This school is great on paper. There's a lot of clubs kids can join (HOSA, TSA, Skills USA, Orchestra, the Reading, Math, and Science Bowls, ACADECA, etc.) and a whole bunch of AP and Dual Enrollment classes for the nerds (including yours truly). On the other hand, if you actually go to this school, it's a lot like a regular middle/high school. Unfortunately, there isn't a basketball or football team, which a lot of kids are upset about. A lot of the kids are pretty nice, even though bullying is still a bit of a problem at our school, but not as much as the average middle/high school. One of the great things about our school is that there are both middle and high school students, which makes the transition to high school a lot easier. High school really starts in 8th grade because there are four high school classes that they take (for high school credits): Algebra I, Physical Science, Spanish/Latin I (Latin is required for everyone in Healthcare), and Engineering/Healthcare I. (For any new 8th graders joining in 24-25, the other classes are 8th grade ELA, Georgia Studies, and Study Skills/Orchestra, and all the teachers are awesome). This year, though, they traded out Spanish/Latin I for PE, and I feel like that might be detrimental to students in Healthcare to put off Latin for a year. One problem I have, though, is that the school started to separate the middle and high schools. For example, middle schoolers have to eat breakfast in the gym, while high schoolers have to eat in the cafeteria in a school of 700. A lot of things have been disorganized over the past year+, and it's starting to turn into a problem. Sometimes the school misses mandatory competitions, schedules were completely unstable for the first few weeks, and in some classes, we have teachers on Zoom with paraprofessionals (even though they're awesome) instead of face to face teachers. The school also hasn't done a great job of notifying parents or students of upcoming events. Their website also needs a lot of updating. The principal is currently intensely focused on the school specific dress code (for example, no hair colors outside of the "natural" range) rather than more pressing issues of conduct and safety. I love ARJ, and it is awesome, but there are a lot of things that need improvement.

This school offers classes and resources unavailable to other students focusing on STEM, Engineering, and Health Sciences. It is a small community type of atmosphere where all students feel included and welcome. Teachers and students conduct themselves in a respectful manner. The school holds/conducts many events that offer resources and support to students, i.e. SRNS Engineering Worcshop, First Lego League Competition, College Night, etc. The teachers strive for continuous growth through many trainings and events. The administration cares deeply for the students and their success and it shows in the way they interact with both the students and teachers. If you have a child who excels and wants above and beyond instruction in math and science content, and would like to pursue a career in them, this is the place for you!

Dont come to this school. This is the lamest Magnet School in Richmond County. Mr. Tudor was the best principle we had, we had fun with him! Our new principal strips us of our freedom. As a magnet school we barley have sports and fun events as it is. But the new principal took away our Spring spirit week! The administration does not care about grader or joe teachers speak to us. However, they quick to give detention to kids for the littlest things.

My son had a bully, I contacted the school and my son reported it stopped. Im not sure what actions the school took per hippa but it was isolated. 9 th graders are nice and participate in gum with my son, I was surprised by this. Seems like a great school with nice kids. My son has just finished his first semester there.

The teachers here showed favoritism and didnt seem to care about whether we actually learned. My friends and I were bullied and the teachers saw and allowed it. There werent really any fun things for students to do, there werent extracurricular activities and sports teams, and they ruined the one thing we looked forward to every year: Spirit day. My biggest regret is attending this high school.

Not too sure how this school got its ratings. There is a serious bullying problem there that is ignored. We spoke to the administrators and the problem just continues. Some of the classes are poorly handled by teachers and students do as they please. This school is no different than the other Richmond County public schools.

As a former student I look back at my four years at ARJ with great fondness. I could not appreciate the education and preparation for college and life that I received from ARJ at the time. The class I graduated with has produced many highly educated professionals such as physicians, nurses, speech therapists, chiropractors, engineers, military officers, business owners, etc. I would love to be able to give exact numbers but unfortunately I have lost contact with many of my former classmates. I'm certain that if you ask each of them what led to their success, ARJ and its teachers would be part of their answer. Go Panthers!
