My child has been given ample opportunities to explore her passion in creative writing, as well as opportunities to grow in musical theatre, Model UN, Mock Trial, Literary, academic clubs, and more. Shes interested in story-telling- those of her own creation, as well as those of nation, or litigant. Shes drawn to the humanities.

At MDS, she also has an array of AP classes to choose among, and a lot of choices to make toward preparing for her future. She feels safe at school and has teachers to approach if she ever has a problem or a question. We made the right decision, and hope that her next choice of school (for her undergraduate degree) offers as much opportunity as we have found here.

I can't even begin to describe how destructive the environment is at this school. The students are rude and fake to each other and represent MDS's values so poorly. Students are often humiliated and bullied by prideful, insolent "popular" kids. What's more, teachers, who are (at best) of moderate quality, fail to notice such behavior and don't discipline the kids that deserve it. Students here have no shame and won't hesitate to put others down for a few laughs from the crowd. It's pitiful and childish, and I'm genuinely curious how they can do it without caring how embarrassing it is for victims and how negatively it can affect their mental health and well-being. What some kids have to go through here is truly horrible and unacceptable, yet nothing is actually done to change anything. It's so sad that this could've been an amazing school, but self-absorbed, privileged, unappreciative students who don't understand the value of education have to come in and ruin it for everybody.

At MDS, a lot of things disappoint. First off, the students are horrid. There's constant drama, rumors, incredibly foul language and cliques. Basically, you either conform and get in with the popular kids or become a outcast. This is especially prevalent because of how small each grade is. There aren't a lot of options for friend groups that don't stir up gossip just because they want to. There's lots of disrespect, between classmates and towards teachers. Under the breath comments and snickers are what I hear during many class periods. 'Jokes' are made, including talk of shooting up the school, telling people to kill themselves, etc. It's hard to listen to. Many students feel entitled here, and try to bully others. A lot of spoiled, coddled brats. I often feel lonely in this harsh environment.
Moving on to teachers: it's really just hit or miss. A few of my teachers are kind, understanding, and more than competent, while others are lazy and short tempered. Sometimes, we'll just be given book work to do the whole period and the teacher doesn't leave their desk. Instructors are often snippy and condescending. I try to avoid asking questions in some classes because my teacher will embarrass me because I didn't understand the directions or don't comprehend the material. They basically just explain the topic once then don't do it again.
I don't think this school focuses on the right issues. They're concerned about silly things like whether you're wearing the correct highly specific skirt or if you've tucked your shirt in, but ignore bullying and fights. It's almost everyday that more drama happens, and it's horrible if you get wrapped up in it.

Looking at Mount de Sales now is defining the phrase going down hill. They have become so political that its hard to even speak up for yourself. I am a graduating senior and over the last 3 years I have watched the school slowly deteriorate. Would not recommend this school to any parents looking to put there kid through private school. The school administrators is so self absorbed that they take no other opinions or suggestions but their own. Its quite embarrassing to attend a school that doesnt show anything that they stand for.

We like the school; it has everything we were looking for. My son will graduate next year, and he has built character, he has grown on his faith. Very satisfied with the results. Thank you MDS

Oh boy, this school didn't help me at all when I was bullied. I reported to two teachers about bullying, but I got no help at all. I felt completely ignored at this school.

The principal and president of Mount de Sales's middle and high school were incompetent. They were always all talk no show. Pretty words are nothing if nothing is done. The principal of the middle school was rearranged an overstuffed class one week before the second semester. Said principal practically shoved several students from one class to another without telling them beforehand.

Nope, the students at Mount de Sales are absolutely awful. There's no sign of integrity in this school at all. Students plagiarize, lie, and cheat all the time on homework assignments as well as when they're talking to their peers.

Compassion? Don't even make me laugh. Most of the students at Mount de Sales don't care at all about their grades or school. That was one of the things I hated most about the Mount de Sales. The lack of effort was appalling.

The students at this school give neither their classmates nor their teachers any sort of respect. Students are always gossiping and insulting their classmates. They'll even make fun of their teachers right in front of their face.

For the most part, the teaching in the school is effective. There are a few incompetent teachers here and there, and many of the teachers are incredibly biased.

Sometimes, too much homework is assigned which causes a student to stress, but that's only sometimes. Usually, the homework load is decent.

If you look at Mount de Sales's achievements, you might think that the school is fantastic, but it isn't. As a student (soon to be former student) of Mount de Sales, I found that most of the teachers are competent, but there was a lot of bias throughout the school. Catholic Caucasians who were related to alumni of the school (I'm talking about parents/aunts/uncles) were regarded much higher than other students. In fact, there were activities in the school that were exclusive to students who were related to alumni or students who were Catholic. A few months prior, I saw a teacher single out African American students from a group and berate them. Though I myself am not African American, I felt extremely angered when I saw this.

The bias that some of the teachers have are not even the worst part of this school. Many students at Mount de Sales are horrid. There's very distinct differences and tension between groups of students in each grade. Almost always, Caucasians stay with Caucasians, and African Americans stay with African Americans. There's only animosity between these two main groups.

The students always seem to care more about their appearances and possessions rather than their academics. The students threaten to shoot up the school when their phones are taken away, yet they laugh and joke around whenever they fail a school assignment. How awful.

Once, I told one of my peers to stop doing something that was morally wrong. The student cussed me out, so I reported them to a teacher. After that, the student lied about cussing, and the biased teacher believed them because he was a Caucasian catholic. Then, the student gathered all of his friends, and they yelled insults at me and spread rumors about me for weeks. I tried to report it so a teacher, but the students who I accused always denied it, so they were let off the hook. Later, I tried to report them again, but other students threatened me and said that they couldn't afford for those students to get suspended since they were major players in a sports team. That was the moment I truly hated Mount de Sales. The teachers I tried to talk to ignored me, and my peers were awful.

If you want to send your child to a school with good education but bad moral values and corruption, then I recommend that you come to Mount de Sales.

MDS is an amazing school. I'm a current student there, and the teachers, administrators, and fellow students are great. Sure, there's cliques. But everyone fits in. Everyone accepts everyone. It's very diverse in its students. It's not like Stratford, or FPD, or Tattnal. It's a different, safe, educational environment. The teachers and administrators actually care about you. They know you by name, and they understand you. As a catholic school, we are required to take Religion and Theology. But it's totally worth it. We have astonishing academics. And amazing athletics. Teachers trust you. There's so much independence. I recommend this school for any parent choosing a private school in the Macon area.

It is a school that not only provides a great education but also allows your kids to compete in as many athletic and extra curricular activities as your child may want. If you live in Macon there really is no other choice. Stratford is to expensive and has no diversity. FPD is the same and Tatnall cares nothing about education. The only problem I had was the forced religion classes but I guess you have to sacrifice some things to receive a quality education. I definitely had a great time at MDS.

Mount de Sales has good academics, but there's a lack of comfort for students. I am a current sophomore at MDS, and no one gets along. Everyone is rude and cruel towards each other and the teachers either do nothing to stop it or go way over the top. I know that a boy got expelled for doing something a couple years ago, and then a girl did the same thing and the principal knew but covered for her and she was able to remain at MDS until people bullied and harassed her until she moved schools because she couldn't take it anymore. The president, Mr.Held, is very high strung and wants everything to go his way. He is nice but he never tries to compromise or meet the wants and needs of students, whatever he wants he does without thinking about the good of others. I wish I would've gotten out of MDS before high school, because it only gets worse. The cliques are insanely catty towards one another also. I recommend Tattnall Square Academy to any parent wanting their children to enjoy high school while also getting a good education.

Mount de Sales Academy is hands down the best private school in Macon! They have a strong focus on academics, as well as on athletics. I am a student in the 7th grade, and all of the teachers are great, especially Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Webb! Every person I've met at MDS is welcoming and friendly!
