Thank you God! We just find this school. My joined this year we love it. Teachers are very good and they challenge the students and students are finishing home work at school there is always Teachers around to help. Also students do a lot of activities after home work. My son got great grades. We are great full.

Now that the former principal is gone (sorry Centennial HS) we are going places with this school.

Learning/Teachers: the teachers try. They country harder responding to parents. I work too. If I didnt respond to my clients/business partners I would likely be out of a job. My child had a teacher that wouldnt follow his individualized plan because it challenged her own. Thank god shes gone. No one liked her anyways.

Social emotional support: could still do better. We had a horrific case of bullying with the previous principal. The current admin didnt do a great job resolving it, and it actually adversely affected my childs year last year. When a child - CHILDREN - and parent come to you with facts, listen. Dont shove administrative bullsht paperwork at them and pretend that absolves those issues. Do better.

Safety: I reported a threat and the vice principal said she knew for a fact the kids couldnt act on it. They threatened to bring guns to school. Nothing was done. Thanks for that vote on safety.

Family engagement: the PTA definitely tries.

Despite the above I would recommend this school. I like that it is diverse. All schools have their own problems.

We have been very impressed with the teaching staff at RCMS and the overall feel of the school. There is such a wide variety of classes and activities for the students- Orchestra, Band, Chorus and foreign languages are offered as a part of the daily curriculum. The parent-run Foundation provides funding to support extra sports programs as well- including softball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball, tennis....the list goes on. Everywhere you turn there is something going on and a way for students to try new things. Parents seem very engaged and supportive of the school programs. The IB program at Ridgeview is a huge plus for us as well because we feel it will best prepare our children to participate in the International Baccalaureate degree program available in high school. We feel very fortunate to have such a good public middle school available in our neighborhood.

This was my childs first year at RCMS and a warm welcome was not given. He was immediately judged and harassed not by students but by teachers. If your child has an IEP I would NOT recommend this school. My child experienced being singled out by staff, his grades were not updated in the system until it was time to turn in grades. Therefore, I did not know my child was missing or having trouble in any class until the very last minute. I sent emails to teachers constantly only to have them harass my child even more. This is not the type of professionalism I would expect from a school.

We just finished our 6th grade year at RCMS. It was outstanding! The education is top notch! We could not have asked for a better 1st year of middle school. Each teacher truly loves teaching middle school children. We participated in band, robotics, and a few sports. Each was engaging and each teacher/coach worked on the students as a whole - academic, social, emotional. A gem of a school in Sandy Springs and we are lucky to be a part of this community!

Ridgeview Charter Middle School is a wonderful neighborhood school! The administration and staff are very engaged with students. We are just beginning our middle school journey in the sixth grade but we've been very impressed with the quality of instruction and level of communication from teachers. The music program (band, orchestra and chorus) really stands out among other schools with very high levels of participation.

We also love the diversity offered at the school, both ethnic and socioeconomic. Overall, it has been a great experience so far and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ridgeview to anyone in the district. We feel fortunate to be here!

Our family has had an overall wonderful experience with our first two years at Ridgview and look forward to many more as our younger children pass through the halls. I commend the Administration and teachers on their effective communication with parents. I feel like they are always a step ahead and ready to address any issues/questions that arise. I am very proud that our local cluster of schools (Elementary, Middle and High) are all on the path of the International Baccalaureate (IB) holistic educational approach. Over the years I have had the opportunity to be actively involved with the PTA, Foundation and Governance Council and found through those experiences that there is an overwhelming support from our community. These programs have helped shape and fund many extra programs (music, arts, sports, curriculum, community involvement) for our student body. There is a sense of pride and community when you walk into the building and it is refreshing to see that reflected in the attitude of the students.

The teachers are very effective communicators, sometimes calling directly to tell us good things about our son. They advocate for their students and help them discover hidden talents. They took very decisive action regarding a bullying situation that happened this year, and validated our concerns and kept us involved every step of the way. High praise for elective courses--Chorus and AudioVisual Broadcasting and Communications. We have also seen how the iReady system supports the day-to-day curriculum by giving students additional opportunities to build their skills in Math and Reading. Grateful for the diversity at Ridgeview and the feeling of togetherness.

Our son transferred from a small private school and I was apprehensive about him attending a large public school. I was surprised and pleased by the engagement of the teachers and small size classes. The wholistic approach of IB is well executed at Ridgeview. My son was well prepared for Riverwood where he is thriving.

Having 2 children attend Ridgeview, we can absolutely attest to the incredible education our children received. The Administrators and Educators are extremely responsive and communicate well both with parents and students. Class sizes are small and the Teachers truly demonstrate their love for what they do. Ridgeview pays attention to each student's academic success and challenges and designs the level of rigor your child needs. Their International Baccalaureate (IB) and Blue Ribbon School status attests to the commitment this school has to brining a holistic educational approach to our children. Ridgeview has a 'No Place for Hate' designation to teach anti-bullying and positive citizenship. Most important, they design Homework at the appropriate level for middle school so our kids learn resilence while not becoming overwhelmed. Ridgeview has an engaged PTA, Foundation, and Governance Council representation--and plenty of exciting and diverse opportunity for all!

While most middle schools do not have the best reputations, Ridgeview certainly bucks that trend. Recently awarded the prestigious Lighthouse award, recognizing the top handful of middle schools across the country, Ridgeview is an incredible blend of strong academics and a warm community. At the top, the administration is second-to-none and leads in a friendly-yet-steady manner that makes the campus so inviting for teachers, students and families. The teachers are engaged and genuinely interested in helping students succeed, regardless of academic level. And the community is amazingly diverse, with families from all over the world and right around the corner weaving together to create a true community. Strong leadership by the administration, the School Governance Council, the PTA and the Foundation make Ridgeview a welcoming place to get involved and see children thrive.

My son is finishing 6th grade and even during this challenging COVID 19 pandemic, he has flourished in the school. He enjoys the extracurricular activities at the school and he likes the way the teachers are responsive to his questions and inquiries. There is a zero tolerance policy for bullying and administration is very responsive to such incidents.

I currently have 2 children at Ridgeview, and 1 is finishing up this year and headed to Riverwood High School next year. I have a 3rd child that is going to Ridgeview next year as well. We are so happy with our choice of schools for our children. We purchased our home with the intent of sending our kids to this IB cluster, and we have never looked back. It was important to us to send our children to a public school with a diverse community and plenty of academic and athletic activities to participate in. Our children have excelled in academics with the help of small classroom sizes and wonderfully attentive teachers. I have never heard one complaint about bullying from my children, and I know the school and Dr. Blackwell take student safety very seriously. I appreciate the way COVID precautions were handled this past year+. The school communicated timely and effectively. I am so thankful for our Foundation that I also supported, as my children were able to enjoy sports, band, and chorus as 6th graders (and beyond) due to Foundation fundraising. The PTA which I also supported did a great job of taking care of our students' and teachers' needs throughout the year. Signup was easy and there were plenty of volunteer opportunities communicated throughout the years for those that wanted to be involved. Homework amount was appropriate, and I feel that the children were able to balance academics and sports without being overwhelmed. They built beautiful friendships at Ridgeview with the students and some of the faculty. Some of the teachers even showed up to my kids' games just because they asked them to! I also received personal messages from teachers on how my child was progressing. They communicated any classroom needs for specialty projects, so the students would always have everything they needed for their learning experiences. I have no doubt my youngest will have a wonderful experience at Ridgeview just as his older sisters did.

I have three children at 3 different schools (one in private) and I am more than thrilled with Ridgeview. The teachers, the administration and especially the Principal are amazing and know each of our children individually. The academics are challenging, the sports programs are well run and the community of parents is off the charts. My oldest graduated from Ridgeview and is now thriving at Riverwood High School. Without a doubt - I would recommend Ridgeview to any parent!

We have had a wonderful experience at Ridgeview Charter Middle School for the past 4 years. The staff is amazing and we have had some of the best teachers at Ridgeview in our 10 years at FCS. The class sizes are usually small and teachers are very good at communicating and generally giving homework appropriate for Middle School students. Positive behaviors are reinforced regularly and administrative communication is the BEST! The music program is very impressive and dedicated to encouraging students to explore and excel in any instrument they choose.

We had an excellent experience at Ridgeview. The 8th grade team was well equipped to prepare our student for high school. Mr. Blackwell has worked at the high school level which is an advantage in facilitating the transition from middle school to high school. I was very impressed with the rigor and relationships that teachers developed with my (& other) student(s).

My son has been at RCS for 2 years and I have been highly impressed with the teachers & administration. Most recently my son broke his leg and has had some very big obstacles to over come. The nurse at the school, Laura Gordon, is nothing but fabulous. She is so giving, loving and supportive. She has gone out of her way to help me and my son make it work so he is not too challenged at school. The principal and assistant principal are welcoming and easy to speak with as they are always open to hear every side of every story. I am very thankful we live in this community and have the opportunity to take advantage of this wonderful school. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!!!!!!

This school is quite diverse ethnically as well as economically with the potential for significant conflict. However, its diversity is one of the strongest assets of RCS. The core values of the school are emphasized early on when 5th graders & their parents first visit. Personal integrity, compassion for others, respect for others as well as respect for oneself, are basics that are not negotiable at RCS & it is amazing to observe middle school aged students grasp & embrace the concept. This is definitely a life lesson that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Again our only reference point is TAG (Talented & Gifted) & Accelerated (next grade) students. Core subject - math, science, ELA (English Language Arts) & social studies teachers have been EXCELLENT! Both girls have enjoyed their teachers & felt challenged in their classes. We believe their high scores on national level standardized tests are a reflection on the effectiveness of their teachers. These teachers have also communicated well with parents.

I can only address the assignments for TAG & Accelerated classes. Generally "homework" is used to evaluate how well the material has been comprehended & not as daily assignments. For that reason they are given credit for completing the assignment, not for performance on the assignment. Consequently it is not a huge factor in their overall grade & we believe it is a very good approach. That being said, there is also "work" that is "done at home" (in the form of projects, presentations & research, both individual & group), that requires time beyond the classroom, due within a specified timeframe not as an overnight assignment. So, typically, each day there is work to be done at home.

We believe our twin daughters have received an exemplary education in their 3 years at RCS. They are both in TAG (Talented & Gifted) or Accelerated (next grade level) classes & their core subject - math, science, ELA (English Language Arts) & social studies teachers have been truly EXCELLENT. While the girls have done very well at RCS they have also excelled on national standardized tests which we believe reflects highly on their RCS teachers & the quality of education available at RCS.
After attending (the small old) Heards Ferry, K-6, we seriously considered private school for middle school. Frankly, the huge size & diversity of RCS seemed daunting. Knowing what we now know, I cannot tell you how foolish we would feel now if we had pursued that course. We truly believe that the education that our daughters have received at RCS is on par with, or exceeds, that offered by private schools (or other systems such as East Cobb).
Two other exceptional aspects of RCS are the music & athletic programs. The music program is phenomenal with no comparable program in the Fulton County. One daughter has flourished in band and the other in chorus. The orchestra program is also exceptional. RCS is unique in Fulton County in offering 6th grade sports sponsored by the RCS Foundation. Both girls played volleyball.
As to the huge size & diversity issues, our apprehension was unnecessary. The grades are separated by different sections of the building & hallways & there is minimal interaction. Diversity is actually one of the strongest assets of RCS. The core values of the school are emphasized during 5th graders & their parents first visit. I chose agree because we have not had any bullying experiences, nor have we heard of any, I do know that the students receive a good amount of anti-bullying re-enforcement & assume that the message must be getting through. I believe this is also a by-product of the overall compassion & respect atmosphere emphasized at RCS.

I have two daughters attending this school. Our experience has been wonderful. The teachers are invested in the children and in teaching. My children are being challenged and supported. The music programs and the sports that are offered are amazing, and a wonderful opportunity for all students to explore new interests. My interaction with the principal has been limited, but demonstrates his desire to see our school and all students succeed.

This is our first year here And it has been just a whirlwind. My daughter has special needs and she needs to be accommodated she forgets a lot and needs that extra push...home works assignments are hard to come by I've had 3 IEP meeting and still needs are not being met. First day of school they put my daughter on the wrong bus. I will be going in again and this time to speak with the principal about my wants and needs for my child. It gets very frustrating knowing that I am doing my part as the parent but no constant communication with teachers. They want you to purchase lockers, pe uniforms, if they have an elective its more money out of your pocket, and on top if that they are fixated on the uniforms. I'm very disappointed!

If your child has any learning disabilities, or special needs, stay clear of Ridgeview as there is not a large support system in place for such cases. As a caretaker for a child with disabilities who has attended this school, I saw little to no action implemented to effectively accommodate the child's needs. Instead of providing the adequate care to ensure the child was in a productive environment, the staff responded without a sense of urgency and seemed to lack respect, and even belief to/of the child's needs. The "resolution" that was provided only exacerbated the child's issues as these practices were poorly executed and in turn created an environment that isolated the child which opened a door for bullying and alienation due to the complete absence of tact and subtlety on the matter. This caused an extremely toxic reaction in the child that resulted in countless therapy sessions and psychiatric visits. I do not recommend this school for any parent/caregiver/guardian of a child that requires special attention due to physical or mental handicaps because from what I've seen, they will not receive it at Ridgeview Charter School.

Communication from the school is often confusing and disingenuous. The school website and numerous school publications state that joining and paying dues to the PTA is required of all parents. This is not true; the school and district cannot force a parent to join a private organization to attend a public school. Emails from parents to the principal often go unreturned, and communications from her are confusing and full of academic buzz words. It seems to us she is more concerned with impressing her district supervisors than running a high performing school. The IB/MYP continues to be an utter failure at teaching students basic middle school material - as evidenced by another year of under performing GA state averages on most CRCT tests, but the curriculum does excel at one IB priority: creating 'compassionate global citizens'. 'Global' is such a priority that classroom learning shuts down for three days every year while they run the RCS Olympic games and make students parade with foreign flags and cheer for foreign countries. Sadly, the USA is not invited to the Ridgeview Olympics. If we could afford a private school we would leave.

So they have recently added new administrators theirs this on guy who just gives iss or OSS for the dumbest reasons. The new school system is really messed up. The 8th graders had gotten silent lunch and that administrator went in the lunch room and said "if y'all talk say goodbye to your crct chances because your gonna get OSS." So the student went to get his lunch. He said thank you to the lunch lady and the administrator said "hey when your done paying for your food go to the wall and stand there." He also said "did I not speak Spanish?" The student said "wow really your gonna give me oss just because I said thanks to the lunch lady?" So he asked her and she said yes. He said "of my apologies." Like who gives iss or OSS for talking at lunch like at least give them detention.

RCS does have wonderful arts and sports programs - music, drama, chorus, and all types of athletics are a big part of each day and most communications sent home, but theses items seem to take a priority above core academics. The standardized test scores for RCS are usually at or below state average, so there is plenty of room for improvement and it is a real shame the more important subjects are not the dominate priority. There is also an over emphasis by the principal on school uniform and adhering to every little rule rather than focus on teaching the students. A Charter is supposed to provide a school more flexibility to teach in more creative and effective ways than state laws typically allow. It seems the charter at RCS is being wasted and so far we are disappointed.

I do not know how well this school teaches their students as far as classes are concerned, but I went into this school to complain about the filth all around the school and the grounds. It appears that the adults and staff allow these students to throw their junk food wrappers, water bottles etc. everywhere. It is discussing. When I complained the secretary said " I am sure things were perfect when you were young " how sarcastic! Keeping our enviroment picked up is as important as math. The message is, I am not responsible. We spend all sorts of our government money on being green, but this school allows the kids to trash their school and the message is, it is ok!!!!!

Don't let the great schools rating concern you. This public school offers more opportunities than any other public or private school in the area. With almost 70% of the students involved in a music program (yes, there are multiple choirs, band, orchestra, jazz band and a percussion ensemble) and sports offered to ALL grades through a non-profit foundation, the extracurricular activities only enhance the academics. The leadership is outstanding, instilling a culture of celebrating diversity and supporting one another. A middle school where every student can find their place.

I am pleased with Ridgeview Charter school. My granddaughter is a new student to this school and already she is excited by what goes on there, she is excited to get up and go every morning, she made friends easily and is finding the teachers and staff to be very helpful and the students as well. I will enjoy working with the staff to ensure the children are getting the best quality education. Thanks for the opportunity to give my opinion.

My eighth grader's educational experience at Ridgeview Charter Middle School has been a disaster. Meetings with teachers were not logged, learning plans and his IEP were not followed, and general anarchy is how it works there. Unfortunately we don't find this out until the end of the year. All they are concerned about is that the children wear uniforms - how pedestrian. This charter school is a failure. I hate that because we live in the charter school district my child is forced to go to one of these poor excuses for an educational system. Charter schools have simply brought another level of awful to the public school system. It's beginning to look like I'll have to home school another of my boys to undo the mess this charter school has made. Argh!

Outstanding teachers!! I am amazed by the passion and strong caliber of the educators at this school, especially science, math, language arts and french subjects. Most of the students particiate in the music program which is stellar!!

I am now a 6th grader at Ridgeview and i was scared to coe to the school from the reviews. It is actually a great school compared to what it used to be. The principle is Mrs. Hastey and she is very nice and she loves her job. All the teachers in 6th grade are nice and into their jobs. It is an IB ( International Baccalaureate) school, so we follow the IB traits. Our uniform policy is more strictly enforced now. I am on the soccer team and in chorus. The athletics have gotten better and the music program is still amazing. Ridgeview might of had some troubles in the past but it has all blown by, it is amazing and i will cherish every moment of it.
