Coming from the Smith/Sutton cluster we didnt know what to expect but wow. This is an incredible school focused on each individual child. They quickly identified my childs academic accomplishments and placed her in a class where she could progress even more. The activities, parental involvement along with IB principles are the icing. Dr. Miller is the most hands on principal I have ever seen. The teachers really care. Many of our neighbors skip the private route because of this school.

HPE is the best! I researched other public/charter options in the area and HPE is by far the best! Dr. Hill is a fast acting principal, who does not allow issues to go unresolved. On most mornings, Dr. Hill greets every student at the front door, by name! My daughter is HF ASD and the special education teachers and support have been top notch! They recommend appropriate accommodations because they have taken the time to get to know my child. The teachers go above and beyond for their students to ensure they are learning in the best learning environment. I can't say enough about HPE! But we love it here!

High Point is incredibly special place. It is the epitome of a melting pot - where a variety of races, religions and cultures are represented and supported within the school. PTO is incredibly supportive and involved - always finding ways give back to the school and engage the community. It is the type of staff where most teachers stay for years and years (if not their whole career!) The principal is incredibly supportive of the teachers and knows almost every single student by name. They do not just care about academics but the character and integrity of the child. If you're looking for a school that is going to leave your fifth grader missing it for years to come, this is the place.

One note: If your child has major learning disabilities but is still making good grades, any public school in the area is not going to be the perfect fit. This is at the fault of the county (and state) not the schools. The county dictates a low percentile cut off to serve students with additional small group support. Some students who could use intervention do not qualify because their scores are not low enough.

I'm excited to share that my two kids are thriving at High Point! Through differentiated learning they are being challenged and supported where they are academically, and the emphasis on social-emotional development and character building from the teachers and through the IB program continues to be a stand-out element of their experience. I love that their natural curiosity and problem-solving skills are being encouraged in the classroom and for their community.

My kids wake up excited to go to school to see their teachers and friends. They are genuinely engaged in what they are learning in the classroom and are eager to share with us at home. All of our teachers to date have been equally invested in my kids' academic progress as well as their overall well-being. Our kids have made great friendships at school which has translated to a whole new set of parent friends for us as well!

I've been very impressed by the communication transparency from the principal as well as the staff culture that the administration team fosters. There truly is an amazing sense of community at High Point; you can tell that the staff wants to be there-- specifically at High Point ES-- as many teachers have come from other FCS/surrounding area schools to work with Dr. Miller and our students.

With so many private schools in our backyard, we've always said that if our neighborhood school failed to fit our students' needs, then we would explore other options. High Point ES continues to meet our high expectations and we're proud to be members of this school community.

As a parent who has experienced other schools in Fulton County, I can confidently say that High Point is by far the BEST when it comes to social and emotional development, parent involvement, community and safety, The teachers and staff superseded our expectations when we transferred from our former private school and I could not be happier with the decision to come to High Point.

The school fosters a strong community where parents are welcome to have a voice, students are not just another "number" and Dr. Miller has worked tirelessly to ensure class sizes are not overwhelming for both students and teachers. The Sandy Springs community is lucky to have such caring and involved administrators where you can feel the warmth and true love right when you come on to campus. We could not be happier!

Focus is on behavior management and rote teaching. Worksheets. Very few creative projects or opportunities for students to drive their own learning in meaningful ways. If you are great at following directions and can provide the right answers, you will thrive. If you are gifted you fare better. Parent volunteering is critical for students' placement in the best teacher classes.

Out of all FCS elementary schools in the Sandy Springs area, HPE is DEFINITELY the way to go. I had sent my daughter to Heards Ferry ES for the first few years of her life and once we had moved, she went to High Point it was such a good change for her. It was more diverse, a better learning environment and I loved how since she was in accelerated math she got to experience math with students in the grade above her. I would have to say it was an overall good experience and she learned better at HPE because of the staff, students and learning strategies.

As a former HP teacher (12 yes), I can tell you first hand that this is the school you want your child to attend. I left teaching (temporarily) to stay home with my babies. We actually moved into the district so that our oldest son could attend in the meantime. You will not find harder working teachers and staff members. Students who need support are given opportunities to succeed and feel seen - with push in and pull out models (EIP, ESL, RTI). Students who are on level are appropriately pushed to meet their full potential. Students who need enrichment are given out of the box opportunities to keep them engaged. (ie: When I taught fourth grade I had second and third graders join my reading and math classes because thats the level of learning they needed). I feel grateful and at peace every single morning when my son leaves for school knowing hes in the best hands. I also love that hes meeting friends from different cultures and backgrounds. Theres a strong focus on the IB traits and I can already tell its making a positive impact on his character. The leadership team is relatively new, but there has been a seamless transition regarding communication and overall effectiveness. Im not wishing these baby years away by any means, but Ill be excited to step back into a teacher role at HP when the time is right for my family.

We absolutely love High Point! There is such a strong since of community at this school which makes it stand out. The teachers and staff are invested in the students in and outside the classroom- youll see them at the ball park or a soccer game, there to cheer on their students on their own precious weekend time. High Point also stands out in the way they are able to meet the unique needs of all learners. The teachers and staff make sure that students meet success whether in getting the extra help they need or pushing them forward to meet new challenges. Every learner is looked at as an individual. We are thankful for the diverse and caring community High Point provides for our children, and the way they meet individual needs to push our children to meet great educational success.

This is our first year at High Point Elementary. I was a little nervous coming from a prestigious Buckhead Preschool that my child would not be challenged enough or find his place. Honestly, we've been really impressed and love that it's a sweet little neighborhood school. While it would be nice for the school to get a renovation/facelift I know that could come in time but it's not a deal breaker either. My child also seems to be learning at the same rate and as well as his friends in Private schools. The principal and teachers are amazing and I hope more and more people in our neighborhood send their kids to HPE or move here to send their kids to our wonderful little school.

Our son has been at High Point since kindergarten and is now in the 4th grade. The overall experience has been fantastic. The teachers truly care and go above and beyond to get the most out of each student. Ms. Pitchford does the same. The PTO is highly involved and greatly supports the school. High Point is a wonderful, caring community. From the beginning of this school year with our kindergartener, our family has been welcomed warmly by the administrators, staff and neighborhood families into this school. It has truly given us a place to belong. Ms. Pitchford and her whole staff are compassionate and innovative. They work tirelessly to keep parents informed and included in all aspects of their childs educational experience. Our son loves his classmates, his wonderful teachers and his school and has learned to think of himself as a scholar with endless learning potential. His confidence has soared! It feels truly wonderful to be a part of a school and community where kindness, compassion and respect for others is emphasized as much as learning.

It is an amazing school where everyone is cared for, no matter what. Teachers are extremely engaged, stay employed for a long time and collaborate close with one another. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the approach to homework, family life, sports and testing are well balanced.

My son is in 3rd grade at HPE, after 3 years in the same school, enjoying and learning, last year we moved and it was a terrible school year, we had to move again for this reason and HPE has been a blessing, my son enjoy every day, and in just two months he has improved a lot, his teacher communicates with me and gives me strategies to support him at home. The school is clean, organized and very clear! and everyone is friendly!

We have two kids at HPE - Kindergarten and 2nd grade and this is our 2nd year at the school. We struggled with whether or not to enroll them in private school or go the public school route (we are both privately educated). We had heard so many positive things about HPE and so many of our friends and neighbors attend that we thought we would "give it a shot" when our son went to 1st Grade. We honestly haven't looked back since. Both of our children are thriving in the HPE environment and I love that they are meeting kids and forming friendships with kids outside of their socio-economic class. We love how the principal is dedicated to being "intentional" - not just giving homework for the sake of giving homework - but when it really counts or when the kids need the extra work.

I was able to get involved (and was recruited!) for the PTO the first year I was there and that is a great way to meet people. They are very involved in the school and you will see us in and out of the school all the time.

I really can't recommend this school enough and we are THRILLED that it is our public school option. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Everything is intentional - the kids aren't doing loads of homework just for the sake of doing homework. The school recognizes that kids are in school for 8 hours a day - no need to do 3 more hours of work when they get home. Get them outside to PLAY!!!

My first grader has an appropriate amount of homework but not busy work. The school feels strongly that children should not be given busy work at home, but that any homework should be meaningful if it is assigned.

High Point's focus on character is one of our favorite things. The IB Program focuses on individual character traits such as being an Inquirer, Risk Taker and Communicator. The focus on compassion and respect for others. Being around children who come from different backgrounds also helps our kids develop compassion and a world-vision more than they would at a homogeneous school.

Reading at night with your children is what is pushed at homework! They value family time and studies have shown that children who read each night for a min of 20 mins statistically do better in school. The teachers are helpful and provide what is needed based on your child.

Excellent! We are so happy with our neighborhood school and are excited about its recent designation as an International Baccalaureate school. My child is thriving and happy! We rate the school based on his achievement and experience rather than composite standardized test scores. He learns new things everyday and he is surrounded by all types of people and friends. The guiding philosophy is that homework should be intentional and meaningful. Teachers ask children to give 100% during the entire school day. Time at home should be used for exploring additional interests, spending time outside and playing with friends and siblings. There is a big emphasis is on reading and my child has been assigned to read at home every night since kindergarten. If a parent wants his/her child to receive more homework all they have to do is ask the teacher.

High point is a Wonderfully diverse school. It is a title 1 school that sits in the midst of a high-income neighborhood. Our children come from all different backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. Parents are actively involved- they donate financially when they can and give generously of their time. The IB world curriculum is perfect for us because it fits with our diverse student body and helps our kids obtain more of a world view than they would at a purely homogenous school. We could not be happier than we are at High Point and are thankful for the wonderful teachers and staff at our school!

Overall the school needs an overhaul of admin with a focus on building the academic success of the school by learning of New curriculum and supports to enhance the education environment. Principle being supportive to her staff instead of attempting to make everyone fit into her small box of thinking. Utilize the arsenal of knowledge staff has and not punish them for wanting to do what is in the best interest of the students. Additionally, have a succesful focus on students outside of targeting and labeling children for reasons the children can't change.

Quality leadership and teachers makes this community school stand out above the rest!!! High Point is an International Baccalaureate School that includes a foreign language (Spanish) as one of the weekly specials for all students K-5. High Point is the only elementary school in Fulton that has 2 recess or movement times in the school day. My 3 children have had a loving and educational experience at High Point.

The first year was rough. My son had a traumatizing experience at another school (HFE) and unfortunately the effects carried over. But, with hard work and a strong team...he loves school and back to his old self! I can't describe how proud I am of my son's accomplishment! Mrs. Wright is the BEST! I don't know where my son would be without her persistence in helping him and working with me. She has been my son's biggest cheerleader! The school is small, diverse, warm and nurturing. It truly feels like a family. This past year has introduce many exciting additions-with extra recess time, IB curriculum and more. My son and I, are looking forward to returning.

We couldn't be happier with HPE. My son had Ms Woods for K this year, and we she was superlative. He just completed the school-funded, month-long summer camp, and was looking forward to it every day.

We have 3 kids who will all be attending HPE. The parental involvement is very high, and we constantly see other parents around the neighborhood at the gym, at restaurants, at the store, etc. It's wonderful having a community school, and you can't easily replicate that experience with the geographic distribution of kids in a private school.

This school has been amazing. My daughter went here for kindergarden and her teacher was ms spears. The whole staff is excellent. The front office people are understanding and very efficient. I never had to pay for school supplies or any field trips anytime i needed to speak to the teacher i always got an email or phone call right away. My daughter is reading writing counting adding and subtracting and has learned so much. She's happy to go to school everyday. If i could give it 10 stars i would.

We could not be happier with High Point! We had planned on sending our kids to private school and were very disappointed when they were full. We decided to try High Point based on the rave reviews from our neighbors. Two years later, we are so happy we made the decision to join High Point. The teachers, administration, and parent involvement is exceptional. I would not consider moving to a private school.

I wanted to write this review in response to the parent who posted about the special education program. We moved in to this area about a year ago and were skeptical about High Point after seeing their rating on this website, but heard nothing but fantastic reviews from neighbors whose children attend the school. We started our child at High Point just this fall in the special education preschool program and have seen amazing progress in his development. When he started at age 3.5, he could barely communicate and his social interaction with other children was poor. After just this fall semester he is speaking in 2 to 3 word sentences, plays with other children, and he even sings (!). His teachers are amazing, and so dedicated, and genuinely care about the kids. The main teacher is constantly in touch with me about his daily activity and progress. Our child wakes up every morning excited to ride the bus to school and to go see "teacher". Overall, our experience with the special education program at High Point has been very positive and to any parent in the area that is considering whether or not this program is right for your special needs child, I would recommend it.

it is already a difficult enough challenge to raise children but when you have a child with different learning abilities, it is heartbreaking and a frightening obstacle to release your child into the public out of fear of being misunderstood by those who are uneducated or insensitive. Though he received therapy in our home state he had never received an education in a public educational setting and regrettably this was our first experience. His asst principal referred to his behavior as typical for pre-k children who had never been to school and when I decided to w/d him from school his teacher showed no concern. I sincerely believe his teacher and the asst principal were not prepared to handle a child of special needs as they encouraged me to call Heards Ferry to place my son in a class. As of today I have yet to receive a call from the asst principal regrading her actions to unethically suspend him. I have only rcvd an email. I hope the best for those that attend this school whether your child is typical or special needs.

My daughter is in Kindergarten this year at High Point. she attended Pre-k at highpoint last year and we were impressed with the parent participation and the level of commitment the Principal and teachers have for their students. Most of our friends in the area have children attending private schools and we considered this as an option. After touring the school and speaking with several of the parents in the PTA, we made the decision that High Point would be a great learning environment for our children. My child is a forward thinker and very curious about the world. I was concerned that public school might stifle this. But i have found that the teachers have nurtured these strengths thus far. I believe that High point is a hidden gem!

This is our 3rd year at High Point and we are so happy with our decision to attend this wonderful neighborhood school. The principal is fabulous and provides excellent support to the teachers, staff, families, students and the PTA. It is a very special place with enthusiastic teachers who care deeply about each student s success. The front desk seems to know every student and family by name and is always more than helpful with whatever anyone needs. The school is well equipped to challenge students of all different levels and to give each child the best education possible. The hallways are calm and quiet and the students are courteous, well behaved and happy to be at school. Our family loves the community feel of the school and our children continue to thrive in both their academics and social life at school.
