This school gets worse by the year from what I’m hearing by people that used to go there, administration keeps coming and going, some of them really do care and are trying their best to help, but every year the scheduling changes and teachers keep leaving. It took Mrs.Ciresi from administration 6 years to notice that I was going to this school, do they not have a record of who goes in and out of that school?

It also seems like this school goes in circles with teaching people about Christianity refusing to go any deeper into theology, and church history. If you’re not doing any kind of sports they literally don’t care about you.

I’ve also heard from a family friend that tried to get her child into this school that he was rejected for defending himself against another kid that was trying to harass him at his old school.

Bullying is also a problem, a friend of my sister’s said that she was bullied for her weight and administration did nothing about it.

We had my son enrolled to University Christian School for 3 years. I was mislead thinking it was going to have a benefit for my son. This school has a serious bullying problem! He was harassed and threatened multiple times! It appears the administration has strong favoritism towards the football players and turns a blind eye when conflict arises.
In addition, the whole experience is a money grab! For example, if you are late picking up your student because you live 45 minutes away and traffic is always a nightmare due to where the school is located, they want to charge you $30 every time you are late!
That is one out of many examples!
I’m sorry, but to pay $12,000 per year to not keep my son safe and have an administration that is not doing their job is absurd! They need to re-evaluate their school curriculum.

Hello, I am currently an 8th-grade student at University Christian School, and I have developed strong concerns about my experience here.

I would not recommend sending your child to this school, especially for middle school. The middle school hallway is almost always chaotic, with students shouting, shoving, and being disruptive. Since enrolling, I feel that my academic progress has declined. Before attending this school, my IXL scores were at or above grade level, with some even two to three grades higher. Now, several of my scores are below grade level, including one that is at a 5th-grade math level.

The school day feels extremely rushed, and the campus seems overcrowded. Because of this, teachers often have limited time to help individual students. The hallways are very cramped, and it is common to hear inappropriate language, including slurs, while walking between classes.

I also feel that many students lack independent thinking and simply repeat what others say without forming their own opinions. Although the school is diverse, I still notice hints of racism and sexism among students. I have heard racist and ignorant comments in both hallways and classrooms, including students using racial slurs toward or about Black and Hispanic students.

Additionally, inappropriate topics such as sex are repeatedly brought up in middle school Bible and Spanish classes, even though these are not sex education courses. I also do not feel that all sports are treated equally. For example, the girls’ weightlifting team must work around football offseason workouts, instead of football players training on their own time. Football is constantly praised, even after large losses.

There is also blatant homophobia expressed in classrooms, which I believe should not be tolerated in a Christian school environment. Many students are careless with others’ belongings. For example, someone once stuck chewing gum on my water bottle immediately after an assembly about respecting others’ property.

Overall, I strongly advise parents to reconsider sending their children to this school.

Someone stole my daughters AirPods right from her bag because the backpack hooks were on the opposite wall than they were supposed to be, I was then lied to when I was told they had been moved to the proper place. Nothing was done and I received ZERO compensation. Staff hardly respond to emails

I absolutely love University Christian! From the dedicated administrative team to the amazing teachers, it's been an incredible experience for our family.

The administrative team at the school is truly exceptional. They are always welcoming, approachable, and ready to assist with any concerns or questions we may have. Their professionalism and commitment to creating a positive and supportive school environment make a world of difference. They make sure that every child feels safe and well-cared for, and their communication with parents is wonderful.

Our son attended from 8th grade to 12th and excelled at UCS. The teachers and staff were wonderful and truly cared for my son's well-being and education. I grew up in the Jacksonville public school system and was in no way about to put our child through that. From day 1, the students were very friendly to our son and even invited him to play sports, join the Beta Club and even the National Honors Society - none of which we were even thinking about when we joined UCS. He also took several computer training and programming courses and was even awarded a STEM scholarship for college. UCS also issues students iPads that he was able to keep at graduation. Although being shy as first, he has made many lifelong friends which not only includes students but teachers, coaches and staff as well. We also love watching the various sports teams which usually make it to the playoffs. It's really exciting to attend these events. Our son even played in DOAK Campbell stadium for the State Championship. Starting our school search, we met with and physically toured "many" of the private schools in Jacksonville. We did a lot of research and a lot of praying before making the decision to attend University Christian. We have had a great experience are so thankful of the decision we made. Our son has been accepted to Stetson, University of West Florida, Jacksonville University and was awarded merit scholarships and a STEM scholarship which pays for most of his private college tuition. We are so grateful for our experience and relationships made at University Christian School.

Excellent school with great teachers, administrators, and coaches who really care about your son or daughter. We moved to the area from out of state and it's been nothing but a top notch experience for our son. You won't find a better school for the price. Great leadership from the top down. University Christian School is a great place to have your children excel in their learning by incorporating traditional curriculum with a Biblical world view and how to prepare our young adults and children for real world situations. The classes are smaller size than the average public school which works well for teachers and students in developing a cohesive learning environment. Personally, I have witnessed a significant growth and improvement in both of my children while attending this school. I would encourage anyone looking to find a better educational community for their family to invest in UCS. UCS does accept scholarships, has an enormous amount of athletic programs as well as extracurricular activities to fit all interests and skill sets. Love God & Love People.

Huge mistake & I regret ever sending our 11 yr old to UCS. We transferred after one year as he was bullied & exposed to things I didn’t expect from a “Christian” school. This school’s main priority is athletics not academics. The teachers I dealt with were caring & loved to teach for the most part but they seem overwhelmed. Many of the students attend only because it’s safer than some of the public schools.

Our experience was absolutely terrible. Our neighborhood is zoned for Terry Parker High and I believe she would have been better off there (for free). It is sad because we were very excited about this school to build her faith and protect her heart. We had the opposite happen. From day one, she was harassed and bullied to the point that her mental health was suffering. At the tour, every kid looked extremely respectful and sweet.
When she got to the school, it was a complete bait and switch. The one thing positive I can say is that the instruction from the teachers is great and communication is timely. We went to the online academy because she cannot take the peer influences anymore and to my knowledge, nothing will be done to the kids who have harassed her this year.

The students here are the worst I've ever seen and our kids have been to many schools around the nation due to military transfers. The students "roast" other students constantly, make fun of them, and ostracize them if they ask for help from teachers. Though it is a Christian school, girls are constantly making inappropriate and vulgar tiktok videos in the bathrooms and sporting events. This is very much a "snitches get stitches" culture. If your student is sweet, kind, and innocent and you want to keep it that way, run away quickly.

My student (new freshman) was harassed for her body, picked on, made fun of, and more on a daily basis. It was so bad that she was unable to eat and was having panic attacks in the bathroom daily. She did not feel she could go to administration because she was told by her peers that if she was seen with the counselor or administration, no one would be her friend and that the bullying would get worse.

I feel that some of the BA teachers are on a power trip. They are very rude and condescending to these kids. My kids are very vocal and outspoken, this seems to annoy the teachers. They don't want the kids to be able to think for themselves, they want them to all be blind sheep. I have raised my kids to be independent thinkers and most teachers feel that it is their way or the highway.

Our son has been in UCS since K5. He is currently in the elementary level and we have enjoyed our experience. UCS is solid academically and he is being challenged and succeeding. He is growing socially and has developed great friendships. The school is a community and we like that it is not a bubble but a great representation of the Jacksonville community. Last, the school is a bargain tuition wise for what the education he is receiving.

This school is a huge blessing to our community. The teachers make sure that every student has come to knowledge of Jesus Christ and provide quality education in every class. My children have been attending University Christian for many years. Those that have graduated have been prepared academically and socially to venture out into life and go after and achieve their goals. The faculty and staff really care about how the students are doing both in school and life. They take the time to mentor them and show them what their life can be like with care and prayer. Their relationships with Christ have become stronger and exciting. Over the last five years there have been tremendous changes in the facilities and curriculum, that have geared my students for life as they go to college. UCS has been part of our family for many years and the love and support that my children have received will be with the for the rest of their lives.

I cannot say enough about how much we love University Christian School. From the teachers and administration to the quality of education, our experience has been more than we could ever have expected. We have watched our children improve academically and mature spiritually with such great staff/administration examples. All of our extended family live in other parts of the country and we've been so blessed to see how the UC community has loved on us and our kids and become truly family to ours. There is so much to be excited about at UC. It seems like they are always looking for ways to improve the atmosphere of the school whether it be through facility improvements or technology advancements as well as expanding the music/band department and other ways/programs that my kids will get to take part in. This is our families second year at University Christian School and with each passing year I love this place more and more! My child comes home excited to learn each day. My children have just started their 5th year at University Christian School. The school is not perfect and neither are my children. However, it is the perfect fit for them. They have been nurtured, treated kindly and blessed by their teachers. Academics are strong and the teachers have high expectations for the students. Students have to work and are stretched to do their best. I love schoology because it gives parents so much more info than programs like ed-line and etc. I can check grades, assignments and completed work. There are comments on assignments helping me to know what my kids can do better in the future. Overall it is a wonderful school. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else in Jacksonville.

There's been many times I have called and emailed the teachers including the Dean and I have not received a phone call or email back. They go as far as taking your child's iPad away and searching it as though they are criminals as well as taking your child to a meeting with the Head of School, Dean, and Principal that you were never informed of.

This is a terrible school! Absolutely nothing Christian about it. There is no communication between the school and parents. Some of the teachers are the most rude and uncaring Christians I have ever met. My sons 2 years there was a waste of money. The only thing they seem to care about are sports. In fact they will close the school down for a football game but will not call you it tell you the cops are at the school searching students for drugs. Glad my kid is out of that school! Much safer now!

UC is a Christ centered school that focuses on reaching kid's for Christ. It is academically sound, with teachers that care for the students, starting in Kindergarten and going through seniors! As with ANY school, people will always find areas in need of improvement. The administration is always listening and working to improve all aspects of the school. As a military family, we depend on Great Schools alot. It should be noted that this is an "urban" Christian school. It is a ministry for the church. Our child was exposed to much more than if he had been at a public school. We will not be returning next year. If you decide to enroll your child in this school, I HIGHLY recommend getting involved to see the school from the inside. Volunteer to substitute and you will see exactly what takes place in the classroom.

This school is a great place for both school and sport lovers. It also has great staff and teachers, eager to help the student. We also use technology to our advantage as we use iPads to read, write, and just have fun. The school offers from pre-k to 12th grade with a variety of events and exciting fundraisers. University also offers a variety of sports such as football, soccer, cheer, baseball, and more along with excellent coaches.

If you, as a student, are willing to develope a strong relationship with faculty, instead of dodging the rules, your experience at UC would be so much better. I have been at UC for 3 years now and I love it! I grew up in a public school system and moved here my sophomore year and experienced more growth and community than I have in my entire life. The students are friendly and genuine, the teachers are loving and caring, and the faculty and other staff reflect the love of Christ in every aspect of their life. Not only are the academics excellent here, but also University Christian truly is showing kids the love of Christ through worship, academics, sports, and all other school activities. UC is also very mission oriented, having multiple service opportunities and mission opportunities theoughout the year. I have been at University Christian a total of nine years. I absolutely love the family atmosphere. I love the fact that in every class there is a Biblical lesson that is being taught. Our teachers really care about you, and they show it. The teachers are very understanding and are willing to work with you. The number one goal at University Christian is that every student will come to have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. You can sense that. We have chapel every Thursday. Chapel is amazing. We have a worship team and a speaker that brings a well delivered worship service. Many times you will see students on their knees, worshipping and surrendering to God. During these chapels you can definitely sense the Holy Spirit working. This is why I love this school so much, because the Christ-centered environment you are around with great mentors and spiritually sensitive students.

I am a senior at UC and I was a new student last year. One of the truely remarkable things about UC that distinguishes it from any other private school I've been to is the family environment among the students and staff. From my very first day everyone made me feel as though I already belonged in the UC family. The techers are excellent and it's obvious that they care about the students, not just academically, but also personally and spiritually.The administration is also very helpful and supprtive in getting UC students to their next levels of education. I am currently applyingfor the US Air Force Academy, and because UC is much smaller than a regular public school, the administration has been readily available to help me with the numerous forms and documents. If parents want their kids to make great friends and receive a solid Christian education, I would definately encourage them to send their kids to UC!

It is funny that a parent would write that UC students primarily go to FSCJ, Not that I am knocking this college, but that is an UNTRUE statement. I recently inquired about the percentages and was given a completely different answer than that. Knowing many of the students that graduated in the class of 2012, I found that at least half of them were going to a state university such as UNF (primarily), UF, UCF, and FSU. There were a few of them continuing their education at FSCJ to obtain their AA, but what I find most incredible that everyone that I spoke with did not feel that not continuing their education was an option! They felt prepared and ready for the next chapter in their life and were excited. I think if we want to compare apples to apples here, UC has VERY high percentages of continued education over public schools. Their test scores were published and they are above the national average... I wish people would gain facts instead of gossip before posting things. I went to the source and asked a lot of questions and was given accurate information from the CollegeBoard.

As I read the reviews, I see that most have gone through the same things I did. My oldest began UC in k5 and graduated from UC. During that time, I loved this school. BUT, he was my perfect student. When it came to my other children, I found a complete lack of compassion for the students by the administration, a dictatorial and uncaring superintendent and seniors barely attaining combined SAT scores of 1000. In fact, the majority of graduates were not attending college at all or were only accepted by fscj. I could see no difference between uc and a lower tier public school, so my kids no longer attend there. I still have a special place in my heart for the school and many of its faculty, staff and students, but my kids deserve much better and are getting it elsewhere. As one parent said, uc is not college prep or Christian, so what's the point?

This school is not the place to send your children if you want them to get a good Christian education. Even though this school says it is a Christian school it does not support its claim. Horrible education and the faculty are not doing there job right. I go here and I am not satisfied with my education.

I have been a parent at University Christian School since 1999 and this school has been so wonderful to me and my family. They have provided my kids (3 of them) with a very safe, structured family environment that I always feel welcomed in. My oldest son has since graduated and is doing great, my other son is a Junior this year and has had the opportunity to experience the Online Academy as well as in class instruction and has enjoyed having the diversity of curriculum instruction, and my daughter is a 6th grader who is absolutely loving the Bridge Academy! Thank You UCS for all that you are to our community!

I feel as if the facility is being run like a business and not a Christian school for children. Public schools cannot throw children out, unless they perform seriously violent acts, but they have to take them back with behavior interventions. It is my understanding that Christians show patience like in Numbers 14:18, Peter 3:9, & Romans 2:3-4. Where were the behavior interventions? Suspending 4 y/o does not teach them how to change their behavior. My daughter is a 4 y/o and I feel like this school is teaching her that people will give up on her & turn their backs on her when she needs the most guidance & has the most need. This school is teaching her that teachers don't care enough about her to help her learn how to modify her behavior. Have you heard of the saying "It takes a village.."? I also feel like the school gave up too quickly when my daughter challenged their authority.

I have three kids who attend University Christian for the last four years. My daughter just graduated and received a full scholarship to college. My son just finished 10th grade and tested for the College Placement Test and will start his college courses this summer. He was told by the FSCJ instructor that his Math score was the highest that she had graded in Duval County. I also have an upcoming 6th grader. UCS has implemented the Bridge Academy for 5th & 6th graders. They are separate from Elementary and Middle School. This program is wonderful because it prepares him for Middle School.

My husband is a graduate of the school and he wouldn't have our children anywhere else. The class sizes are small and the parent teacher communication is outstanding. Our son is looking forward to the Bridge Academy and all it has to offer. It is our goal to have them at UC until they graduate. The upper school has many dual enrolment classes and extra help in taking the SAT's. We have been very pleased so far.

I am looking to send my son to a Christian School next year. I have been very happy with the info I have received and to see that ALL of their teachers are required to have a BA or a BS degree. Some schools do not require teachers to have a degree and allow them to teach our children by only having a teaching certificate. This school is tops on my list right now. Happy hunting...
