This school is over all just terrible. Very few of the teachers genuinely care about their students, especially when it comes to bullying and mental health. I've seen kids going around with fresh and uncovered SH and none of the teachers will say a thing, not even guidance counselors. I once brought to the school's attention of another student's attempts and SH and I had to bring it to their attention multiple times before they did anything. The guidance counselors do nothing to help the students, they either send them out or tell them to stop being dramatic even when the student is overwhelmed they only care about themselves and their reviews. There are also many teaches who just don't teach, they'll just put on a video and throw a bunch of work at you and expect you to know what to do and a lot of them take forever to even put in grades even after being reminded.

Second review for the atmosphere and not even the learning part of the school.. its just so bad.. when i attended there was fights spanning from the literal first day of school to the time i graduated, i had this keyboard teacher who literally yelled at my friend and kicked her in her chair, grabbed my hands and made me play and so much more..
I was bullied relentlessly since this was during 2021-2023 and i'm a chinese girl.. you can guess what i got called, i was physically assaulted as well. the dean doesn't care, neither does the principal, thankfully my teacher let me move my seat so that they couldn't get to me

over the span of 2 years i had filed well over 20 reports about people recording me, seeking violence on me, targeting me and my friends you know the usual and *NOTHING* i mean absolutely nothing nada happened

god forbid you're not white or black these kids are ruthless

This school does nothing to support the students. The front office staff is completely inept and seems absolutely clueless. My teachers are all nice but i think they have too many people to manage because if you get behind that’s pretty much wraps for you. You get no help even if you talk to the teachers, it just never really feels like you’re on the same page or if u ever really receive proper credit for the time you put in. I really regret switching to Fletcher as much as i wanted it to work. Please go to a different school because this school will absolutely derail and destroy your academic career and experience.

As a student here at fletcher Middle School and a military kid, this has to be the worst school I've been to out of all 7 schools I've been to. There are many reasons why I think this, for example, the number of fights at the school is unimaginable, its been about 2 months so far and there has already been 7 fights in 8th grade alone. The problem with this, is that they take no disciplinary action. Last fight (which was today) the kid who started it was just put at a separate table and was let go after lunch with no write up. And what makes it worse, is that its the same exact people every time, no suspension taken at any time. It isn't just about fights though, there's a huge problem with cockroaches and ants, you will see ant nests inside the walls and cockroaches dead or alive crawling around the hallways. What makes this worse, is that they aren't taking the proper precautions to get arid of them. What makes this EVEN worse is that when you are doing work the ants will crawl up on your desk and crawl around on our papers. And with being in the military, this school isn't very new student friendly, with wan people just ignoring your existence and there's no programs to get to know people so your stuck with just you and a bunch of jerks who will push you around (happened to me). Lastly, I just want to talk about the students, most people at Fletcher are EXTREMELY rude and toxic, I have gotten pushed and shoved just for being smaller than some people, many people act like their in gangs and try to act super tough but doesn't typically work. Fletcher only cares about their sports (which is where most funding goes), not their students.

It's all about the numbers for this school. they do not care about the educational well being of their children. the math classes are notorious for not being well taught. and if your kid doesn't get it. they will not put your kid in an easier class!!! it's the ugly truth. don't send your kids here if you even have the smallest worry you kid won't completely understand the work. the teacher will just say to the class 'figure it out' or throw chairs! my daughter is in 8th grade. Every math class has been a horror! don't count of the principal McKenzie to care either.

While Fletcher Middle lays claim to being the best non-magnet middle school in Duval, its performance and quality of its student body are significantly below the best magnet middle schools in Duval or any middle school in St Johns County. If you can get your child into a magnet middle school or move to St Johns, your child will get a better education.

Fletcher Middle School is the best middle school in Duval County. Fletcher has some amazing teachers. The teachers keep their websites updated with the classroom curriculum/assignments and communicate with parents via emails/remind. The faculty and staff are engaged with the student body. Fletcher could offer more student clubs.

The faculty are mostly seasoned professionals who do a fantastic job given their circumstances. The principal is the worst school administrator I've ever met. Teresa Mowbray is in over her head with this job and gets by on her looks, charm and pandering to any parents who complain loudly enough. If you have another choice, look elsewhere.

Wow to the teacher that thinks the fights are far and few between apparently you are living under a shell. My son is in his last year there ( thank god), my experience there has had its ups and downs! There are some decent teachers left at the school that's about as nice as it gets, for me that is! I would have to say there are several fights a week, the more recent one was Friday, the school security officer interceded ( the fight did happen off campus, well across the street from the school and apparently half the school knew because it was well attended by the students! Several J.B. officers should up too. My one dread is that my daughter is supposed to attend this August ( I pray not, trying to get her in some where else), I do understand that Fletcher is one of the better Duval county school, that is sad! No wounder parent scrap and scrip and try to move to St. John's county!

To the teacher of 15 years, I'm sure the parents of your students appreciate your efforts. Additionally, you should know that not all of your colleagues share the same work ethic. I certainly cannot speak for others, however, I can say that teachers at this school do not communicate due to my personal experience. My child was there for 3 years and each year I had at least one teacher who failed to respond to emails, voicemails and hand written letters. One year, after receiving a scholarship warning, the teacher failed to respond to numerous efforts and I was forced to schedule a conference with the whole team. When I was finally allowed my 20 minute conference, report cards were already issued and I was told I needed to move past the non-response and focus on grade recovery. I found it difficult to move past, because had there been a response to multiple contacts on my part, a conference would not have been necessary. That line of reasoning fell on deaf ears and my thoughts were quickly dismissed. It is frustrating as a parent when we want to partner with teachers, seek their advice and make our children accountable, but it turns out to be one-sided.

I have been a teacher at Fletcher Middle for 15 years and it is an excellent school. We have very high FCAT scores, vey few failures and fights are few and far between. I'm not sure why people post on here that teachers don't communicate - students' grades have available online for five years. If parents don't know how their children are doing its because they aren't checking. The majority of the teachers are very caring and work hard to provide a quality education. I consider it to be one of the best middle schools in the county.

Poor curriculum. Predjudice against students with learning difficuties. Unable to process complaints or issues effectively. Never get to speak to the principal (he's always "in a meeting"). Continually rerouted to the staff that is the problem for sending my child out of the classroom for 5 days without even informing me. My child has been bullied there many times. Her friend got punched in the face there. Nothing was done to stop the bullying. My child does not receive a quality education there.
