One of the BEST elementary schools in the district I attended and my kids attended this school. My daughter misses the school since they decided to not rebuild she tells me everyday Martinez is a good school but south columbia was better the teachers and staff were friendly. My daughter attended from pre k until 3rd. The post from other people below is just crazy your child should know how to count to 10 before going to prek.... my 2 yr old knows how to count to 10 so if your child that's in prek doesn't know how that's because you as a parent didn't spend time with your child on learning. They also had the best guidance counselor that worked wonders she's now at Martinez.

By far, this is the worst School you may find in the country, be careful when sending your kid there. All of what Pre-k teacher do is dancing, So your kid will learn nothing. My daughters told me she loved to dance with her teacher, but when I ask her to count up to 10, she couldn't. The teacher will tell you how much she work hard with the students and she will give you always good rating for your kid, but they will do nothing. They like to send kids homes early, they liked to send them for any reason including seasonal allergies. You also need to be careful when complaining about teachers, since this will convert to be a form of personal issue. They will find away to attack-back. I never expected this, but that happened, the problem is that they will form an ally and find a way to attack back. Stay away, your pre-k kid will learn nothing, my daughters has a lot of behavioral issues because of the way she was treated

I cannot speak about all the teachers because I did not experience all of them but the one I did experience ruined it for them all. My child came home confused and emotionally hurt. Saying that she would hold her hand up soo long to ask a question that she finally lowered her hand because her arm began to hurt.

Students spend 8 hours a day at school and come home with hours of homework. THEY NEED A BREAK TO BE KIDS.

I experienced a teacher isolating students for different reasons, and this is not fair for any of the students.

As a parent and as a prospective elementary teacher, I felt utterly disgusted by this school. Every time I entered the school with my kindergartner I felt unwanted and unwelcome by administrators teachers and faculty. I had no communication with the teacher; had to call a conference at week 9 to have the first conversation with the teacher other than on the day of open house. I was told that I was not allowed in my child's classroom to observe, to participate or to volunteer my time. It is absurd to tell a parent that wants to be involved that they are not welcome to. I would not recommend this school to anyone, and I will never put my kids back into this school.
