I attribute my students good grades to the school they attended before they transferred to this disaster of a school.
As a parent I would tell you if you can send your child anywhere else do it.
From the top of the schools administration the principal to student councilors on down, its more than obvious that everyone is doing the bare minimum of their job and doing it begrudgingly; phoning it in so to speak. Example, in my first and only meeting with the principal - before I could utter a word, she told me Im very busy if you need to talk to me you need to make an appointment. Not hello or whats your name or who is your student, maybe even, how can I help you!
Or I would like to talk with you but ..
No, Im too busy to talk to you.
The attitude of the top of the administration is belligerent, and the philosophy of do the minimum that needs to be done begins there then filters down through the entire school. Im talking every aspect of the school as I said from the top administration to the sports departments. No one seems to really care or has been given any incentive to do more than enough than to keep their jobs. Very few do anything to promote or try to motivate more out of a student or even respect and support them.
I really see very little respect for students and their achievements that are above the Minimum requirements. (Yes I capitalized Minimum on purpose) I cant tell you how many times I heard we had a test today it was so easy. Should I really be hearing that! In AP classes!
I am not saying they just need to make it more academically rigorous, first they even need to care!
Do yourselves a favor, do your child a favor no matter what it takes find another school.
Find a real school.
Find a school that supports respects and educate their students academically, in spirt and in sports.
The bottom line is: All of these kids will grow up become adults and have to make adult decisions and sadly if they draw on their past experiences from this school the decision will be, do what just gets you by.

This school was an awful experience. They vouch for respect, pride, and integrity and yet do not show any of those qualities. The teachers are extremely unhelpful and some are rude. It is a school where you have to self-learn. Students stay up all night to learn material that the teachers are supposed to teach, for just one test. The teachers favor students and grade others unfairly. This is an awful school with no respect for parents or the students.

This is our first year at CHS and my son is Gifted but not in the Magnet due to not being selected in the lottery. The school has accommodated his need for more AP classes and acceleration. He is about to complete the first successful year at CHS and will do one year of MOWR and go off to college at 15. We paid for private school for so many years and in the early years I think we had no choice as the public school system won't accelerate kids. However we are going to try and move my middle schooler into Chamblee Middle School next year and hoping for an equally good outcome as my high schooler has had in the short time we have attended.

The instruction and personal attention to the students in the magnet program has provided an outstanding educational environment for 2 of our children.

I'm a sophomore this year, and I can honestly say that Chamblee has improved immensely compared to last year during the transition from the old building to the new one. I think that the stability of being in the completely finished buildings has allowed teachers and administrators to get a grip on what students are doing. Unfortunately, about five or six wonderful teachers left the school this past summer, whether to retire or for personal reasons (some speculate pay was the main problem) and this has caused a bit of chaos which resulted in many teachers having to double up and teach different classes (ex. my old bio. teacher has three biology classes and two physics classes).

I am a sophomore at chamblee and I already want to leave. The teachers are not how they are shown to be and it's sad. Most of the teachers act as they are one with the students and a few teachers are racist and will Harass. One of my teachers constantly harassed me because of how I dressed ( I am white) when others wear much worse clothing. My parents have constantly asked her to stop and even brought it to the principal but she has yet to do anything. The principal basically let's the teachers do what they want whenever. Do not be fooled by the "greatness" chamblee is brought out to be because it isn't. The only thing keeping chamblee with good test scores and such is the magnet side. There is racism in the school also and singling out especially. Four girls were wearing running shorts ( they were no shorter than the other) and and administrator came in and sent 2/4 girls to ISS and they were black. You will not get the ideal high school experience here I recommend you go to a private school or another school.

my school is Chamblee high school. the school is very racist and the teachers do not offer help. many of the teachers are mean and use profanity. the teachers favor us Caucasians. I believe this is wrong. the principal is extremely rude and sarcastic.
