My family moved from South Carolina where our child attended a STEM-curriculum charter school. She was doing OK-ish, there was a lot of teacher turnover and the special services process was very delayed. Our child struggled to read and as parents, we struggled with knowing what to do to help. Once at Barton Chapel we saw immediate improvement in reading ability and confidence! Special needs assessments were handled quickly and professionally. The administration and teachers have been great.

I liked this School up until now after a terrible experience. I was a Substitute Teacher there and there was a Para in the class to help me assist. Around 12pm, the Para went "MIA", didn't say where she was going and was gone for an hour while I was left alone to watch the pre-K Class. There was a Teacher standing in the hallway because she could hear how rowdy the class started acting and I asked if she could watch the class for a moment as I go to the Main Office to find out what happened to the Para. When I got to the office I asked if anyone know where the Para had gone and the bookkeeper said she didn't know and there was no sense of urgency and no one looked for her to see where she was. After I was back in the Class, I had to use the restroom after a while and a Teacher next Door came in the Class with me to watch the Students as I stepped out. I come out of the Bathroom and a SPED Teacher stopped me and asked if I could help with her class.. I guess her help had left or something and next thing I know the Office stated no one knew where I went and they couldn't find me when the Para who was in the Classroom with Me left me with Pre-K Students alone and no one bothered to find out where she was. I've been a sub for that school multiple times and for them to think I left a "bad taste in their mouth" because they said they didn't know where I went, is very disappointing and it's like they didn't care that I was in the class alone, no help and tried getting the Students under control by myself.

Barton Chapel Elementary is an excellent school with an awesome staff. We love our students and have high expectations set in place to grow productive citizens. This is my elementary school and I am in the 9th grade. This school is so respectful and is doing so many wonderful things. Yes, it has it's ups and downs, but every school has them. But BCE is the best! And will always be....

This is a National Blue Ribbon school that has reached AYP over 7 consecutive years. They are doing something right. All of my children attended there. It is also a safe environment.
