My son only attended 1 week at Westland Hialeah Senior High, since the beginning of the school year he was so frustrated with the school, teachers lack knowledge, office staff and general ambience.
To the point that I had to move so he can attend another school.
School negativity was present when I tried to ask for a transfer, I saw my son suffering and frustrated day by day, mistreated because he speaks more English than Spanish, if he asked something always the teachers give him a poor response and much more that I could add.
The truth is that I don't recommend this school to anyone, at least not any american citizen who's not willing to be mistreated because the language or culture.

Throughout my 4 years in this school I have experienced the unimaginable. Fights, Drugs, Alcohol, inexperienced teachers that try to hit on students every chance they get (myself included) and just a horrible atmosphere all around. The lunches are TERRIBLE. I swear I have found things in my lunch multiple times such as hair, pieces of paper and more. The administration is a piece of garbage that only cares about money and school image. There is no regard for students what so ever.

I honestly am unpleasant with this school they look down on freshmans all the time. Plus there is no diversity everyone is hispanic and the attendance policy is ridiculous. Some teachers have accents and don't know how to teach. The work provided doesn't always contradict the lesson. The teachers also take awhile to grade things, and some have favorite students. They strive to have wonderful extracurricular programs, academics and school spirit. But it only seems like some administrators and students in all dislike freshman being the babies of the school which isn't quite fair.

I am a current student of Westland Hialeah Senior High and I must say that the Math department can really use an improvement. There are only about 3-4 good teachers for Math in general. Currently, I have an Algebra 2 teacher with a horrific accent and doesn't not know how to teach or communicate effectively to us. the only good thing I like about this year (2013-2014) is the school spirit; it has gotten so much better along with the activities. I just wish administration would attend to the students needs rather than tell us "we can't do anything about." Basically, you are stuck with what you get whether you are learning or not.

The teachers are horrible. Most of the teachers have an accent and don't even bother to explain the work to the students. One of the worst teachers have to be Ms. Alvarez who teaches geometry. She doesn't bother to pick up the work and doesn't like to explain to the students. I highly recommend not coming to this school! This school has the worst teachers who don't bother teaching at all. Also this school only cares about the money. They don't care at all about the education of the students. Mr. Smith is a very disrespectful and always screams at the students for no apparent reason whatsoever. Once again DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL!!!

Westland is the worst school in Miami-Dade county. The administration only cares about getting the school to an A - even if it means forcing a student not capable of taking a dual enrollment class to take that course just because it benefits the school. Forcing students to sell a $10 magazine subscription in order to participate in school activities is probably the most idiotic idea ever constructed by a human being. It is not up to the students to make money for the school, and if they want to, fine, but don't force them. I thought we lived in a democracy?
