We have finished 2 years here and are soon to begin our third year. I have always been treated with courtesy when speaking with teachers and office personnel. The teachers my son had for kindergarten and first grade were wonderful and genuinely seemed to understand and care about my son and his development. There are multiple activities and field trips for kids throughout the year. While we are not military, I have been quite impressed by the support I have seen for all of the active duty military at the school. I would urge you to read the one star reviews carefully. Several appear to be the same person....."principal" is misspelled as "principle" in several right in a row. While no school is perfect, I think Lake Joy Primary is doing a great job.

Having had some level of experience in many of the Houston County schools, I must say Lake Joy is among the cream of the crop. The teachers and staff quickly become like family. Parent involvement is outstanding. The quality of education far surpasses other schools in the area. The overall atmosphere of the school is always a positive one which keeps my children eager and excited for school each day.

The atmosphere upon entering LJPS is ALWAYS a positive one. The teachers are not there simply to collect a paycheck, but love their students like their own and go above and beyond to provide the very best education and school experience possible.

Great school. Great teachers. Even when I've had disagreement with the teacher, communication was great and we were able to move forward. My Kindergartener loves going to school and he comes home full of new information. I understand it all depends on the teachers but everyone has been friendly and professional. They do seem to be strict on discipline but I GREATLY appreciate that. Keeps classrooms safe and learning can be optimized.

We asked for a transfer to a different school. I had to call the head of the board of education to get it, but we got it. If you have a child who has just been diagnosed with Autism and has behavioral issues, do yourself a favor and buy a house in a different school district. This school will send your kid home pretty much every single day for the most ridiculous things. Then they'll tell you they're trying everything they can as they deny services you've asked for over and over again. I had to demand a Functional Behavioral Assessment. They never actually implemented the assessment goals though. Instead they sent him home everyday because they didn't feel like doing their job. They even pushed to have my son medicated and only stopped complaining when he began sleeping the whole day because of the meds. But once he got used to them, I'd get a call pretty much every day at noon to pick him up. So I promptly took him off them since I didn't want him medicated in the first place. I got fed up with their nonsense and asked he be transferred to a school who had a staff trained to work with autistic children. I've met 5 other parents-and have been told by other sources who know several other parents-that have transferred their special ed kid from Lake Joy because of the same issues. Other parents I'm friends with encouraged me to have my son moved to a different school once I began telling them about everything Lake Joy does. Their children also have autism with behavioral issues but the schools their kids were in had staff trained in dealing with Autistic children. They told me they didn't get called constantly because the staff knew how to handle the behaviors. I was also advised by my sons therapists to switch schools once I told them what Lake Joy was doing. Even a special education teacher from a different county advised a transfer because it was clear to her Lake Joy wasn't even trying. To top it all off, in our final IEP meeting, they lied through their teeth about things they did. At that point, I didn't even care to correct them. I wanted my son out of that school.

My child enrolled as a Kindergartener. Almost the whole staff knows him by name. His kindergarten teacher and para-pro are awesome. He has had some discipline issues, but nothing I wouldn't correct myself. As for some of the other reviews, a principal should always side with their teachers. Unless there is compelling evidence otherwise. Great School!

We're incredibly pleased with LJPS. I'm not exactly sure what some of these parents have issues with but they've been incredible to us the two school years we've been with them. Our youngest is having separation anxiety issues and his teachers and the entire staff have been more than supportive in helping him in the mornings! I'm not sure what parents expect out of these teachers but we've haven't met a bad one yet.

This school has the potential to be great, but the principle needs to go. Unless you are one of the favorites the front office staff will not acknowledge you when you come into the office. The principal will stand by her teachers regardless if they are wrong.. Point blank. This lady is known to put pre k students in ISS.( in school suspension) sad.

The principal always has an excuse when it comes to the teachers. My son is in first grade and its horrible. He's been sent to the office for not raising his hand, talking during lunch while the music was playing. I talked to his teacher who was very disrespectful to me when questioned and the principle said she probably had a bad day and that she's old school... So that made it acceptable I guess...

If you give this school a lot of donation, your child will be sweet automatically. BUT, if you don't give any donation, your child will be dumb, and foolish.

Notice how the 5 stars were before 2010. That was the last year for Mrs Loggins. This new principle is terrible, terrible, terrible!!!!!! please change her! my son went to the office for not sitting down apparently in the first month, and hes only in kindergarten!! are you serious??

If you think about enrolling your child to this school, beware of how the teachers are liars and the principle takes side with the teachers. So much for a "5 star school."

It looks as if the only way your review can remain posted on this site is if you give this Lake Joy Primary 3 stars or better. So much for honesty. I'm sure this review will be deleted as well. No matter the truth always come out in the end. If any parent value their child's education, being treated fairly by the principal and it's teachers and not have your child be systematically bullied, I would suggest you think twice about enrolling your child in this school.

We moved to the area for my work at Robins Air Force Base. We have been very pleased with the teachers, the facilities, and the kids. The lunches aren't necessarily the most nutritious, but part of that goes with living in the south where everything is fried. The children are well-behaved and polite. I have been aware of one instance of bullying, and the principal immediately took action and the problem was solved. Like any school, a lot of your experience depends on which teachers your children end up with. We have experienced 3 different teachers now and all of them have been good. The only star I take off is for parental involvement. Yes, there are many parents that are willing to help contribute, but there is sometimes a bit of dead weight where people don't pull their weight. But overall still 4 starts for parent particiaption.
