The teachers and administrators do not know how to teach or communicate. They are completely out of depth to manage the energy of young children and mold creative minds to positive channels with the right attitude. I guess that's what we as parents get for a state that can't attract talent into the teaching field.

My daughter attended Loretto Elementary neighborhood/magnet for 6 years and we can't imagine having a better experience elsewhere. Teachers outstanding with an individualized approach to instruction which only improved each year. It's difficult to pick a favorite teacher, thinking each one before was the best! Admin. dedicated and nurturing. With almost 1000 students, Principal Kemp and VP Johnson knew children by name! Involved parents and great PTA! Excellent extra-curricular activities with drama, garden, dance clubs just to name a few my daughter had the choice to be involved in. Spectacular memories for our entire family!

Loretto has been a wonderful school for my child. She is in 4th grade and has attended since Kindergarten. The teachers and staff and very helpful and the PTA is top notch. There are lots of activities to get involved with as a parent. Loretto is a great school in a nice area of town.

Two kids, both had a great experience. The teachers and staff are the best I have ever met and worked with. They truly take time to learn each students strengths and weaknesses. This is a great school in a great area of South Jacksonville.

I have personally seen teachers use completely different teaching strategies with students that learn differently than others.

Over the last 10 years that my children have been at Loretto, there have been 3 principals at Loretto. Each have brought something different to the school. The current principal has faced challenges that have been out of her control. She has worked effectively to resolve them. She loves Loretto and its students.

My experience at this school over the last 10 years has been exceptional. Living in a big city, it is difficult to have that small community feeling. Loretto provides that feeling. I have volunteered at the school for 10 years. I have volunteered in the classrooms and I have served on various PTA committees. I feel this first hand experience has helped me appreciate what goes on at the school and understand the challenges schools face. I have noticed over the years that the parents that complain the most are typically the ones that are involved the least. I will miss my Loretto community when my last elementary student leaves. My biggest advice to any current or future Loretto parents is to get involved. It will mean the world to your student and to the school. Make a difference.

I currently have a 1 student in elementary, 1 student in middle school and 1 student in high school. My students in middle and high have a lot of homework. I feel my elementary student's teachers provide a nice balance of homework. My student gets homework in each subject each night. Not too much for elementary, but enough to prepare my student for middle school.

I have had children at this school for 10 years. I have been beyond pleased with every teacher they have had. They have all genuinely cared for their students and wanted what is best for their students.

This year, PTA centered its programs around making a difference. Students were challenged to make a difference in their school and community. Students made donations to various charities throughout the year. The entire 2nd grade level even raised money to send students to school in Haiti. When you approached the main building this year, you immediately saw the school's commitment to influencing students to be better people. There was a banner that welcomed you that said, "Let your kindness shine." Once inside, the entire main hallway was decorated with words and art that encouraged kindness.

My daughter goes to third grade here. This is by far the worst school we have dealt with. The teachers don't make sure the kids understand what is expected of them and parents don't find out about issues with an assignment or test weeks later when they upload the grade online. My daughter has had a serious decline this year. Do your family a favor and find a school that has teachers that care about kids.

This year, the teachers my child has are AWESOME! They communicate so well with parents. They provide the right amount in relation to what they are currently studying and will be tested on. It is not busy work.

They have a character education program. The Principal is willing to hear both sides of any issue and makes a fair and unbiased judgement.

I have two kids who go to school at Loretto, one in 1st and one in 4th. We have had an excellent experience there. We've had really good teachers plus the Resource (Computer, PE, Library, Art, etc.) teachers make it feel familial, too. It's not perfect, but the things I have a problem with are mostly district-based and outside of the school's control. Plus, nothing is perfect. Most of the teachers there genuinely care about the kids and educating. It's been more than a pleasant surprise, it's been a gift.

I love this school... My child attended Loretto and was very happy there. She was involved and engaged and learned so much. I loved the teachers the staff and even the other kids. I wished I would have known about Loretto when my two older were in elementary school!

I attended Loretto from kindergarten to fifth grade, and I enjoyed my time there. I now attend Landon and I feel that this school prepared me for everything. The teachers and staff are all devoted to helping you, and will help you to succeed. On several occasions I had teachers wanting to and willing to stay after school with me, so that I could understand a concept. I would recommend this school to anyone, and everyone. -- Former Student

I am a parent and work and Loretto elementary. It is a great school. The teachers are very devoted and caring people. The CSS department (autism) is outstanding. This school continues to be an A school and it deserves to be one.

Loretto has exceeded my expectations. Despite the size, Teachers and staff take an individual interest in each child and provide a safe and fun learning environment. Mrs. Ellis is an incredible kindergarten teacher and we are lucky to have been in her class.

I am a student that moved on from Loretto two years ago. I honestly wouldn't have liked to have gone anywhere else. I think that the work I was given (especially in 5th grade) really helped prepare me for the challenges that now face me in middle school. This is saying a lot because i currently go to a college prep school, taking algebra a year early, and this school prepared me for it. I was (and still am) a straight A student all my life, and this is mainly due to the fact that Loretto's teachers really helped me to not just "get" the concept being learned, but examine it and really grasp it. I loved how I could grow not just academically, but socially as well. Even if you come in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade, you still know everyone by the end of your 5th grade year. I see that some people have been putting down the class size, but I loved having a larger class because all our ideas, questions, and opinions could be bounced off one another and gave us different ways of looking at something. I was going into 3rd grade when the principal changed, and I have to say that he has made it so much more the technology magnet that it is. Overall, I would strongly recommend Loretto.

I am a student at Loretto Elem. And so is my brother. We both love it there. I am in 5th grade and my brother is in kindergarten. Mr.Begley is a really fun princepal. Last year if we read a certain amount of book he ate a worm. This year if we read a certian amout of books he will kiss a pig. He always gets us motivated to read by doing some crazy things to reward us. Me and my brother are also in extended day and that is awesome too. I am a patrol and I love this school and I think ou would to

My children and I had an excellent experience at this school. They went here for the 2010-2011 school year. Mrs. Toomer is by far, one of the best Kindergarten teachers I've ever seen! We also had Ms. Vogt and Ms. McMurry (team teachers) and the were excellent teachers! I could not have asked for better teachers. The teachers, who I have had the pleasure of working with, genuinely care about their students. They had a way of realting to the kids and making them feel special. They were very encouraging for those students who struggled. The school atmosphere was very family oriented. I can only speak from my experience, but I can not say enough kind words about this school!
