John Stockton Elementary School

Stockton is an excellent elementary school. The family engagement, in particular, is phenomenal. Because it's located in a neighborhood, many of the kids walk or bike to school and the families all really get to know each other and look out for each other. Administration makes themselves very available for meetings when you need to go over something and in my experience, are receptive to feedback. Our kids have been very happy at Stockton!

This is an ideal neighborhood school. With high parent involvement and community support, it is hard not to enjoy your child's schooling experience. My daughter absolutely adores her teacher and classmates. In her kindergarten year, they took her from barely reading to reading full chapter books. I still don't understand how but it is amazes me. The school consistently ranks as one of the top elementary schools in the state and has been A-rated since the rankings started. Because of this, they have a high teacher retention rate and attract top talent. From the administration to the teachers to even the librarians, the whole school is warm and inviting and makes it a ideal elementary school experience for the kids. Plus the STEM magnet is very relevant and gives them real-world skills that will only help them when they are older. I can't say enough good things about this school. Truly a gem in the public education school system in Duval!

I worked at John Stockton elementary school and would never recommend parents send their children to this school. The administration ignores issues, covers up reports and pretends serious problems don't exist. The administration does not care about the students.

This schools provides amazing communication with parents, and has a wonderful community. Wonderful teachers and staff.

This school is absolutely wonderful! My daughter loves going here! This was her first year of school starting out as a kindergartener, and the areas where she was a little behind in, the teacher and I worked out an amazing plan and initialized it throughout the year to help my daughter make up for her minor deficiencies. Everything the teacher helped plan worked wonders for my daughter. She was a very kind and caring, attentive teacher. She also helped with suggesting a summer program to ensure that my daughter is at 100% readiness to go into her first grade year. Everything the teachers and administrative staff have done throughout the year has helped my child to better her education, social skills, and otherwise. In my opinion this is the best school that you could possibly have your children attend, and I would recommend it very highly to all parents. Your child will love going here. Everyone at this school truly cares about our children and their future and not just about looking good and test scores. They actually care about teaching our children and ensuring that our children have a good future. I love this school and I wouldn't want my daughter to go anywhere else but here. This school is not all its cracked up to be. My daughter attended this school for 4 years. The first two years were bad. Her teachers told me all about how she couldn't do this and couldn't do that. I worked with her on all of her deficiencies. We had to do all the work outside of school to make this happen. Her teachers were no help! By the third year she was a model student. She had worked her butt off and it showed. The fourth and final year was the last straw. Her fourth grade teacher was horrible!!!! She only had negative things to say about my child. Never did she have any type of positive reinforcement from her teacher. My child who loved school and doing her best, hated school. When speaking to the administration all I was told is they would talk to the teacher . What good was that, my daughter was already terrified. This is when we decided enough is enough and moved her out of this environment. Since then she is now a straight A student. Her teachers love her and has since been tested for gifted. This school is receiving 1 star because we had 1 good year.
