We love Norton Park! The lower score on this website is not reflective at all of our experience. Test scores only show one snippet of the picture, and the reality is that this is largely an ESOL-supported school. Standardized scores are typically lower among ESOL learners due to language barriers, not necessarily lack of knowledge. Teachers at Title 1 schools are some of the best, and NPE teachers are no exception. Our child requires accommodations, and we felt very supported by her teacher and the 504 coordinator. The principal loves this school and is super involved, and there are lots of events and fun experiences for the kids and families throughout the year. We couldn't be happier.

Everyone in the office are rude, they don't listen and or care. This place is horrible. Just glad my child no longer goes here

My daughter just finished kindergarten. Our family's first language is Portuguese and she had full support from the school to develop her English. In a few months she no longer had any difficulty. The staff is very kind and always helpful when I needed any help.

Depends on the teacher definitely its not consistent from one instructor to the next and ive Found drastic teaching styles and damage control delays and or methods on top of that please note that students from k-1 thru 5th are working independently 75% of the time to my surprise as stated by a 2nd grade instructor and in a second language at that pretty appalling

I can only speak for my conversations with my young children whom attend but overall they express confusion tons of bullying experiences and that they want to go to a and I quote, better school

Very hands off parent approach unless your volunteering for a specific task such as making copies etc you cant even bring a cupcake to your kid at birthdays unless you leave them at the front desk. Gender only events that family outside of the targeted gender are unwelcome to attend in support of their children...it has been a rough year I wanted to take my kids out even at the last month of school and transfer to a more supportive environment

I personally feel they intervene in problematic situations in private and inform parents when it is nearly to late with an overview of failed attempts but again thats some not all instructors. mrs Carr was stellar as she went to new heights and would pick up her cell and call you as soon as she noticed a need

They didnt seem to know whom was the victim or bully in situations maybe the school ratio is so high that may be a challenge to fully witness bullying

I hate to do it as I do believe The new principal Mrs Curry has great intentions as some of the facilitators but theres a tremendous amount of system restructuring to be put in place I wish I could stay to help but not at the expense of my childs individual learning needs this includes the dual immersion program totally needs to be assessed as for its demographics and the educators of that programs need to be assessed closer to catch deficits within the objective

Theres no organization to the system, the paper take home folders cause papers to fall out plus overwhelming amounts of random worksheets and daily calendars hard to know what your kid is supposed to do. All this mixed in with classwork (mainly unfinished sometimes not even started) its a loose system I found binders worked more efficiently for my children and gave the kids confidence in knowing clearly what they were expected to do.

my neice has odd instead of being supportive they makke her life misreable they pick on her the other kids found out about it and pick on her bully her to the point she doesnt want to go back

they do nothing if they do do something it will take them 1 to 2 months for anything to happen and then after a month it happens again and no actions are taken

this is the worst school to put and child with a learning disability or any disability if you report them they report you even though my student has gotten beaten at the school they will make it to where you look bad im amazed that this school is still functioning these teachers are horrible and the kids are mean and nothing is done

they dont even make sure the kids have thir homework and when they bring it to school tell them to throw it away

they do nothing when their studet is being bullied to the point where they dont feel safe going to school and will call dfacs on you if you call to complain so much about you student coming home with bruises clothes cut

these students get away with picking on kids with disabilities just because they can they dont repect anyone and they are horrible

Love this school. Mr. Mosely is a fantastic principle (the kids love him), awesome vice principle, excellent teachers, positive environment- everyone from the front staff to the guidance counselor to the art teacher has treated us well and made us feel welcome. Everyone seems really energetic and excited to be there. This school is doing something right.

Norton Park is a wonderful school. The leadership and staff at this school is just incredible and I can't say enough good things about the teachers I have encountered. Everyone is so friendly and they genuinely care about each and every student. I have been in other schools with higher ratings and higher test scores and felt very much like a face in the crowd but at Norton Park everyone really tries their best to make parents and family members feel welcome and to get them involved. The transient nature of the student body and the impact this has on test scores caused me to hesitate when first enrolling my son but we decided to give it a try. 2 years later I'm very happy with our decision and wouldn't change schools for a 10 out of 10 rating if we were paid to, we love the school that much. And there is something to be said about getting back from a school what you put in. Our family is very involved at the school so I know my son is in great hands every day. From the Principal to the custodial staff, everyone is very pleasant and will do anything for these kids!

I have a child attending this school. The Principal, Vice Principal and teachers we have had the pleasure of working with have all been excellent. Our real concern is with the transient nature of the student body and lack of english as a primary language. Are native english speakers going to be left behind while there is a heavy focus on basic english to prepare these students for their education. What happens to the kids who don't need this language support, are they left behind?
