Always felt well informed about any school activities. Great, caring faculty and staff. Safe school for kids! It's not easy finding a great school for your kids as a military parent, but BES has been great!

My son transition here from California during the middle of his 3rd grade year. The staff were very welcoming and helped him through it. For the past year and half, all of the staff has showed great interest in helping him progress by emails, phone calls, and parent/teacher meetings. The principle does great to help keep parents informed by pre-recorded phone calls regularly. He doesnt take many field trips but that isnt a necessary requirement in my book. There are still plenty of after school events to keep families involved and I have never felt turned away.

MILITARY FAMILIES HEED THIS WARNING:
This is for the military people who are looking to move here please read this. This school used to be one of the best in the county but unfortunately it has gone down hill the last few years. You are not welcomed here at this school and they push the parents out and do not welcome involvement. Things will happen to your children at this school and they will not tell you. If your child is a special needs child you can forget about them being treat fairly or getting proper assistance. You have to fight tooth and nail to try and get them to do the right thing. The teacher are mediocre and always look miserable. The front office people are rude and do not want to be helpful in any way. Please when you read know that from one military member to another you want the best for your children and this place is not it when it comes to education. If you want the best school go private or move to the west side of town for the better schools. Good Luck!

We moved here last fall and the experience has been great. He was transitioned into 1st grade in the middle of the year and although, the mid-year move was difficult, it went well. The start of 2nd grade has been great. We have enjoyed Bonaire Elem very much. I give it a great recommendation.

My son has been to Bonaire for 2 years and I am very disappointed. a He started school in 1st grade at a very advanced level and has fallen back because he has not been challenged. They put all their focus on the AR program and ignore other subjects. My son reads on 6th grade level entering 3rd grade but all of the AR work is done from home. Students are req'd to complete X number of AR tests per week but teachers often don't budget time for them to actually take the tests. My son has not been in a single program nor on a single field trip in 2 years but tells me the "focus" students go on field trips all the time. Tests scores are not really valid because I've been told 2 years in a row that my son who "deserves" the highest rating can't get one until the end of the year because the teachers "have to show improvement" on paper. What does that say to kids? Students who work extra hard can't get the highest mark (3s) so they get the same grade as kids who don't work hard and don't pay attention. I could go on for days on why I don't like Bonaire Elementary but there are not enough characters remaining to do so on this site. We are looking for a new school immediately.

My son went to Bonaire Elementary last year and is now at the middle school. Our experience with the school has been excellent amongst the teachers and staff. In 3rd grade, he needed some reading help and has been doing excellent since! He also was involved in choir and percussion ensemble there and has had a lot of fun. He is now in the 6th grade beginning band and loves it!

My son is in 5th grade at Bonaire Elementary. He hated school until he started in 4th grade at Bonaire Elementary. He has been on an individualized learning program since he was 3. He was reading at a kindergarten level when he started 4th grade at Bonaire. He is currently reading at a 4.5 grade level. The teachers and staff really care about the kids learning and well being.
