All of the Google reviews are now gone? That should tell you something right there.

My experience with this school and its parent company has been very disappointing. I raised a concern, was told it was being elevated, and then received no response to any of my follow-ups. How a school/company responds when something goes wrong matters.

Im very happy to be at a different daycare now - one that is much less expensive, open year-round (why does this school close so often?), and has significantly better communication with families.

The school is not a safe environment for young children. The staff has repeatedly lost my child and then taken steps to obfuscate communication. The last communication we had with the school was that they unenrolled him when we tried to escalate our concerns. The school itself is owned by a Private Equity firm, yep, thats right, Wall Street comes to Main Street so hopefully that gives all the parents warm fuzzies. The school is more concerned with protecting their bottom line and reputation than the health and well-being of vulnerable youth.

This was the most negative educational experience of my students life. Teachers and administration allow physical attacks and violence and do not have any disciplinary procedures in place.

We are currently a family here. We're waiting on change, but we will likely leave as soon as we find somewhere else. The same goes for 11 families (of 24) in our son's primary (3-6yo) class. The school is not accredited per AMI as their website states, and they also do not have Spanish speaking teachers in every classroom as the website states. Staff turnover is high, and communication is slacking despite the Procare App they use. Ratios are 1:12, which are much higher than most small schools out there. 1 lead teacher and 2 assistants (paid $14/hr) in each classroom with tiered arrival and departure times. The best part of the school are the hours, 7:30-6:00pm with tuition around $2000 a month. If you all see this, please know I will change my review when the changes are made.

Dismal experience at this school.
TLTR: Incredibly expensive, but lack in even basic childcare principles.

Attended from April 2023 - September 2023.

In only 5 months, we had a horrible experience and decided to leave this school. There were a few positives, but the overall experience was a huge disappointment.

Positives:
- Nice campus and staff were overall very friendly.
- Teaching basic independent skills (putting on shoes, etc.).

Negatives:
- Hygiene: Had issues even up to the last month where our son wasn't cleaned properly and had resulting severe rashes.
-Safety: When a teacher was absent or late, had front desk staff watching kids in the lobby with a door directly leading to parking lot. It was fixed, but it is baffling that such an expensive school needed a parent to highlight this.
-Developmentally inappropriate potty training: Montessori is supposed to follow the Childs lead. This school completely counters that by mandating potty training at 2. Our professional experience as a pediatrician and child therapist were dismissed because according to them "this is the Montessori way." They elect to disregard current research and best practices.
-Staff turnover: Had constant issues with staff being reassigned. Makes it hard for parents and children to connect to classroom when aides come and go. Especially after some of these aides made such an effort to connect. They emailed saying these aides were assigned to your room, but crickets when they were removed from the room.
MONEY: Tuition raised twice in only 5 months with no discernible improvements. Don't know what the craft fee does as I can't remember receiving any crafts. We were also still asked to bring things like bananas so the class can practice peeling and cutting. No idea where all the money goes.
-Bug Bites: Provided spray, but our son was riddled with bug bites.
-Disappointing farewell: Last day, teacher simply said "goodbye (son's name)." I really expected a little more. Even "good luck to you."
-At least one example of a teacher neglecting to greet kids when they came the room. She was just helping in our room, but justified by saying "this is what I do in my classroom."
-Lack emotional support: Noticed a couple instances of children crying and not receiving support from nearby teachers.

Can't go in more detail due to character restraints, but this was such a subpar experience. I expect more for a school that charges over $2000 a month.

Prior to COVID-19, this school was a caring and loving environment, but more importantly, you trusted the academic rigor that was promised as part of their primary and lower elementary programs. We had our son enrolled here for ~5 years, so we supported and knew the school administrators and community well. Bottom line, no parent who is willing to pay private school tuition for Montessori education should put their child at this school. There are too many issues to write on this forum. In our last year there, our son's 2 lower elementary teachers were sub-par, providing less than 1 academic lesson per week to each student in any subject. There was zero communication to parents that the senior teacher in the classroom left mid-year. The administration never backfilled, or even obtained a certified substitute. In one primary classroom (3-6 years) there were 4 lead teachers who left in a single year. Sadly, it is the children who suffer academically at AMIS. If you are considering this school, please speak to someone who has left to hear their experience. If you live in DeKalb and want a good Montessori education, please consider the school choice lottery for Briar Vista Elementary's public Montessori program. It is amazing in terms of academic rigor, with quality (long-time) Montessori teachers who care about student's academic progression, as well as celebrating culture and diversity of students! Best part is that its free!! Our son is thriving there now.

My two year old loves AMIS she tells me everyday at pick up so much fun at school and always hugs her teacher before we leave. We had negative experiences at daycares so I know she would let me know if she did not like going to school.

AMIS was a horrendous experience for my poor child and everyone who loves him. The environment is completely free of nurturing and compassion - presumably, hopefully, someone there is nuturing and compassionate to the children, but it was no one who we met -, and the teachers demonstrated a lack of basic knowledge of children. Lacking such basic knowledge that my friend begged me to post an email from one of the teachers so that it would speak for itself and warn parents directly from the source. That it was the only school without a wait list should have been a red flag to me.

This school used to be great but has been mired with incompetent leadership particularly coming from the Corporate Endeavor team. Hours of my life have been dedicated solely to chasing down administrators to proactively understand the types of things one would expect an expensive private school to communicate to parents...did my child's teacher leave 3 weeks ago without you notifying me that she left? Why did I just get an email stating you're going to switch my kid to another class in a week before discussing this with me? Did multiple teachers leave after 1 month? Why are there 33 kids in the class?

Additionally, the school recently had a corporal punishment allegation that I believe was handled in a manner that did not put the well being of the children first. This school has become a parents worst nightmare.

That said, there are pockets of goodness with some key educators holding down the fort. And we are grateful for those teachers.

I would give 0 stars if possible. I'm father of three, two are much older, I tried this school for my little one. There is a substantial lack of empathy with the child. My daughter was at her first experience after the pandemic at home. Clearly, she needed some time to adjust. They didn't allow. Even if just 1.5 years old, they started potty training without consulting us. Result: after week one she was scared to death to be changed even by the parents. We ask to stop potty training for a while, result: every day she had diaper rash. After three days at home, diaper rash was fading away, getting worst a school. Some days, she was coming back dirty. Also, they claimed she was unable to eat alone (surprise, surprise, 18 months old). Result: they never managed to feed her, just some snacks in 3 weeks!!! We were providing fruit and snacks, these were coming back closed... They were not event trying... After 3 weeks we withdrew her, we lost money (obviously they did not offer any refund, 300 bucks just for the application, 500 bucks for material my daughter will never use), but our daughter, usually smiley and joyful, was just sad and scared. What is more important than the health of your kids? At the top of that, when we announced our intention to withdraw her, we also asked to meet the instructors to discuss the case. Answer: "good luck", "we'll meet your daughter when she will be more independent..." I think if Maria Montessori was here, she would kick these people out. If you look at the website, you will notice just a few personnel, but what about the assistants? Can we see what happens during a regular schoolday? "No", they said... "Privacy issues". Come on!!! I see excellent reviews, but they all date back to at least 3 years now. I think that now this is the worst childcare I ever dealt with. And you know what? It is also the most expensive in the area.

Our two sons now 5 and 3, have been attending AMIS since they were infants, and it has been a truly wonderful experience. The teachers here are truly top-notch, and are clearly in it for the right reasons. They are absolute saints who truly care for your child's development and happiness, and the results are seen in the amazing children that populate this school. Our only concerns have been with the leadership changes and initial questions about a few early decisions that seemed to be "money grabs" (discontinuing certain programs, taking on too many children which lowered teacher-student ratios), but those concerns resolved themselves. It's an ideal place to send your child if you can afford it - the cost factor will soon force us into moving homes and entering our boys into public school, but we will be sad to leave and our children will be infinitely richer for the experience with the wonderful staff and faculty at AMIS.

Both of my children have been at AMIS for 2-3 years in the primary and elementary programs. In the last few years, this school has transformed into am amazing place. Parents are very involved and teachers are very dedicated. Pros: This is not a place that is good because it selects the right students. This is a place where any child can come and become self-actualized as a learner and a thinking. The environment is diverse, the families here are wonderful, and the children grow feeling respect for their classmates while honoring similarities and differences. Just the other day my daughter told me "this is not a school were we have bullying. I don't know why . . .we just don't." Any individual concerns we have had have been addressed immediately and thoughtfully. On the whole, we are so grateful to be a part of a community that supports our children academically, socially, and emotionally.

The staff, the environments, and the leadership is amazing at AMIS. Our daughter started in the Nido environment in March and we couldn't have picked a better school. We are impressed every day at the school's communication, leadership, and strive to make our children better human beings. And I believe that AMIS has improved our daughter's self-confidence, self-awareness and overall disposition.

My daughter attended AMIS from age 4 (primary) through the 2nd year of Junior High (8th grade equivalent). As a parent, I especially appreciated the school positive and nurturing environment that promotes a love of learning, strong global values about nature and the environment, and an opportunity to learn about a broad range of world cultures and events. The teachers she had were, overall, excellent and very dedicated, eager to talk with parents. The school encouraged parents to participate in classrooms and in school events, and I felt very engaged. My daughter came away from AMIS with a great love of learning and an organized approach to studying that serves her well in her high school studies, where she has been academically strong and enjoying the broader social scene. At AMIS I sometimes worried about limited homework in Upper El, but watching her homework requirements now I am so glad she had time in those earlier years to really explore her interests. This is a wonderful school.

Management of the school changed over the summer of 2014 when new formal management took over from the founder of the school who had run it for its first ten years. Some of the older reviews may no longer be applicable. The new director has been wonderful about seeking the input of parents re management of the school and ideas for the school. Our two children have been at AMIS for several years starting in primary and moving up to elementary. We chose AMIS from other Montessori schools in the area because of its diverse community and its welcoming environment. It doesn't have the feel of a stuffy private school. AMIS families are mostly academics and CDC researchers who value education. AMIS's teachers have really worked hard to be very flexible working with our children's needs and our children have really blossomed both academically and socially as a result. I can't say enough about how wonderful the teachers at AMIS are. Overall, a wonderful warm school.

AMIS is one of the best kept secrets in Montessori education in the Atlanta-area. The school is very Montessori and very inclusive with its diverse(race, gender, thought) student body and teachers. Our child started at eighteen months in the Toddler class (Young Children Community) and within a month, she learned toileting, putting on a jacket, pant, and shoes, and setting up a dining table. Not to mention her increase in vocabulary. She says a new word to us everyday and is now able to string together 2 - 3 words. We couldn't be happier. We also love the welcoming environment and the opportunities for parents to receive feedback from the teachers and to learn about how to implement Montessori at home. We are especially fond of the curriculum nights - an avenue for parents to learn more about a Montessori topic. The school is more transparent about school affairs than the previous school our child attended. The head of school regularly holds teas and coffee sessions with parents to address parental concerns and to exchange thoughts and ideas on how to improve the community. Overall, we're glad and happy about our choice of AMIS for our child's Montessori education.

This school is a real money maker for the owners. The student to teacher ratio is over 2X, the cost is 4X and the teachers have no qualifications. It is a glorified orphanage. Parents were really mislead to think students can work at their own pace. Our child has been held back. The program is archaic. Parent involvement is discouraged. Big mistake!!!

My son has been at AMIS for 3 years. We are overall very happy with the school. PROS: His teachers are very supportive and encouraging. I love how they (and the Montessori philosophy) allow him to excel in areas he's interested in. As a 5 year-old, he's already being exposed to division concepts and he is thrilled. I also love the green space, actual use (not just talk of) sustainable practices, insistence on healthy foods and non-commercial practices (ie-no branded sippy cups). CONS: They are "very" Montessori, so if there is any part of the educational philosophy you don't like, you will not be happy here. Though the student-teacher ratios are great, the classroom sizes are huge (over 28 in one primary class). Finally, there is no community feel or much parental involvement.

I absolutely love the AMIS community. While the school has had some growing pains, the families, teachers, and administration have weathered it together as a true community. My children are are happy to their cores - and truly love learning. I would recommend this school to anyone who values the growth and learning a child finds in a loving, nurturing community of adults and kids alike.

This is a fabulous school community, with truly wonderful and caring teachers. My child is in second year primary and his progress has been amazing. But more importantly, the montessori environment has given him a true love of and excitement for learning. I could not ask for more. I cannot say enough good things about AMIS.
