Jax Beach Elementary is truly focused on student success. After transferring from another school, the difference has been remarkable—it’s like night and day. My daughter has significantly improved her grades since joining, and the school fosters a safe, disciplined environment with almost no bullying. We’re incredibly grateful for the positive impact it has had on her education and overall experience.

We have experienced 3 schools with our children and JBE is the best elementary school by far! The teachers have always been my daughter’s cheerleader as well as challenging her academically. The school is run like a well oiled machine. The principal greets every student in the morning as they enter the building and they know every child’s name. I know it’s known academically, but the school definitely has a community feel too!

(1) All homework was clearly specified and expectation set. Regular homework was usually given on Monday and due on Friday. Prior to the due date, students are given the responsibilities of allocating and completing the homework.
(2) No excuse for not turning in homework. I especially liked the "card flip" policy.

My child transferred to JBE to attend 4th grade (gifted track). In the beginning, her grades were mostly in the low A's in the first quarter. She finished with strong A's (the worst grade was 97%). We are grateful for the teachers.

The school utilized "card flip" system to discipline students. When students received less than a 100% on their conduct score, they immediately knew why and the respective parents would notice and had the opportunity to inquire. This school also offered a lot of opportunities for students to participate in building strong character and leadership , such as student council and NEHS (National Elementary Honors Society).

I have not had the opportunity to interact with the principal. However, the school was run smoothly and the students' performance was consistently of high caliber. Without good leadership, it probably would not have happened easily.

In my child's very first year at JBE, she needed some time to adjust to a different educational system. The teacher was delighted in my frequent inquiry into my child's progress and gave me valuable feedback for helping her strive at school.

JBE is a good school overall and it's far better than most Duval County Elementary schools, but if your child needs help keeping up, don't expect them to get help from the school. You really need to be on top of your child to get them to succeed at this school. We're talking at least 1 hour of homework a night starting from grade 1, and it goes up from there. If they have a love for sports or other extracurricular activities, good luck. Also, the quality of the teachers and amount they care about the kids' education seems to vary widely. Some teachers are incredible - among the best, but some are just there to get by and probably belong in a non-magnet school or maybe even in another career. I've seen the quality of the school go down in the past few years with the new leadership.

Caring teachers and staff at the top of their game. They have a strategy for learning and for building character in children. Parents that are very involved and supportive of each other. I have rearranged my home and job around this school because I have 3 children and want to give them all the opportunity to benefit from JBE.

I feel very fortunate that my child is at Jacksonville Beach Elementary. I tried 3 years before my child was accepted through the lottery. All the teachers are outstanding and cohesive with the administration. Moral is high, students are diverse, and parents are active and involved. There are great school activities, programs, and field trips. There are extracurricular opportunities such as Lego League, Chorus, and the annual school play. The PTA is very active. The front office has excellent, consistent, caring staff in Ms. Hoch and Ms. Selby. The children seem happy and are learning at an accelerated rate.

This is our fourth year at JBE. We love love this school and the advanced circulum. It's evident how much further ahead in their education my daughters are when they see their cousins and other friends with similar aged children. My girls are leaps and bounds ahead. I love the staff. Any time we've ever had a concern it had been immediately addressed. This family lives JBE!!

Jax Beach ES (gifted and academically talented magnet school) is a great school. My kids have loved this school and it has really challenged them. Florida gives preference to military families on the schools they want to go to if they aren't zoned for good schools.
