My son started attending this school in 3rd grade and I couldnt be more happy. All of his teachers are communicative and friendly. The ladies at the front desk have always been welcoming. I also like the fact that there are two doors you have to get buzzed into before youre able to get into the school - Im big on school safety. The staff in the carpool line also makes us feel appreciated by doing random things. At the beginning of the new year, they gave all carpool parents goody bags full of snacks.

Trash. They dont handle bullying. Ineffective teaching and curriculum. Luckily Im a teacher myself or my child would be doomed. Please find a different school. Theyll try to force you to sign your child up for reading or math assistance. I had a medical setback but after coming home and working with my child he was better in a week. They just arent teaching them!

This school i do not reccomend, the teachers and staff are very rude and dismissive of the parents concern my 7th grader has went this school for 5 years and also my 5th grader its horrible they treat the kids in a rude manner and dismiss bullying, they want the parents and children ,to be the ones accepting all the crappy moods the teacher dishes out!!

Terrible school! My daughter attended from kindergarten until 2nd grade and there was literally a major incident that happened every year. In kindergarten she was sent home on the bus after I properly communicated with them not to send her home on the bus. When I get to the school my child is no where to be found and no one can tell me where my child is I had to rush home just to find her walking home alone. 1st grade a bullying incident went on for way too long even after my numerous complaints the final breaking point came when there was a school event and the child that was bullying was attempting to put my daughter in a chokehold I had to step in and get the child off her because the teachers were just standing around. In 2nd grade her teacher just disappeared, my daughter kept coming home telling me they had a sub. I started to get concerned because not only did they stop receiving homework but there was no communication from the admin team and we had no idea what the kids were learning. I finally reached out to the admin team demanding answers and Dr. Brown Miller couldnt see why neglecting to tell the parents the teacher was no longer at the school was a problem. She kept making poor excuses for her and the admin team negligence regarding the students education. When the new teacher finally came she stated how majority of the class was behind and how she was concerned for them going into 3rd grade because the sub that was in the class was not teaching them but instead passing out worksheets. The front office sucks at communication, I would send my daughters doctors note for excused absent and they wouldnt put them in the system causing the school social worker to contact me even though the absents were valid. You also have to follow up with the front staff about things several times in order to get results. This school is just awful they try to act like theyre all that by having all these unnecessary school events to make up for the poor communication and poor excuses. We have switched to a local charter school and were already happy with the switch!

I believe that this is the best Elementary school in the Marietta school district. The teachers are extremely warm and friendly, the principal is involved and know each student by name. Miss Daniel's at the front desk always make my visits friendly, greets with a smile. I find them all amazing.
Dr. McAlpin is a miracle worker. I thank her for loving my princess and taking her grades from 0 to 10.

The Teachers at this school called my ESOL and Special Ed son a disgrace to society and that he should give up on his dreams. when I say I do NOT recommend this school I mean I do NOT. If you have a special needs student do NOT bring it here. My son also received slurs and comments about his condition, KEEP YOUR STUDENT AWAY.

Dunleith is growing and helping out children to grow. The principal knows children by name. The teachers have a heart for the students and high expectations. The DLI (Dual Language Immersion) program is phenomenal. They are beginning to host events again, and we just had a great art night and movie night. For students who need additional help, they offer after-school tutoring. When parents work with their child's teacher, our school becomes a community. I've enjoyed the last 3 years at Dunleith, and I'm excited for the gains that will continue to come.

Dunleith has been a horrible experience for my children and myself. They have a high turnover rate for staff and they do little to nothing regarding bullying. The teachers yell at the students all-day. Its insane. My children will not step foot in this school another year.

Dunleith is an excellent school that works hard to teach all learners. The teachers and staff are friendly and welcoming. Whenever, I reach out with a concern it it always addressed quickly and I feel heard. I could not be happier with our school. They even have a Dual Language Immersion Program where students learn in English and Spanish. Dunleith is a gem!

I love this school! Dunleith has a very energetic staff that creates a family environment for their students. Also, Dunleith provides numerous programs, such as Dual Language Immersion, Early Intervention, and Gifted Curriculum, to offer students an alternative approach to traditional education. Combined that with an active PTA that collaborates with community partners, Dunleith Elementary delivers the environment for academic success.

This school does a poor job at putting kids/children first. I would not have my child attend this school if at all possible. They do not care about the kids.

My son was bullied and the school did nothing about it. In fact, they had my son write an apology to the student who bullied him. Ridiculous.

Students who had issues seemed to get the help they needed. But students who did well did not receive the help they needed. Almost as if they were being held back because of the students with learning issues.

My son was bullied/ punched at lunch time. I did not receive a call about the incident until 3pm. And they had my son write an apology letter to the student who bullied him.

My son began this school late due to a relocation. However, I am grateful for his teacher who consistently challenges my son to work hard and be creative. Sometimes I would drop in my sons classroom to volunteer with reading to the class and assist with the school functions. Overall, we have been pleased. I can say that its not just sending your child to school but actually becoming involved to gain a better understanding of how the classroom functions and most importantly how your child is responding. This school is also wonderfully diverse with children of different cultures and backgrounds which places the experience for my family of many cultures over the top. Thank you Dunleith Elementary for your exceptional level of greatness and especially Dr. Hurt for your leadership and great compassion.

If you are a parent of a special needs child, and you want to raise your child to be a well educated, productive citizen, then this is not the school for your child. You will find yourself constantly fighting for your child's right, with no success. If you visit the school unexpectedly, the staff will get on their Walkie talkies and alert the teacher as if they have something to hide, as well as you will not feel welcomed in the class. They prefer that you give them prior notification that you are coming so they can stage it. If you send the teacher an email, you might get a response, and if you do, it will be days later. If you ask the teacher a question relating to your child's education, the teachers are allowed (by the Principal) to disrespect you, with no consequences to the teacher. The overall experience at this school has been completely stressful and unsatisfactory.

This school is steadily improving. As the parent of a special needs child, it's wonderful to see my child happy to go to school. I just wish that there was an After School Program for special needs children.

This school use to be great. My daughter had Ms.Mills which is an Excellent teacher she had my daughter reading on 3rd grade level and she was in the 1st grade. Unfortunately the have a new principal who isn't friendly. Nor do she bother to try to help parents with their concerns. At some point staff began dropping like flies and I can't help but to think this principal played an important part. When my daughter went on to the 2nd grade her reading had dropped due to them pulling kids out of the room left and right testing them trying to get the kids that had fell behind on reading level. I can't wait to move to find a better school for my child to attend.
