID NOTHING. I WASNT NOTIFIED UNTIL my son called one of the boys, a derogatory name, which was not OK, however, my son couldnt defend himself with his hand so he did it with his words and got suspended for it. Where is the boy who put his hands on my son was not suspended because there wasnt enough proof. I spent two months calling the school, and being transferred to the extension of the dean of students. WHO WAS ON MEDICAL LEAVE THE WHOLE TIME AND NO ONE TOLD ME ! That day my son also received A failure notice for language arts, and his teacher told him, although you are not feeling because I still have a greed to put in the grade book has you as feeling so I have to give you a failure notice. I REFUSED TO SIGN RHE NOTICE. When I finally got to schedule a meeting with the school, they literally refused to do ANYTHING about it. I told THEM that they had a bullying problem at the school and how I saw two kids hitting each other in the face with the school lanyards in addition to everything going on with my son. The principal responded with bullying is a term parents like to use now in Days and kids will be kids. I wonder if she would feel the same way if one of those kids would have gotten one of their eye taken out. As all of this was happening. I went to a Restaurant and the waitress saw my sons uniform and told us her daughters used to go to that school. When I asked her how she felt about the school she sat down next to me, and said. let me sit down cause Ive got time. And she went on to tell me horror stories of what her daughters had to go through similar to what my son was going through. AND THE SCHOOL DIDNT CARE. everyday I picked up my son from school he was depressed and wouldnt talk about his day.. See part 2

My kids (kindergarten, 5th grader, and 6th grader) just started this school 4 weeks ago and already i have so much to say about this school. My kids went to tropical elementary where the principal Ms. Debbs spoke highly about this school and i was so excited about it. Just read all the reviews here. I dont have the time or space to write about my experience so far.

Greetings everyone!
The administration on this school is a big problem and in case of incidents doesn't take correct decisions.
My son was bothered during the PE and later slapped on the face in the locker rooms because refused to share his cologne with a very aggressive student. The administration, conducted by Ms. Santana decided to suspend that studen for 5 days as well as they suspended my son for just same 5 days. Nonsense! I requested urgently to speack with the Principal or anyone from the administration but 5 days later ( 3 business days) they decided to call me and have the meeting in the next day. There is no way to enter that school, to speack with somebody in urgent situations! When I got to speak with the administration nothing could be done anymore, my son already was suspended and missed days from school. Even more, the Principal digging in history of my son, found back in Pre-K my son scratched a girl and they tried to convince me that my son have history of aggressive behavior, just unbelievable!
I got home a letter after explaining me that my son was suspended because he was the INSTIGATOR, just because when the aggressor told him is going to slap him if not give him the cologne, my son stand up in front of that student telling him that won't share his cologne and repeating:"you're not going to slap me!" I suggest the administration to do some research and learn better what INSTIGATOR really mean, because my son wasn't such of, my son wasn't the one starting the conflict, nor threatened nobody, nor hit nobody. There is no sense of declaring my son an INSTIGATOR!
In conclusion: my son was bothered, threatened, slapped and suspended by wrong decision of the administration for 5 days.
Today again after a altercation during the PE, in the locker rooms my son was hit by surprise while was changing his shirt. Ms. Santana find my son guilty for arguing and responding to provocation of the aggressive student during the PE. This administration requires to the middle school students ( not elementary or Pre-K) to stay quiet, not respond any provocation but to run as fast they can to security or to the office, or to text on help number posted around the school on the walls. Remember, the students are not allowed to have the phone during any period, even PE, so how they're going to text?
Don't know what suggestions to give this administration but is evident that somehow, somewhere they're failing.
So sad for such a Academic Excellence School!

I am a former teacher at SASP. As a teacher and parent, I can say this school is a mirage. Even though it is an A school it comes at the cost of the principal treating the admin, teachers, and support staff horribly. To keep them happy she basically buys them with stipends, referendums, and bonuses. She constantly brags about how much money the school has. The principal likes to hire former colleagues, friends and family members and even they dont last long. Between the 3 campuses there are about 300 employees and less than 30 have been there more than a few years. In my less than 5 years there, I went through 3 APs. Being promoted depends more on how scared you are of the principal, rather than your effectiveness. She yells and loses her cool with the admin staff frequently. She manages her school on fear. If she doesnt like you, she will avoid total communication with you and she will have her secretary contact you, but if she likes you she will call and text you personally. She is not professional at all, but pretends to be in front of the right people. Again a mirage.

Summer Set Academy, great school and we commend you teachers for all your hard work and efforts to educate our kids. Weve been pleased with your output of graduates in or heading to college. Thanks for an awesome job!!! Greatly appreciated!!! But teachers and educators please be aware of the trying times that we as parents, relatives, kids, people in the community as well as some of you are dealing with today in this society among all Americans. Some of these requests youre asking for to teach our kids, such as pricey supplies for everyday learning and projects can be a bit overwhelming. So please be mindful of us as parents, peers, and students that inflation, gas prices,food to feed our kids and families are hefty as some of your request. Please dont put us in a situation to determine if were going to buy supplies or feed our kids and families. Thanks for your consideration in advance!!

My daughter was in this school since kindergarten. She has amazing teachers up to 1st grade. After that, the second grade teacher quit. It took the school 5 months to hire a new teacher. The school has a really hard time retaining teachers. The school does nothing to stop bullying- many of the cases they get are swept under a rug. Homework is slack, and doesn't help the children reinforce what they learn at school. When it comes to testing, they are very behind and rush through test prep.

Administration at this school needs an attitude adjustment or refresher course of social skills just like they would teach their own students.
The school ratings are fantastic. It is the only reason why Im tolerating these people. But dealing with the office staff is unwelcoming each of the five times Ive spoken to them. Speaking to the dismissive lady that the front desk always puts me on with when I can not speak to the specific person I ask for, does not have any compassion, short-answered, not interested in what you have to say, and is not willing to research the system. And there is nothing wrong with Spanish, but Somerset is not listed as Spanish as the primary language. So the secretary shouldnt assume Spanish when talking to everyone. I only want what is best for my children, but this school does not make me feel comfortable. Ive had friendlier encounters with office staff of 1800 student public schools, small private school owners and a medium size 3/10 rating school.

Middle and high school is terrible. My daughter went there through middle school and freshman year. She couldn't take it anymore. Administration is terrible and always making new rules. Parents have to pay for everything including class fees for almost every class and parent volunteer hours which can cost up to 100.00. Kids will have consequences such as not participating in any functions if the school does not receive the money. My daughter did not feel like she would get the full high school experience there and was not happy. She was an A and B student at Silver Palms and continues to be that same student at her new school. Difference is that she actually enjoys going to school now.
There was also an issue that I just found out about regarding inappropriate behavior from a teacher towards a student. The school just swept it under the rug and fires the teacher. Administration gathered his personal items for him and told him not to come back. Guess they didn't want any negative attention and didn't report anything. That teacher is now at another school still.working with kids. The elementary kids seem to be having a good time and parents I spoke to seem happy. Stay away from the middle and high school

This review is for the elementary school. I have not had any experience at the middle.
I am so happy we found this school. My children love it! So far teachers have been great, encouraging and communicative. The load of homework is acceptable, if your kids are used to doing their homework every day it should be fine. Teachers also go over homework in class which lots of schools simply don't do. They truly prioritize grades and academic performance above all. This school is a hidden gem! I cannot comment about middle teachers because i don't know them, however there are several amazing elementary teachers!

Teachers honestly don't care about the students, they say it and they show it too. Terrible school. My teacher once told my class several times that we were going to fail the state test. I feel like the teachers don't help in reaching my full potential. I had better grades and teachers in regular public school. Think twice before coming here.

I go to Somerset Silver Palms and my teachers have favoritism and they're very rude. My math teacher actually told my class several times that we were going to fail the state test. They charge you for everything (don't come to this school unless you make 100 grand or more).

I spend so much time at home stressing and doing my homework. I don't even do sports, imagine what those poor athletes and what they go though. I spend at least 5 hours a day doing homework every day.

Best Charter in town! Love the rules! Love the disipline and the way how the staff support all kind of krasy parents, lol... My kids and my housband love everything in there too. Nice activities and nice advanced classes.

WORST SCHOOL EVER ! Not recommended for high school. No scholorships and the electives suck. Don't come here for high school. The rules are super ridiculous, as in you get in trouble for everything. Teachers expect respect from students when they disrespect them themselves. Few teachers are great. Most of the staff is rude, don't know what their doing, and they lie a lot. I'm very disappointed in Somerset. They were so great when they started a few years ago and now things are going down hill.

I have a senior at the school. The new counselor, Ms. Zucker, is amazing. She has done more to help my child in four months than the previous counselor did in 2 years. She doesn't speak Spanish but who cares. I hope she doesn't leave-she is amazing. Stop knocking this school. It is much better than the public schools in the area.
