As an alum, I highly recommend the Atlanta Girls' School (AGS) experience to all girls living in the Atlanta area! AGS is truly a wonderful place for girls to learn, grow and lead. I felt well prepared (both academically and socially) for my undergrad and graduate experiences due to the skills I learned at AGS. AGS allows girls to be true to who they are and follow their passions. I am thankful that I was able to begin following my career path in public health at a young age by attending AGS. AGS is sensitive to the needs of the specific student and it was a welcoming environment for someone with learning differences. Years later, I still have friends I made at AGS and we all acknowledge the positive impact the school has had on our lives. If you want your daughter to attend a diverse, unique and encouraging school - AGS is it!

If you’re looking for a place where your girl can be herself while maturing to realize her potential, then AGS is for you. A dedicated faculty, staff (and impressive new Head Of School) make sure the AGS is a great experience for each student. The school is small, but for what matter most, The Atlanta Girls’ School delivers. After doing our research, and attending a shadow day, we became fans of the program. It has been a great choice for our daughter.

I am the mother of two AGS graduates. One has completed her MBA and the other her Master's. Both are independent, employed, engaged in fulfilling careers, and have terrific personal relationships (lots of friends; one is happily married and the other dating a great fellow). As young adults, they love to learn. AGS, now 21-years-old, is often viewed as a well-kept secret. It wouldn't be if parents knew that this is THE BEST School for Atlanta's girls: the ideal size (under 350); caring, supportive learning environment; amazing teachers who put their students first; respect for each individual; values that include belonging, open-mindedness, fairness; amazing college acceptance record (always encouraging the "best fit" for each senior); a devoted board of trustees who are among the school's best ambassadors. AGS is a fabulous place to educate your daughters, develop their confidence, and prepare them to be unapologetically bold leaders in the classroom and beyond. The school has strong and devoted faculty and an amazing college counselor. Our oldest daughter graduated two years ago and is now thriving academically at Princeton. Her classmates are doing great things at Duke, the Naval Academy, Spelman, Brown, University of Chicago, Georgia Tech, UGA Honors, and many other top colleges and universities. AGS offers a girl-centric curriculum that empowers its students to become academically successful young women. It has been a great community for our daughters and our whole family.

My daughter joined AGS in 6th grade from a larger Atlanta private school. She entered as a shy, quiet, soft spoken and timid girl and emerged as a confident, well-spoken, fearless young lady with robust academic skills and a strong sense of self. I attribute this to her experience at AGS. AGS nurtures the individual, celebrates her strengths, and provides the room for the girls to speak up and be heard. It is an extremely empowering place with wonderful teachers, an excellent college-prep curriculum, and a welcoming, inclusive environment. AGS changed my daughter's life. She went on to get into the rigorous college of her first choice and has been on the Dean's list for four years. She is graduating in May and starting a career in the male-dominated field of commercial real estate (got her offer in December of her senior year). I know she will be successful due to the belief in herself that she gained from her experience at AGS. She has remained friends with many of the teachers at AGS and her friend group. While she loves her college sorority sisters, at 22, her best friend is the one she made in 6th grade at AGS. Can't say enough about this great school and highly recommend you consider it for your girl!

There is so much to say about this AMAZING school that provides a one-of-a-kind education like no other. The teachers are truly invested and care so much about every single girls' education and personal development. I have two daughters here (6th and 8th grades, one of which with ASD) who are very different but who are both thriving academically and socially. At AGS, small class sizes and the small student body mean that every single teacher knows the needs, strengths, goals, and personality of every single student. Students know that the teachers are there to support them at all turns. The girls all get along, include one another, and support one another. I never hear of any bullying. Most impressive is how the girls all develop such strong confidence, critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills. Truly a special place!

We are big fans of AGS. Like every school, it has its issues and challenges, but the girls have allies in their peers and faculty members as supports along the way. Middle school is all about making sure girls feel safe and supported while figuring out how to advocate for yourself, and upper school has been more about college prep, APs and independence. I'd recommend this school to someone who wants a small community of girls, and that it is a good place to pursue academic and social excellence. There are lots of activities around girl power and building community.

The Atlanta girls school has many outstanding, passionate, and inspiring teachers that not only develop their students minds and critical thinking skills, but serve as just the kind of role models we want for our girls. Kudos to these teachers. At its core, however, the school' structure, culture and administrative staff ironically powerfully undermine students at the school. The head of school, asst head of school, and learning specialist have. creased a culture in which girls' are not respected, trusted, or supported, and appear to be threatended by what it means for their students to be truly empowered. There is a great deal of deceit, manipulation, and a lack of fundamental honesty about school actions, and this sets a profoundly unhealthy tone the tone for a school

EDLS program (Education for the Development of Leadership and Service) is an amazing program that includes a wide variety of topics that build on each other through the years. This program really does build leaders that aren't afraid to advocate for themselves but also develops compassion and empathy.

I have two daughters that both have attended AGS. One attended from 7th through 12th grade and is now at a top private university. The second is a junior. Having been part of the AGS community for 7 years, I can say this is a unique and special place where a partnership of families and teachers create a "village" for your daughter. Girls find their own voices and their own strength and AGS allows them to shine in a supportive environment. My daughter was incredibly well prepared for college academically and as a person. Programs like required internships and global travel prepare them to be global citizens. Numerous clubs and other activities including the arts and sports allow them to develop leadership skills. The teaching environment is truly about learning and not teaching to a test. Both of my daughters have several teachers who are their advocates, life-coaches, and mentors. The college counseling process is excellent and AGS has an outstanding reputation with colleges, which is why as many as 100 colleges visit AGS each year despite is relatively small class size (25 to 35). I can't say enough about the special experience my girls have had at AGS.

I have been a student since, the 6th grade. I have continued to see the school improve each year. It is a small school with an amazing community. The teachers and students incourage each other to grow. I have seen in myself and others a positive change. The enviroment and community incourages gaining self confidence. Also, peers push each other to work harder and become stronger learners. We focuse on finding our personal learning styles and creating bonds between students and staff. I incourage everyone to tour and learn more about the school.

My experience at AGS looked pretty good from the beginning, but as soon as I entered the academic year I realized that their whole idea of a "clique-free" school was definitely not fitting. There is definitely a level of favoritism between the teachers and the students, and not to mention the gossip level between the teachers. The administration is constantly worried about the student body gossiping, yet it seems that they do the exact same thing!

Additionally, the faculty here is extremely biased. They enforce "tattle-tale" teaching, which might sound insulting of the way I'm putting it, but all in all it's the truth. They exaggerate situations that are outside of school. Sometimes it feels like they care more about the student body and the social situation and not the academics at all. To elaborate, the only good departments at the school were the language and English departments. Their focus on STEM is not fitting, and I say this because I attended a public middle school in 6th and 7th grade, and I had learned the information that I knew from 6th and 7th grade in 9th grade!

Additionally, with history being my favorite subject, I was so excited to have a different perspective entering a private school that requires a global travel trip with the school in order to graduate, but they were strongly lacking. It felt that the teachers-not just in the history department-were using the Haiku website as a way to cheat out of teaching. Instead of teaching us themselves, we would have to watch videos online.

If you are considering sending your intelligent and gifted child to this school, just remember that me-and many other girls I have talked to-have noticed the sub par teaching. I found that the teaching I got at public school was much more well-run then the teaching I got here.

My daughter attended AGS from 6th to 12th grade. The lovely young lady she is today is due to her AGS education and conscious parenting. Middle school at AGS gives the girls the basis for an incredible high school experience at AGS. AGS taught her organize her time and her work. As parents, we are very thankful for the investment the teachers made in our daughter. The faculty at AGS has relationships with the students. They love them, push them, lift them up with they fall and push them again.
She has had no trouble adjusting to college life. The concepts and topics brought up at freshman seminars were all familiar to her from daily living at AGS and AGS’s Education & Development for Leadership & Service program. She has traveled to three continents and worked at two internships through AGS. They broaden her horizons and expanded her mind in and out of the classroom. This education will benefit her for the rest of her life.

This is a great place for me as a student to be at. They challenge me to be my best and work hard and they make me think for myself. They terminate bullying as soon as it starts and it is a safe environment that I feel comfortable in.

From someone who transferred out after freshman year: I came to AGS in 6th grade. My middle school experience was absolutely amazing; I expected to stay until I graduated. Middle school is an awkward time for everyone, but forming close bonds with the other girls in my grade and my teachers made my experience perfect (shoutout to Ms. Coleman, aka the BEST TEACHER EVER. Seriously.) . However, transitioning into high school, I discovered that high school at AGS really isn't that different from middle school at AGS. For me, that became a problem. High school is SUPPOSED to be a different experience from middle school. You're a different person, older, discovering new interests, and applying for colleges. By the time freshman year was over I felt confined by my small class size (30 girls in my grade!) and the lack of options for the arts. I was discovering that I had a huge passion for theatre and art, but I was unable to pursue it because of the weak arts program at AGS. Ms. U is great, but she's just one person! A strong arts program consists of many different people, all passionate about what they do! So, I transferred to a different Atlanta school for sophomore year, and it's the best decision I've ever made! I'm in AP art classes and active in my drama class and music program. Also, the social events are great! Having boys isn't a distraction at all; they actually add to a classroom and to your social life. At AGS, you don't know what you're missing. This isn't to say my decision is right for everyone; if you are academically focused on math and science, AGS is perfect for you. It just wasn't right for me!

Both of my daughters attend AGS and we could not be happier with their experience there. AGS is a challenging, supportive environment and my girls absolutely love it. The girls at AGS are confident and secure in who they are because the faculty truly listens and respects the girls, and the girls feel that! It's been even better than we imagined and she has absolutely transformed at AGS. We moved our high school girl to AGS after she began complaining that being interested in math and science was "social suicide". She loves the collaborative learning environment at AGS; she has been encouraged to take Physics and Computer Science with seniors. When I asked her the difference between AGS and the neighboring private school where she was before, her answer was short and sweet: "They believe in me." Don't take my word for it. Read the research about single sex education and visit the school yourself.

We have been so in love with the AGS experience. As a woman it is so "rah, rah, girl power"; I wish i had gone to a single gender school when i was a young girl. We came to the school because my husband went to a single gender school and remembered the experience with fond memories and a great education. AGS has been no exception. We are looking forward to the Global Ed program and the intern program that are required of upper schoolers which will be part of the curriculum this school year. The classroom size is very personable and the teachers are able to pour into these girls in such a way that I have seen many of the girls come out of their shyness within just one school year including my own. Best schooling decision for all of my three children.

There is not much bullying here, and generally most people at this school are friendly. However, IF YOU LIKE MATH, DO NOT GO HERE. My daughter is now going to a public school and we have to pay for her tutoring to get her ready for an AP math class. She was in an advanced math class and received an A+, but the class did not cover nearly as much as her new school's class did. If you are into the liberal arts, this school may be a good fit but stay away if you are a math-lover!

We are so fortunate to be able to send our daughter to a private school and incredibly grateful that she goes to AGS. She is a senior and will graduate with a wealth of life lessons about how and what you can be in the world as well a real appreciation for who she is right now. I can't imagine that there is a school in Atlanta that does a better job of meeting a girl where she is and working with her as a team to harness all her potential.

AGS has been an incredible experience for our daughter. She loves school and has such a love of learning. We have seen such growth in her from one year to the next. She is truly thriving! The technology at the school is best in Atlanta, bar none. One of 50 schools in the country recognized by Apple. Teachers really care about the girls and teach in a way that girls learn. They are constantly reading and continuing their education on this subject. My daughter and we, as her parents could not be happier with the school and the outcomes that we are seeing from AGS, If you have a daughter, AGS is definitely worth looking at!!

Best school ever! So much support and amazing people and teachers. While at the Atlanta Girls School I blossomed it to a confident Girl with no limits for where I could and will go. AGS is one of those schools where every girl is kind and respectful. AGS teachers are kind and supportive by encouraging very girl to be her best advocate. AGS is one of a kind in Atlanta, and it provided my girl with opportunities that she had not experienced at her previous independent school. The no-cut policy in middle school sports allowed her to try volleyball and swimming for the first time, which opened possibilities that led to club involvement and elected roles. She is now a successful sophomore at a leading university in the northeast and is thriving. Her success would not be possible without her caring teachers, coaches, and advisor at AGS. They knew her well and helped her reach further than she thought possible.

Save your money. The focus is not on academics but on some strange idea of how girls should learn. If your daughter is really smart, this is not a school that will encourage or promote individuality. I was sold on same gender education but very disappointed in how my child was treated. Extraordinarily high turnover with staff. 3 good teachers, the rest were marginal. This school caters to the lowest common denominator.

AGS is a one-of-a-kind school. GIrls feel completely free to be themselves, while faculty focus on helping them access their best selves. Students benefit from guidance in numerous intellectual pursuits (a larger percentage of graduates of this school attend top-ranked schools by Forbes than most Atlanta independent schools), but they also learn to lead and follow. Girls benefit from internship programs, global travel, no-cut athletics in middle school and much more. Because no boys are around, faculty can actively help girls practice strong intellectual inquiry and social problem-solving. Girl drama exists everywhere (because girl meanness in middle school is explained by both brain and hormonal science), but at AGS girls are called out when they exert social power inappropriately. Many girls at this school elect to go further in math and science than girls at co-ed schools. After their AGS and college careers, girls go on to become White House staff, attend medical school, pursue college counseling careers, become entrepreneurs, and more.

I would have to disagree whole-heartedly with the parent who stated that an AGS education is sub-par. I attended AGS for five years and had a wonderful experience. I found that it prepared me extremely well for the ivy-league university which I attended. The teachers are ALWAYS willing to stay after school to help students understand material. Teachers form relationships with the students, and often write them recommendations for jobs years after graduation. Because AGS is a growing school, it provides endless opportunities for leadership and community-building by the students themselves. These experiences, though not traditional "classroom-learning" are invaluable and will be useful for the rest of the students' lives. Parents: DO send your daughters to AGS!

My daughter is currently a 7 th grade student at AGS. Her first year was a year of unparalleled growth and personal discovery. I watched my daughter blossom into a full fledged athlete, scholar, actress, and Social butterfly. I saw her take risks and make many new friends. She didn't have any friends on day 1 but she quickly made them on all grade levels. Her teachers were extremely supportive and were available for after school tutoring. She was not afraid to run for office or try different sports. I truly believe in the mission of the school. The student teacher ratio last year was 9 to 1! I recommend this school without reservation.

I am going into freshman year, and I hope to stay for all of high school. I love this school! I have so many friends, and I really feel accepted. The teachers all genuinely care about us, and I know I have a few teachers that I wouldn't hesitate to go to if I had a problem. However, the school is not for everyone. It's a very small community with no boys. Girls who want to live huge social lives and go to football games and date wouldn't like this school. I am very happy here. Of course, you can't stop girls from gossiping, and there has been drama, but it has always been resolved before it got nasty. We still see boys; we have dances with a military academy, and socials, and we go to neighboring schools football gems.most girls have found that doing a n activity outside of school gives hem more time with boys, and most of my friend have discovered that high school boys aren't really all that great. If you want a real experience, try a shadow day. I really recommend it. To the reviewer who said their kid wasn't welcomed, I'm very sorry. I have never heard of anything like that happening. Honestly, I always se my friends being warm and open to all new students

My daughter attended this attened this school for one year. I would not recommend that any responsible parent send their daughter to this school. The education is not up to the standards that they claim that it is. Don't send your daugthers to this school.

I have loved every minute of my AGS experience, I am very blessed to go to a school with such great people and teachers, the girls in my grade are like my sisters. AGS is the best place for your daughter and I can't imagine my life without AGS.

In a sentence, There is no better school for your daughter in Atlanta. I am continually amazed and impressed by the growth I see in my daughter and her class mates. Their ability to advocate, defend, take risks, think for themselves and think outside the box is refreshing. The compassion and inclusiveness that they have amongst each other and for students outside AGS makes me proud. I have gotten so much more than I pay for and am completely happy with my choice. Of all the schools we visited, this one is hands down the most diverse independent school in the Atlanta area. The only thing lacking at AGS is the pretentiousness, snootiness and haughtiness that is ever so present at many other private institutions.

My daughter has been at AGS for 6 years and this is her senior year. I'm a single parent father so I wanted to put my daughter around positive female role models. It has been perfect, there are a few bad teachers anywhere you go but at AGS they are few. I was given an incredible financial aid deal and the most forgiving atmosphere I could imagine. My daughter has maintained an A average and made 2100 on the SAT, the colleges are calling. Do yourself a favor and look long and hard at AGS, for your little girl if you have done any kind of job as a parent at all she will excel.

My daughter is entering her 5th year at AGS. We are thrilled with the education she is receiving. The teachers are dedicated to each girl thoroughly understanding the material. They are available each afternoon for tutorial. Girls who participate and work hard are rewarded with a wide choice of the finest colleges and universities in the country. AGS is on the cutting edge of technology. These girls know how to use their computers to their best advantage but are constantly warned about the dangers and pitfalls of technology too. The recent changes in administration are positive and in the long term best interest of the school. There is a great team in place to continue the schools growth and keep AGS relevant in a fast changing world. Don't hesitate to send your daughter to AGS. It is the best life decision we have ever made for our daughters future.
