We had high hopes for Ellis and the Montessori curriculum. Our child attended both pre k and kindergarten there. Our hopes were soon dashed by incompetent teachers, unsupportive staff and an atmosphere that targets 4-5 year olds that are deemed “troublemakers”.

This school likes to tout themselves as the only Montessori school in the area. However, most teachers are poorly trained in Montessori style education. In addition, instead of helping guide children and their decision making, Ellis often resorts to building a case against children they deem as trouble and pushing them out of the program.

I question the goal and validity of the education received there as a whole. Creating a paper trail for prek and kindergarten aged kids and attempting to diagnose them before they’ve even reached 1st grade is absolutely abhorrent. The administrators, staff and policies should be investigated and audited.

This school was once seen as a pillar of the community but has now become a detriment to the development of its pupils.

This is my son's first year at Ellis Montessori Academy. I am pleased with the welcoming school atmosphere and the Montessori method of learning. His teachers are enthusiastic and there is an active PTA group.
