Lots of favoritism and politics in the school. If your child is one of the big Valdosta families, you are guaranteed a spot in any club or sports team. The staff is disconnected from the kids and shows little interest in teaching/ coaching young athletes.

Horrid school. The flag incident, Kendrick Johnson, overall censorship of actually important things. There is no GSA or help for lgbtq+ students, I mean the solution for a hate crime at this school was to just ban flags. There was no discussion on how harmful stereotypes of lgbtq+ students can result in violence or bullying, just a reminder over the intercom of the "crimson creed". CLEARLY your students do not care, racism and homophobia/transphobia is incredibly rampant at this school. The academics are okay.

This school recently had a threat against the school. The school was aware of the threat before school started. Parents were not notified until late afternoon. Parents went to the school to pick up their children. The front staff told the parents that the kids were making excuses just to be picked up.

Let the rich kids run wild and say whatever they please because their parents fund the school.

Students are bullied and put down by higher-income kids and teachers. Favoritism is a huge factor in the cliques of this school.

This school is absolutely horrible. If you are not a member of an influential family or a notable alumni, you will not be heard. You are not cared for. The kids with prominent families run rampant around the school, vaping/smoking on school grounds and even in class, bully other students, and disrespect teachers because their parents are key in funding. Many teachers are also in prominent families and give these kids a pass to run wild and disrupt other kids who arent as financially lucky.

Great school. Moved here from an excellent district that was out of state. Well organized, consistent, excellent communication, multitude of activities, inclusive, broad spectrum for learning differences. Many AP classes, encourages college prep. Wonderful experience.

Having lived in the Northern Lowndes County, Valdosta area for 8 yrs and having experienced several other school systems due to life as a military family, I can say without a doubt that Lowndes High School and the Lowndes County School District has been one of the best we have been fortunate enough to experience. My oldest son graduated from this school & now only needs 1 more yr to graduate from college with his Bachelors in Fine Arts. He has been attending VSU full-time. My youngest son only needs 2 more yrs to graduate from Lowndes High. He has been taking all Pre-AP class previously but wants to start taking AP classes in Junior. So many of the teachers are so caring. They really want the kids to learn. The fine arts & the technology programs have been top notch from elementary to high school level. Yes, the demographics are slanted but that is just how this area is. Being hispanic myself I know but I have never felt any animosity. The town is small but not too small. A school can only do so much parents need to become involved too.

Lowndes High School is a leader in secondary education in South Georgia and North Florida. The AP program and duel enrollment opportunities provides college bound students with a springboard into higher education. Students who graduate from LHS are ready for college curriculum. Teachers are loving and caring but firm and demanding. The administration has a history of success in helping student to succeed. Superintendent Wes Taylor is as good as they come. Not a bad sports and extracurricular program too!!
