My 3 children go here and I am involved in PTA and Band. I have a good relationship with their teachers and I feel they are in a safe environment. Their overall test scores have increased over the past 2 years as well. Stay involved in the schools and you will succeed.

There is a reason this school has such a bad. The school is unorganized, I have seen that teachers and administrators seem to ENJOY BULLYING students, all around are disrespectful. I have NEVER seen this behavior from “professionals”. I have seen and heard guidance counselors ROLL THEIR EYES at students in distress.

As well as the students, the school doesn’t seem to do a lot about bullying or the frequent drug use and gang violence happening. The school itself is in disrepair, the bathrooms are filthy and some areas lack proper air and heating.

The security is garbage and any person with ill intent can come and have their way.

If you’re a parent considering enrolling your kid in this school, DO NOT. My child will transferring during the next school semester because of the problems I’ve stated. I would love to see a news station come up there and see what is really happening here.

This school is making a really bad 1st impression thus far. I really hope the teachers are better than all the registration staff and front office personnel. They have registration only 3 days a week and even if you make an appointment online, you may very well end up being SOL when you show up. They NEVER.. well, I can’t say never, because out of the 2 weeks I have been calling, leaving voicemails AND sending emails, I finally got through to someone yesterday. And even though they say Registrations are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday… sometimes they just decide they won’t have anything on a random Thursday it seems. (Oh, and after next week, no appointments for three weeks…. So, in case you were thinking of having your child enrolled soon because you’re moving or have some other circumstance… you kid(s) is going to be on a 3 week vacation. (The first of those weeks, is fall break though, so only 2 weeks of school work missed that they will need to make up along with what they already will need to get caught up with.) To top it off…Solely based off a conversation I overheard in the registration room... (No Privacy).. the counselors don’t seem to be rooting for the children to stay in school and graduate either. I only wish we had the option...well, schedule to petition to be able to enroll outside of our district. If you can drive and pick your child up from school every day, this is what I suggest you do and NOT enroll them in this school. Again though, I hope I am wrong and we love it here eventually.

My experience at this school has been amazing. My mom never thought i would attend this school due to the bad rep people put out about it and now she loves it. Yes we fall short sometimes but what high school doesn't ? The environment is something you would want to be apart of... EAGLE NATION!!!

Overall, the kids at South Cobb are great. It's just the few bad ones that give the school a bad reputation. This school is judged by any and every problem that occurs, but never recognized for the many accomplishments by its students and dedicated principal. I am a senior in the Magnet program here and must say that I could never imagine being anywhere else. Out of the multiple schools I've been to, I can honestly say that I've encountered some of the hardest- working, determined students while at South Cobb. I am proud to be a part of this family because as our principal reminds us everyday, "We are NOT what people may say, WE are NOT what people may think, We ARE better than they ever could imagine. Just come on down to South Cobb and see what we're truly capable of.

The mentality of the school has gone down tremendously. The children act and sound as if they live in the 'hood' and seem to impersonate gang-bangers. I have had two children graduate and my third child just finished freshman year there. We are moving to East Cobb. I remained an active parent and that is the ONLY way that I didn't lose my children there. Kudos to the principal and a few other teachers/administrators because they really have their hands full.

After listening to so many so-so answers. Before my child attended SCHS, I found SCHS to be just as Excellent and Superior as all the other High Schools. This comment from a parent that is very particular about where my children education comes from. Also, both kids attended private schools. I think its all about the parent and the child studying, listening, respect, and wanting to be EDUCATED!!!!

I am a Freshman at South Cobb, for middle school I went to a private school which in comparison was much better. In terms of public school South Cobb has a lot of opportunities such as the Magnet program and AP classes. If you take advantage of different activities at South Cobb you will have a better experience. However unlike the private school I went to they have a percentage of students who act negatively. I have had someone attempt to steal my phone, and seen a fight during class. This percentage can be found at just about any school. If you are friends with people who are not this percentage and you are not this percentage you will be fine. Over all in terms of public school South Cobb is a good school with great teachers, a good principle and some amazing students such as myself. If you are looking for a good Public High School, South Cobb might just be for you! You should try it and see if you'd like to stay

I graduated from SCHS in '89 and my children are now attending and I think for the most park the school is doing the best they can with the funds that they have. Kids who want to learn will learn and those who don't want to learn will make it harder for the teacher to do their job. Over populated classrooms, because noone can afford to pay for more teachers in each subject. It would be wonderful if we could get volunteers to assist with tutoring after school programs for children who are struggling in their studies. Facing these challenges I believe SCHS still has great things to offer, with a great group of kids, caring teachers and a good staff.

My daughter is a Freshman at South Cobb High school. I have been monitoring ALL of the schools in Cobb County for some time now and SCHS is definitely improving. A school's success lies beyond test results and statistics. You must be involved to experience the positive changes and not rely on negative word of mouth or isolated incidents. EVERY school has issues. There are a lot of great/effective programs, students and educators at SCHS. Unfortunately, only certain schools receive accolades or recognition. We need to get the word out about the positive impact SCHS is making.

I am parent with 6 students that attended south Cobbi now have 4 left. I see a big difference since my first child attended. I'm not from here and I don't see s lot of patent involvement in the schools in this area. I have seen students skipping, cursing disrespect teachers which is unacceptable. I like South Cobb it has potential to striving to bring successful but we as parents and a community need to come together and changing what's going on around us. Let's take our community back let's Build Our Schools, it can be done do let's do it..

My son has attended SCHS going on 4 years. He has always attended a private school. He went from a school of about 200 students to a school of almost 2000. Once we both started getting involved, we began to see the difference in not only the school, but in his behavior and attitude toward the school. SCHS is definitely moving in the right direction and the principal- Mr Hosey is right on target. He is determined to see that this school is one that stands amongst the greatest of schools. I strongly encourage those who are currently and are thinking about attending SCHS, to get involved and make a difference. The school is only as good as the administrators, parents, and students make it. Although my son will be graduating next year, i still plan to continue my involvement because I see the great things that the administrators want for the school and with the community, parents, and administrators involved, the sky is the limit as to the great school this will be. Although I ranked the teachers and parents at the level that I did, again, the school is definitely moving in the right direction as long as they keep Mr Hosey. Let start being apart of the solution. Lets get involved.

I am a sophmore at SCHS and it is horrible I'm now in the magnet program and they barley teach us anything I went to pebblebrook and I don't understand why people want to come to this school its ghettoer and worse than pebblebrook. Pebblebrook has mor extracurricular activities and better staff here Im wanting to transfer back to pebblebrook

This is my daughter's second year at SCHS. I have heard many things about SCHS, most of them not true, and I am on an all out journey to change the perception of the school. Mr. Hosey, in his short time as Principal, has done great things. You get out of it what you put in it. Parents must be more involved - Schools like Wheeler, N Cobb, etc has the participation of their parents. Get involved to make a difference for the school, but more important for our children.

I attended South Cobb High School since 2009, and I must say that South Cobb HS has come a long way. The staff there is incredible, including Mr, Hosey. I am proud to be an Eagle.

As a current student of SCHS and after watching my siblings graduate from the school, I can honestly say that South Cobb High School is a wonderful school. We've had our low moments but we're coming back on top & we will not stop. It is truly a school of excellence where the students are beginning to all become a family. I would not chose any other school to grow with. Eagle Nation.

South Cobb High School has excellent teachers, A very strong principal and challenging academic programs. The Magnet Program is very rigorous and fun. Also the school environment is diverse and the campus is clean and beautiful. South Cobb is rising to the top and doing more for its students than many other schools in Cobb County.

i currently go to south cobb and i personally like the school. the one thing i dont like are the uniforms, we are in high school and shouldn't be treated like middle schoolers.otherwise this is a great school and the the magnet program is awesome.
