At first glance, this school appears to be a prestigious place where the staff genuinely cares about its students. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience. One of the biggest issues is the lack of communication. When incidents happen, parents are not kept informed, and it's nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone because no one answers. The only way to get a response is by email, which can be frustrating when you're trying to address something urgent. I've also witnessed teachers speaking negatively about other students in front of the class, assuming the children aren't paying attention. There have even been comments made about parents, which I found to be completely unprofessional. If your child is neurodivergent, be prepared to advocate for them every step of the way. Rather than receiving the support they need to succeed academically, many parents end up having to pay for outside tutoring and additional resources just to help their child stay at grade level. Another disappointment is the constant financial burden placed on families. It seems like there's always another fee or fundraiser, and everything comes with a price tag. As parents, we want our children to feel included, but it becomes overwhelming when it feels like every activity requires more money. What frustrates me the most is that the school's social media presents a picture of a supportive, welcoming environment, but my experience has been very different. Instead of providing meaningful academic support, families are sent home with an overwhelming amount of homework, while parents are left to find outside resources on their own if their child needs extra help. I truly wanted this school to be everything it appeared to be, but I've been left disappointed by the lack of communication, limited support, and the overall experience.

disappointing experience with this school. The communication is terribleif theres an issue involving your child, you should be informed immediately, or at the very least before they get home. Thats simply not happening here.
Its clear theres a lack of genuine care for the students. Each child feels like just another number, another dollar sign. When I chose to disenroll, no one asked any questions or showed any concern, which says a lot about their level of involvement.
I expected better for my child, and unfortunately, this school did not meet even the basic standards of communication or care.

I love Mater Academy! Whenever I have needed something they have always helped. Whenever I have needed to speak to admin they have answered. The teachers always respond to my emails in a quick manner. The teachers have always helped me with my kids and have always given me feed back wether asked for or not. They are very communicative. Can not ask for a better school for kiddos.

This school is just perfect. There is zero tolerance for bullying. Parents must be involved with the education of their children or they will not be accepted the following year. Music, Art, PE, and the regular classes foster an environment of learning.
This school is AMAZING! All schools should aspire to be like Mater Academy in Hialeah.

This is a really bad school the way they educated the students is not ok they talk about no bulling but the teachers do bulling.Today my son Has a Christmas show which they ask us for blue jeans a red shirt and etc when the show start my son wasn't there I was so surprise ,where is Kevin ? "guess what" one of the teacher decided he is no going to participate cause he didn't learned the moves, that was too Much he is only 6 besides the kids were just standing there doing nothing just singing a song when I went to see my baby he was crying honestly that's not the way to teach a child how to behave. Thank god is half year I'm trying to take him out now if not for sure next year he is not going to the school.

I love my school!! 4th and 5th graders went on a field trip to the marlns stadium, cause we did awesome on the fcat, and we won the award for most sprited school out of 20 schools that came to the game!! Last year I got a 6 on the FCAT writing thanks to my 4th grade teacher. Even though the Music teacher is mean the other special area techers are nice and helpful. We have a lot of bake sales, pizza sales and jeans day and last year with all of that money they built a new library and a classroom upstairs which I'm in. My teacher is super nice yet strict when it comes to learning. I have lots of friends at this school and we have lots of clubs like Green Club, Spirit Team, Student council and chess team which won first place in a state match....WOOOHHOOOO!!!!!!! I love my school and recommend it! GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!

i LOVE this school. They have the most dedicated teachers and staff. My son loves this school as well, he comes home every day and tells me everything that he has learned. We live an hour away from the school and i still drive him down because we love this school so much. I would recommend this school to any parent that wants to see their children be successful in life, and this school is definitely the start for a successful child.

I definitively would not recommend this school since it has not been graded yet for school year 2010/11, there is something happening that parents have the right to know.

The grades are combined and this is not good for average students. The teacher's program @ Mater Academy is bellow the program at public schools. Sorry, but my two kids had been affected with the system of this school
