Teachers at the school are left unchecked. There are favorite teachers that are allowed to do whatever they want. When there are safety issues, they are not addressed in a timely manner. There was a major incident in my daughter’s classroom that was not reported until three or four days after the incident. When I brought my concerns to the teacher, she characterized my concern as curiosity, as if I was just being nosey. A lot of the teachers are wonderful, but many leave a lot to be desired. The science/math teacher for fifth grade responds when she feels like it. There have been times that I have messaged her about things concerning my daughter and have never heard back from her. This is a good school, but it could use with a lot of improvement. I once had an IEP meeting cancelled two hours before hand by the principal because he could not be there. When the principal did show up to the next IEP meeting, he was late, sat on his phone the entire time and left early. The communication of the school could use improvement as well.

I just graduated from this school as part of the first eighth grade class. Being a part of this school, I’ve learned so many valuable lessons and have come to enjoy every subject. The staff is the best part. There’s not one teacher who doesn’t care about their students’ education and you are greeted with friendly faces the moment you walk in. You will not regret sending your child here.

Because of the small size of the school, the staff are really able to make necessary adaptations for any and all students.

My kids came here from our district school. Mr. Rossiter fights hard to make sure transportation is provided for them thru the Boe. TIMA is determined to be the best and it shows thru the kids, the staff, and all of the supporters.

What a wonderful school!!!!! We moved to Savannah from Prince William County, VA and I was hesitant about the schools here. I have been beyond pleased with the curriculum and the teachers encouraging my children to move ahead at their own. There are no true text books, but they are not lacking for education. They do several field trips and seek out groups to come to the school to educate the students. Low student to teacher ratio about 16-18:1. The staff is a text message or email away and the principal is prompt at addressing matters and ensuring that the kids are well taken care of. At the information session when I was looking into the school, Mr. Rossiter stated that his job as principal is made easier by hiring excellent teachers, and he has achieved that. The teachers are pursuing their own goals/studies to improve their teaching even more. My 2nd grader's class is working on a project with SCAD (college students) to build machines. They study local ecology by going to marshes. They have art and recess on the beach! The community LOVES the school and is very supportive of fundraisers. I am beyond pleased with this school.

The teachers, school staff and principal are incredible at making this a wonderful, thriving environment for children of all learning styles.

My husband and I are so grateful to have our daughter at T.I.M.A.. She is in the 1st grade and is so excited to go to school everyday. The teachers, staff, principal and parent involvement is HUGE! Also, Tybee Island really supports this school. Our 16 & 13 year old sons wish T.I.M.A. was around when they were younger. We'd recommended this school to anyone. Classes on the beach 2x a week is one of our daughter's favorite classes!

My son is in Kindergarten here and loves it. The teachers and principal are great. I can't believe we are able to have such a wonderful elementary experience in a PUBLIC charter school. We looked and couldn't find an alternative that was comparable.

TIMA is a great school. I was very worried about moving my kids from their school into TIMA when they open the doors for the first time, but I am glad I did. It was the best thing that I did for them. They have learned so much and have experienced things at TIMA that they would never have had at their other school. I feel so comfortable knowing that my kids are in the hands of loving and caring staff. TIMA has a great communication with the parents about what is going on all the time. If you are thinking about moving kids to TIMA, I promise you will not regret it!

Tybee Island Maritime Academy is a wonderful school. We have a wide age range of 5 children and TIMA is our 3rd elementary school. The project based learning keeps our daughter excited about school. They take her to see and experience things she's learning about rather than just reading about it. Work sheets supplement her education rather than be the primary focus. I highly recommend this school.
