A teacher hit my kid i was informed at 340 on a friday. They didnt call the law they sent her home. I had to call the law. They didnt ... if your not in there pockets giving them money you and your kid is done for. THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST SCHOOLLLL. I HAVE A 6TH GRADER AND A 3RD GRADER

Our son has attended for five years and this school has really gone downhill. We have experienced teachers dragging their heels to assess if our son needed more support; many teachers are rude - probably because theyre paid less than other schools in the county; some of the teachers bully students without reprimand; they seem more concerned about uniforms than addressing real problems like bullying and school safety. This school has a phenomenal record for mishandling situations. Many of our sons friends have left the school for all these issues and more. This school is currently without a principal and the previous principal was only there for 2.5 months! We had high hopes this school would be a great experience but sadly we continue to be disappointed. CCAS is a BIG letdown!!

The school is the best elementary school in Senoia and better than most in the tri county area, the state scores prove it. They are well above the state average! Uniforms are required and are not too expensive. Students have 2 PE days per week, specials classes and there are limited slots for the before and after care program. Our child never has hot lunch so we can not speak on that. The teachers have all been great however there is a turnover every few years because the teachers can make more at county schools. After a certain number of years of experience, the salary maxes out and some switch over to the county to earn a higher salary. The school is currently undergoing some renovations and upgrades. Overall, our child has thrived there and the school has been responsive to any questions or concerns. There is no transportation so students must either use the schools before & after care or one that provides transportation otherwise it is up to the family to do car pool drop off and pick up.

This school is terrible, and the food is terrible even the pizza terrible. I almost got told to put my computer while I was doing work

Great academics, fun for the kids, and overall great environment. My son really thrives here, as do all the other kids I know who attend Coweta charter. They have some weird rules in my opinion (no lunch visitors), usually no visitors for class parties, etc. however, I do appreciate the safety and security that those rules offer. Overall really great school!

I have both my daughters in CCAS. They love going to school every day to see their teachers which greet them with a smile every morning. I want my daughters to be strong smart women like their mom when they grow up and I think CCAS is helping with that. They will be challenged to a higher standard than public school with assignments and homework so you have to expect that. We should want that for our children to help them achieve there highest potential in life. The staff at CCAS are great and treat the kids with kindness and patience. My girls don't mind eating at the cafeteria because it is good and for parents very healthy. The classroom sizes are very reasonable. It is always clean and during this COVID season they have been great taking care of the kids and making sure to take great precautions to get the kids back safe into the classroom. I would recommend CCAS to all parents.

So apparently if kids don't complete their homework they just don't include the zero's in their " final grade "; custodial parent has children during school days and does not help children with homework nor does she make sure its completed; need the school to hold parents AND children accountable, not just " push " them through the school year

How effective can a teacher truly be with extremely high student to teacher ratios; they are not as posted on the internet; my son had 20+ students to one teacher in his class; I often wonder how they calculate grades, because I would see several failing grades yet report cards would somehow be C's?

The assistant principle was somewhat more helpful than the principle; however the principle was pretty much dismissive with my concerns and my children were the ones truly affected in the end; they do not honor their attendance policies; my children, despite my legal attempts to address attendance and tardy issues, the school dismissed my concerns and did not address such with the other parent

Overall I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend them; the staff at the front, including the registrar, were not friendly; when information was requested they were short in response and had an unwillingness to want to help; at one point my cell phone number was released without my permission; It took several requests to the registrar and principle, because they kept ignoring them, before my number was removed from other the other parents registration paperwork

My child is treated as an individual. What used to be frustrating nights doing homework has become supportive learning and skill development. At another school, they would be timed daily on how quickly they read (without focusing on reading comprehension) and would get very frustrated, but at this school, there is an emphasis on what you are reading- not how fast you can spit out words.
I'm happy because my kids are happy and love school.

My child used to have an IEP. He was taken off but we still collaborate as if he has one. I have twins who are very different learners. Not only is it recognized that they are different people and learn differently, but they help my twins identify how each learns the best. Former teachers in other schools would group them together and it bothered them. Here- they are individuals.

Learning objective achieve state standard but in fun ways! For example, erite a story about how you were given your name or ask your patent to share a memory from when they were in school.
They are listening to a story, comprehending it and writing a narrative in their own words.
Homework doesn't jump around either. It builds and masters the objective then moves on to the next.

The comments of parents here with the more negative-toned reviews deserve to have more weight added to their reviews as they cover very important aspects of the school.

It is not enough to simply have "nice staff" and "nice, good teachers." The teachers are not supported here. There is a financial disconnect that I can't seem to trace. If the school gets a voucher, it is surely in the amount of what it would cost your child to go to a regular public school. The difference? CSUSA is a for-profit business. The government may be government, but it is not trying to make money off your child in school. Where is the money going to if this school has the same problems (or worse than) as public schools? All the parents provide the supplies! All the parents volunteer for many of the positions that are otherwise paid labor! This deserves much more attention than is paid to it.

Unfortunately this school is too busy putting out fires to focus on improving educational opportunities. We left CCAS when we were on our third teacher in two months. Children need stability, and their high teacher turnover rate mid-year is a huge problem.

This is our sixth year at CCAS and we love this school! Our children are loved and encouraged academically in a way that accommodates their individual learning styles. Parental involvement is required; 20 hours per year for families with one child attending and 30 hours per year for families with 2 or more children attending. We easily satisfy the volunteer hour requirements each year with opportunities provided by both teachers and administration. We enjoy the "village" approach of educating our children. Great school!

Super welcoming environment. I have two kids at the school and enjoy spending lots of time volunteering to help benefit the school and their individual education. With a 20 hour volunteer requirement for 1 child and 30 hour volunteer requirement for multiple children, I found that I fulfilled my annual requirement before the first month of school was complete. Of course that won't stop me from helping out more. I truly enjoy assisting the incredible teaching staff in any way I can. Every face that works in the building is smiling and friendly. I have enjoyed several years at CCAS, and look forward to many more!

My son finished kindergarten at CCAS & is starting first grade there this week. We could not have asked for a better experience so far!
His teacher was amazing & challenged him academically. He ended kindergarten reading on a second grade level. Not to mention, he loves school!
As far as volunteering, I'm not sure why other commenters had trouble & said that opportunities were nonexistent. That was not the case for us. The opportunities are there. From helping with morning or afternoon car line, helping the front office & the specials teachers, being a lunchroom helper, helping with your child's teacher. Multiple times throughout I helped in my son's classroom & yes, during the school day. Then there are the after school clubs & more opportunities there. For parents who cannot be there during the school day, there are chances for volunteering in the evenings with spirit nights, blood drives, book fairs & many other events throughout the year.
I find the school to be very organized. Information is communicated mainly by email. We receive a week newsletter by email, I know to expect it & look out for it to stay informed. There is also a parents Facebook page that posts all official school information. There have been times that the front office has gladly given me certain forms that I was unable to print out.
The uniform policy has been a non issue. I am actually very grateful to not be buying back to school clothes right now. My son really only wears his uniform 3 days a week. One day is PE & Fridays are jeans day.
CCAS has exceeded our expectations so far & we are looking forward to another wonderful school year!!

Fantastic school! So much to love! The teachers, admin. & staff truly care about each and every student. There is a wonderful gifted program and the special needs children have so many amazing resources available for them. The individualized learning program is very unique. The science lab, Spanish, art, band, orchestra, computer lab, vocal & instrumental and PE are some of specials offered. There is a dedicated volunteer page so you can see all the ways to volunteer and there is plenty to do! Kudos to CCA for being environmentally responsible and not sending to much paper home it is so much more efficient to view it online. There is free after school tutoring in math and reading for those that really need it. We have been there since the school opened in the Fall of 2010 and we still love it!

Disappointing environment. This was our son's first year. We had high hopes for the school given everything we were told on the tour especially the parent involvement. We found out shortly thereafter school started that the administration lied. The parent involvement is nonexistent. When you walk into the school you are not greeted in a friendly manner. In fact if you want an institution or prison this is probably the school for you. When you visit the school you will see what I mean. There are other charter schools in the area and we are going to look into those. The school should be closed. It is very unfriendly and The administration needs to be let go and some new thoughts and ideas need to be welcomed. Administration will actually deny you seeing your child during school time.

We have attended CCA a since the school opened its doors. We fought so hard to have a better education option for our children and though the first couple of years were bumpy, they were still great. Concerns were listened to and changes were often made accordingly. However, as the school has expanded things have changed. It's just like any other public school and the teachers are being stretched so thin by all the extra (unnecessary) paperwork they have to do. Good teachers are leaving the school in droves and most don't seem to be happy to be there. Additionally, with all we give to the school...supplies, time (mandatory for continued attendance), fund raising...it's never enough. Homework and school forms are not sent home but instead emailed for the parents to print. No big deal for some, but huge for homes who may not have access to a computer or printer in their home. After 5 years at CCA, this year will be our last unless there is a big change. If the school your children should attend is deplorable, by all means go to CCA, your child will get a good education, but if the school they would attend is good, I wouldn't make the change to CCA.

I also have heard great reviews about the school however, I agree with the other parent in the latter comment , true parent involvement Seems to truly be an illusion. Every volunteer event is made so that parents stay clear of insructional time, meaning coming in the building during school hours is highly dislike, at least it feels based in the unhappy faces of many of the staff. I do think there is a true warmth lacking from this school, I can give this opinion based on my experience with other public and private schools my children have attended . Some parents have fear of speaking out for change in fear of losing their child spot . I would like to note that I if change never occurred there would never be charter school in the first place. Hopefully the school will warm up, and open its doors more to true parent involvement . On a postive note having options for after school help is wonderful for the students who need it . I just think the school can rise to the next level if open parent involvement was allowed.

Wonderful Experience!! My son has attended since they opened the doors and every year there is more reasons I'm glad we switched.. The teachers are top notch and the principle is THE BEST! I wish they would build the High School!!!

We love this school! My daughter has attended since kindergarten and will continue to 8th grade. We are so pleased with the passing of the charter amendment. Now the school is able to expand with a brand new 30 class addition and new recreation field and play ground. I love that volunteer time is required. It allows me to be directly involved in my child's education. Helping a teacher with cut outs, organizing papers, or donating materials gives the teacher more time with students. I am also very pleased with the Strive character program and overall standard of excellence that is expected from the students and staff.

Coweta Charter Academy is the best school in the area. High standards and discipline are the school priority; the school is expanding because more parents want their kids in the school. Parents are truly involved with their child s education as well as the school s activities. If you are a complainer and lazy parent this school is not for you let other children take advantage of the great opportunity of being there.

Not good. Lack of organization. with the new construction it is sad and depressing and the kids cannot play outside for months now. Teachers are ok - they probably work more than they would in a public school.. In general if I could I would take my child somewhere else. I do not see the benefit to it. Not to mention all the money we need to spend on supplies - fundraisers- jeans days -volunteer time etc.

A great school with great teachers! The academics are strong but what I really love is that they teach the children manners, discipline, and citizenship and hold them accountable for their behavior.
