Today I went to the school to pick up my son. The two ladies in the front office were very impatient and rude. I was trying to explain the problem, but they did not listen carefully. I believe the teaching quality at this school is very low, and unfortunately I have not seen any improvement in my son.

Actively getting better, test scores are rising. Multiple if not all students passed the biology EOC for the year 2023

To the community member who stated " Ive lived in Windsor Forest my whole life and i feel like a parent should not be so disrespectful and immature when talking about the school who is providing their child an education for free. " please let me inform you that Public School IS NOT FREE! I pay for it, as does every other property owner in Chatham County. And trust that it would almost cover private school tuition. I'm sorry you did not know that! I should probably state that NOTHING in life is free. Someone pays for it! However, that belief and expectation is exactly the mentality that condones and encourages the billigerent and disrespectful attitudes given by the majority of students in ALL Chatham County Schools. When I went to Windsor, and my brother a decade later ( with members of Outkast ) it was a top rated school. Offering the equivalent education to that of available private education and the administration demanded and received respect. Misguided students were corrected and punished as required, regardless if it effected ones self esteem or grades. The Administration and the Teachers took EDUCATION seriously and most of my class and that of my brothers went on to gain degrees and respected members of the community. The problem with ALL Chatham County Schools is the lack of demand by 80% or more of the parents to fight for the return of academics over feelings and punishment over disrespect and chaos, to fight for their children ( in a mature, adult manner at Board meetings and the PTA). These "children" will be adult members of society in the near future and although your "angel" may be perfect, a significant portion are not! Their futures are as your future neighbors, community leaders, those that design the future your child and grandchildren live in. They are the same ones who will never know that the United States of America is a Representative Republic ( as stated in the lost Pledge ) and will believe it is a Democracy! And given the taxes we all pay for these students don't you all think we have the right to demand more for the children, our children, grandchildren in our communities? A diploma of any kind means nothing if the knowledge required to attain was held by any 6th grader.
Further, Has anyone else noticed the decline in proficiency county wide since the implementation of Common Core? Correlation? I think so.

Windsor suffers from the same problem most schools in Chatham have--retention isn't very good. Teachers are hired because they aren't able to get jobs elsewhere and Chatham is a last resort or nowhere else will hire them. Also, when teachers aren't supported by administration and able to manage a classroom due to class size and students who are determined to be disruptive, then they aren't able to be effective.

Out of the four administrators who are currently there, there is only one who seems to be effective and organized. Two of them are completely unprofessional in the way they handle themselves, students, and teachers. The principal has a good image; however, the students run the school and they know it. There is very little follow through on discipline from administration and they do not support their teachers in circumstances when it is really needed.

Depending on whether or not the class is honors or has an effective co-teacher, then learning differences are handled well. Some students receive amazing help or are challenged appropriately.

Students are regularly bullied for clothes, hair, money, intelligence, and anything in between. Teachers attempt to help, but once again, without the support of administration and parents, nothing is resolved. It's painful to watch and know that nothing is being done about it.

There are some great students and a handful of teachers at this school. They are under-appreciated and overworked in both cases. This school has a lot of potential and could flourish under the right leadership. Honestly, the district or state needs to come in, clean house, and start over with administration and faculty/staff. As of now, the school is failing its students and its teachers.

Homework is either discouraged because there aren't enough resources, like books, for students to take home or it's a waste of time because students usually plagiarize or cheat their way through it.

Windsor Forest High School is not as bad as people make it out to be. Some people just make the school look bad. Overall Windsor Forest is not a bad school.

Some are downright unprofessional. Others focus on the wrong things. No one seems to be there for each other. The entire county recognizes there is a retention problem but does nothing to address it. The principal encourages feedback from students and then just does what he wants to. It's a joke.

They try to instill these qualities as a general rule, but most of the kids just don't care. And it doesn't help that the teachers and administration don't show these qualities.

More and more of the really good teachers are finding jobs at other schools. Even with the economy still rebounding after the recession, Chatham can't fill positions. They just hired over 400 non-certified teachers and still have long-term substitutes at every school for positions where they couldn't get anyone or the person spent just a few weeks in the system and quit.

This school is a hot mess. The county is a hot mess in general, but Windsor seems to be sliding downhill more each year. The administration doesn't seem to be aware of what is going on with what happens in the school and are only concerned with how things look. They don't support their teachers and even talk bad about them to students. Students can cuss a teacher out and just get a talking to. The quality of teachers has gotten worse each year as more and more of the good ones get jobs at other counties. Windsor loses a ton of teachers each year, like 20 or more, and a lot of times they have substitutes in classes because they can't get anyone to come work for them. If someone stays longer than 2, it's a miracle or they're so bad they can't get a job anywhere else. The students are getting worse too. You should see how they talk to teachers and to each other. They're always on their cellphones. They act wild because they know they won't get punished for it. They get punished more for not wearing the right uniform shirt than they do for refusing to put up their phone. All about appearances remember. The kids that want to learn often have no opportunity to as classtime is mostly spent trying to get kids to behave. Don't listen to people who say Windsor is the best school in Chatham. That was true 10 years ago. It's not true anymore.

Homework is discouraged at this school and teachers are often required to allow an unlimited amount of time for students to turn in their work.

I believe that they try to. However, if the home environment has not developed honesty and integrity from an early age, it's an uphill battle for teachers and administrators to try to do so.

Great teachers, doing the best they can in a difficult teaching environment with not as much parental support as there should be.
Too many parents wanting to blame teachers when students are not behaved. When in reality, if parents had "parented" their child responsibly then there wouldn't be students needing to be "controlled."

The school may have its downfalls but as do all schools in the U.S. Maybe instead of believing what your child "says" go experience yourself. And if you have maybe you and your child just had a bad experience and that happens with every school. Not everyone can be happy.

The school is horrible! The maintenance of the entire school is very poor, most of the students have very little respect for others, including teachers, some of the teachers could care less about their students education, and how they run everything is just ridiculous! Out of all the schools I've been to, this is the worst. They said this was one of the best in the county?! I for one could say that it isn't one of the best. I do not recommend sending students to get their education here.
