THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!!!!!!!! Everyone there is awful and doesn't care about anything. No one has any motivation to succeed and keep others down in the process. This is a wasteland for potential, and I'm so glad I left. This school has gotten worse and worse every year, and will soon reach a point of no return. They do NOT care about students, they do NOT care about teachers, and no one there is happy or fulfilled.

Please don’t send your kids to this school. Teachers bully children without penalty. The administration coddle and protect teachers that traumatize the students. The superintendent is arrogant and a complete liability to the county. Disgusting school leadership across the board.

I recently graduated from DHHS. I saw a lot of teachers leave and new ones come through who were just okay. A lot of things go unseen at this school. There are kids doing drugs in the restroom making it hard for those of us who actually had to use it, causing long lines and other bathrooms to close making the lines even longer. This resulted in tardiness. In my time the class change time was switched from 10min to 5 min. I don’t know what they were trying to do but considering the hallways were small and lots of students. It was hard to be on time. I cannot recall a single thing about what I learned there. I found the teachers to be uncaring in regards of mental health. I do recall a few teachers who went above and beyond for all students. But they were not the majority. There were always fights. Sometimes multiple per day. A car once caught on fire in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, they need to expand where kids can park. I had to pay $12 a day to be able to drive to school. I had after school activities and my parents couldn’t pick me up so I had no choice than to drive. I payed almost $600 in parking tickets and towing fees because I parked at the school. On campus parking was reserved for dual enrollment students and teachers kids. Overall. This school isn’t great, please if you want your child to succeed but they need a little help from teachers to do so, this is not the place.

best school ever and great diversity and inclusion. produces best talent and good students. keeps students open minded about the diversity around them . best homecoming parades and also mr joyner is so awsome he believed in diversity and inclusion and how to celebrate diversity and other peoples culture when i went here this school taught me alot and kept me open minded. thank you to all the staff that helped me out.

Druid Hills High School provides a diverse educational experience to students that cannot be found in private or many suburban schools. Students leave Druid Hills prepares for the reality of life having interacted with others from different ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds.

I wouldn't change many aspects of the school. It's diversity, the teachers' passion, the ability to take IB and AP courses, all of these I didn't trade for any other experience.

Way too much from my experience. If I was better taught time management instead of being overloaded with work and told to just manage my time better, I would have done much better. When I learned time management on my own midway through college, I greatly improved all of my grades.

We're taught to respect other cultures. The school has the most diversity I've seen in a school and it taught me so much. Most critically, it taught me to value being able to talk to anyone instead of sitting in an ivory tower. Can't value that enough now.

Leadership could've been moot culturally sensitive. I was docked some days for religious events that "were not on their calendar" even though my mom vouched for them.

I wasn't tested for a learning disability even though I should have.

We were also always focused on a literary style of learning. Reading and writing were it. Nothing from other learning styles, really.

And with IB, there were so many presentations but not enough help with basic stage fright. I've always loved presenting, but felt bombarded with presentations there while I was still finding my way voice. I don't think I got any better with presentations until much later.

Excellent school nestled in a wonderful community. The students enjoy going to the school, and teachers enjoy teaching here. Students come from a great elementary schools and an AWSOME middle school. I thoroughly recommend sending your children here.

My children have not observed much cheating or plagarism by their peers and seem to be asked to include proper citations when completing research projects/papers. the school uses Turn It In dot com.

First, I want to say that the profile, rating, and test scores listed for this school are old and inaccurate in some cases. Some of the most important statistics like awards for recent AP test performance and number of International Baccalaureate candidates receiving the diploma are completely absent from the school's profile. I have multiple children who attend this school and one child who graduated from this school in 2015. All but one of my children were in the gifted/AP/IB sequence, so I cannot speak much about the "on level" classes. My child who was not in gifted, seemed to be adequately challenged in his classes and was allowed to take AP classes when he wanted to do so which may not have been allowed at a school that has a selective admission process for AP Classes. My child who graduated in 2015 was accepted to UGA and received the Zell Miller scholarship. He had a lot of credit hours for college from his AP and IB test scores. He had wonderful, dedicated teachers throughout his education at Druid Hills. In addition to a good education, this school is one of the few places where your child can experince true diversity. This school has a wonderful mix of people from all over the world, every socioeconomic group, many different racial and ethnic groups, most major religious groups, and people who are part of the LGBT. The faculty also reflects many of these diverse perspectives. Students can take classes like AP Physics from scientists at Fernbank Science center and do dual enrollment with area colleges. This is a great school for students who want academic challenge.

Punitive measures for being one second late, not the type of school that for even five minutes tells kids hurry hurry to class or like last year until the new vp came said get in your seat bemireefore announcements are over and you are ok. it's a calculated system to give a child a bad record.

The teachers literally do not care. They can take a talented kid and turn them into a demotivated depressed egg. As for attendance my kid would rather not go than be late. It was raining cats and dogs yesterday and my kid refused to go cause we had to stop because of zero visibility. My kid thought she was smart and has the test scores to prove it, now she has stated that she is incapable of doing multiple choice. Think psychological torture.... It's been five years since I've complained on this site, if i say it's bad, you better listen. As for the administration they are handling the discipline problems complained about below with people who are the same ethnicity of my child. My kid can be on the property on time and still be cited for being late and it can lead up to expulsion the smartest kid in the county.......

Druid Hills High School offers and exceptional education. I have one child that graduated with the class of 2013. She is currently finishing her sophomore year of college. She received a full scholarship. My youngest child will graduated with the class of 2015. He has over a 4.0 GPA and will receive a full scholarship as well. There are some behavioral issues at the school, but this can be found in the best of public schools. As for the faculty, I have found ALL but 1 to be highly professional and competent. Both of my children took all AP courses during their junior and senior year and did well on the AP test. I did not have a preference as to whether the school became a charter school or not, but as it is, Druid Hills is offering an exceptional education for those seeking it.

I am a currently a student at DHHS. You should think twice before sending your kid here. From unmotivated teachers, teachers in completely over their heads, ebonics from some coaches, to armed guards on campus DHHS is a shining example of a once proud school taken down by mediocrity. Don't take my word for it. Attend meetings, football games, basketball games etc and you will get a picture of DHHS. Look at the number of long term teachers that have left over the last two years, look at their less skilled replacements. Talk to the administration, talk to the counselors, watch how the lunch program is administered, look at what the students wear to school, you will be amazed at what you will see and learn. Draw your own conclusions, but I tell everyone that will listen about my DHHS experience.

I am a student at Druid Hills High School class of 2015 currently enrolled in AP classes along with many of the clubs at Druid Hills. The three main issues at Druid Hills discipline, and lack of qualified staff and the community. On the topic of discipline its not uncommon to witness 2-4 fights a week or kids walking down the hallway with ankle monitors and when its comes to punish kids for there actions its just a slap on the wrist. When it comes to the staff there are good teachers but they are few and far between due to budget cuts and rowdy kids you fail to be disciplined many just leave and the ones you stay just don't care and could care less about your education. I find myself having to reteach myself because the teacher decided that playing solitaire or updating there Facebook profile was more important and if they do teach its so vague no one learns the information. Lastly the community of Druid Hills, surrounding Druid Hills are million dollar homes and evolved parents but they've all left because the county would not listen to there input (like becoming a charter school) letting the school degrade so they just left. Druid Hills sets students up for failure.

My school is kinda sad. There is little discipline, students wear whatever they want, they talk back to teachers, some have ankle monitors on, it's really sad. If your kid is going to attend DHHS make sure you do a school tour first. My mom said almost no coaches attend the athletic fundraiser. Ask the school for information on how often the police are called to the school. I am often scared for my safety at DHHS. If you are new to Dekalb, be sure to go online and read about the school board, and how they turned down the charter cluster that the parents wanted. It's really sad.

Druid Hills has had a great past. Unfortunately the future looks bleak. Discipline continues to be a problem at my school. Many of my classes are overcrowded, and frankly, many of my classmates don't try at all. I'm really tired of all the backtalk and disrespect shown the teachers and staff. The next two years are not going to be fun.

SIPS N STROKES --TOCO HILLS is the name of my art instruction studio, located in the Publix Prommanade. I not only see wonderful students from this school, but the parents and teachers are loving, caring and wonderful. The school spirit is contagIous! I Love the concerned & passionate teachers and administrators, it may be because I am an involved parent, but that still doesnt take anything away from the positive exp I've had the past 2 yrs. Ms Adamson ( Princ) has a special gift when dealing w/ her students and parents. All of my son's teachers have work extra diligent during class and after school tutorial to make sure he gets it. I love how efficient they communicate via email when there is a concern, followed by a phn call. We will be leaving this school this yr bc some behavior issues greatly distracted my son this semester and last yr too, but i'm not certain I can run from that at any school. The schools population is higher than I prefer but that the County's fault.

I am a senior at Druid Hills. Since my freshman year in 2009 I have seen a drop in the way the school not only preforms but how it acts as well. Due to re-zoning, the school has receive more students than it can handle. Teachers sharing classrooms and dealing with classes of 30+ students. Since Avondale closed we have received an influx of unsatasfactory students. Both in terms of academis and discipline, some teachers can't handle them. Just this year there are over 100 senior students have to reatke the graduation test, for the third time. This is ridcuolous, students coming from 30+ miles away to bring down test scores and create problems just because "we can pick any school." I say put back the old districting so people in the neighborhood dont have to spend college funds sending their kids to St. Pius, Woodward or Pidea. Druid Hills has great potental given its students care and try. Currently that is not the fact. The teachers and Adminstrators do really care and try their hardest, they can lead students to water, but can't make them drink.

I am a junior that was supposed to go to a different Dekalb County school, but I am so glad I stayed at Druid Hills. The principal is on top of everything and makes sure her staff is on the same level. She even greets the students every morning. The faculty is very good, with well-educated teachers that will help you understand your homework and listen to your personal problems. The students are varied and very diverse, the one problem would be not enough intermingling among groups. The sports aren't the greatest, and spirit is somewhat lacking within the student body, but you can still have an all-rounded education.
