awtrey is an okay school, the administrators arent fair and you get suspended for every referral no matter what your defense is or how it happened. the kids are mean and nasty and so are the teachers and admins , but the teaching and learning is good. there are fights all the time that people know and dont know about, death threats and other rude things are exchanged everyday. the special needs teachers hit the kids and talk to them in a mean way when they cant control it, if you want your child to have good education, id go here but if you also want them to have no friends and be bullied then okay.

I have been a student at Awtrey for 3 years and i am so glad its my last year here. The administration is rude and dismissive when i try and report bullying. And the counselors here don't understand the meaning of confidential, they have told my business to several of the kids that bullied me. Awtrey is the worst school please don't send your kids here.

I cant say enough great things about this school! My oldest started at Awtrey three years ago, and now my middle child attends as well. The faculty and staff are incredibly supportive and knowledgeable, always going above and beyond for their students.

I especially appreciate the PBIS rewards program, which provides positive reinforcement and helps students stay motivated. My oldest once struggled with math, but thanks to an outstanding 7th-grade teacher, they built confidence and are now thriving in honors math courses in high school.

Awtreys band program is another highlightour family always looks forward to the spring performance. And of course, Principal Jeff Crawford, who has been with the school for over twenty years, is a phenomenal leader who truly cares about his school community.

Overall, I couldnt be happier with Awtrey Middle School. It has been a wonderful place for my children to learn, grow, and succeed!

I'm honestly surprised to see any bad reviews, we have had the absolute best experience here for my son! The administration staff is compassionate, relates with the kids, and engages with them. My son likes most of his teachers, which is hard for middle school. No issues with bullying, nor has my son had any friends with issues regarding it. Frankly, of all my friends in other middle schools and Cherokee County, we have had way less issues than any of them (dealing with furries, trans confusion, sex,). had even considered doing school choice for my son and I'm so grateful I didn't!!

This school honestly needs to be shut down and the funds redirected to more worthwhile investments. This past year was an absolutely miserable experience thanks to the lead administration teams utter refusal to address repetitive sex and hate based attacks. A little research shows this kind of thing has been going on for over a decade. The county and state either need to step in or shut it down altogether. For shame awtrey staff and those that enable them.

I am currently a student at Awtrey and would like to share my input. Honestly, this school is average. Other kids may have had a different experience, some good, some bad. Mine was only average. The teaching is a little above average, but socially this school is definitely lacking.

Yes, teachers do help students with certain topics. But sometimes they just brush over a topic and expect every student to learn it right away.

I'm in my 8th grade and the only classes that encourage creativity are art, music classes, and science when we do labs. They tell us what to think not how to think.

There's a lot going on staff and parents don't know about. Yes, they tell us about leadership, but nobody uses it. They'res kids skipping class, smoking occasionally, and bulling too.

They help with some kids that have told the front office and their parents know. However, some kids don't feel comfortable telling other people. The staff never ask about children when we are fidgeting, looking anxious, or just looking down in general. (which can affect our learning)

Most staff only do the bare minimum, like tell them to stop and suspend them if it's physical. I got told to kill myself and a teacher obviously heard and only told them to not say that again.

Two of my kids have gone through Awtrey Middle School and there is a third on the way. We have been very pleased with the teachers and I appreciate the administration's willingness to talk about different options when a student needs to be challenged more or is struggling. I find the focus on character building refreshing, including using Covey principles most recently.

I find Jeff Crawford, the Principal, to be an outstanding leader and only hope he is there a few more years so my daughter can attend Awtrey while he is still there.

The administration and teachers are very good about working with parents where students either need to be challenged more or are struggling. I don't feel like there is a cookie-cutter approach.

I think it is average because everything is normal except for the girls dress code compared to the boys. The boys get to wear shorts and regular clothes that they wear on a daily basis. Girls on the other hand arent allowed to wear leggings unless their shirt is covering their bottom. All of the girls have been discussing how it isnt fair that they cant wear shorts that go above the knee. The girls arent saying that they would wear booty shorts. But they are saying that they would wear sporty shorts and jean shorts. This reveiw probably wont help anything because you are probably going to disagree with me. But Im just telling you whats not fair for dress code.

the teachers take a personal interest to ensure each students grasp the content before moving forward. Several of the teacher came in early or stayed late to offer students additional help with their subject matter.

The administrators, counselors and teachers go to great length to hold the students responsible and accountable for their individual behavior. I saw fairness and consistency across the board. Students were not just punished for bad behavior but the staff at Awtrey took the time to correct, teach and educate in an effort to improve and change behavior. students are rewarded and recognized for good behavior which can serve as a motivator.

This was our first year in public schools. It was a smooth transition and i didn't see where Awtrey Middle School lacked any thing my child received at a private school where I forked out $7,500 a year. I was very very impressed with all my childs teachers with the exception of one. She wasn't very responsive to my request. The Principal, assistant principal and counselors were excellent. the front office administrators were always helpful and courteous.

I did HB251 to get my son in a better Middle School and he is now a 7th grader at Awtrey Middle School. I am very pleased with the staff of 7th grade teachers (Ms. lipscomb; Ms. Lytle; Mr. Perry; Ms. Smyre and Ms. Thompson). They are dedicated to what they are doing and and strive for academics excellence. my son is being challenged and all of his teachers see his potential for greatness. Ms. Evans as been a support as well as a blessing. I can contact them via email and they get back with me right away. I know my son will continue to do well at Awtrey Middle School because he has the support of his teachers as well as his family. Thanks for all you do.

My oldest child attended Awtrey before Jeff Crawford was principal and before the opening of Barber Middle School. Awtrey has made a major transformation since this time and I am pleasantly surprised and proud of this school. Awtrey Middle School is an excellent school. All grades lead as a team and teachers are encouraging students to join groups such as band, orchestra, chorus. My child is an athlete but found he was quite a musician after meeting band teacher Mr. Sessoms. This school is focused on academics and challenging students to do more. The teachers are happy and motivate children in a positive way to do more.

This school is the worst I have ever seen with issues of bullying. My child has bullies at school and on the bus and then they taunt him all the way home. No one wants to do anything about it. The school doesn't help with these issues at all. It's out of control at this school. I wouldn't recommend any parent to send their kid to this school. I know several parents with children going through the same issues.
