I sent my kids to this school one of them very smart and gifted, and the other not so gifted. The gifted one went there for 3.5 years and the reason why is because he was getting death threats from many students and one parent because he asked a question. This school is absolutely terrible and would not recommend it.

I removed my daughter from this school last year and couldnt be happier that we made the move to switch schools. Once we moved to the new school I realized how behind my daughter was for her grade level. Be aware that the language teachers do not have to be certified and in my experience some of them did not have much experience in education. Overall, I feel that it was a waste of a few years at Globe and I do not recommend the school. I think the lottery makes parents eager to get in but overall the school lacks a lot of instruction needed for a child to get a quality education.

We had two children at this school. One is gifted and one has learning challenges. While some individual teachers were wonderful on working with IEPs, the administration here is outright defiant of accommodating students with any type of challenge, even a mild one. If your student is struggling, Id recommend finding a new school because it does not get better. Most students are getting tons of outside tutoring in the language or in math to keep up with normal learning standards.

The Globa Academy is a marvelous school offering full dual language immersion in Spanish, French, or Mandarin between K-5th grade. It celebrates students of different cultures and backgrounds. The teachers love the students and support them through the challenge of learning science and math in a non-English language. I cannot recommend this school highly enough!

Best overall school I have ever encountered. 20 years experience teaching in wonderful private schools in Atlanta, and had been hearing really amazing things about GLOBE for years from different fronts. Old colleagues leaving my former school to teach at GLOBE, entering the lottery as parents and hoping their kids would be one of the lucky accepted students, talking to students themselves whod once gone to the school I was working at and asking them how theyre liking their experience at GLOBE I was hearing things you expect to hear from schools who are charging $30,000 in tuition each year because thats what the expectation is in that sector of education. But never had I known of a free option for such high quality educational experience (be it for a family, a child or a staff member). This is by far, THE most well balanced, robust, effective, supportive, positive, student (each and every individual student) focused educational experience that Ive ever witnessed or been privileged to partner with. As a newcomer to the school this year, I have never felt more warmly welcomed by staff, families and students. Teachers, families, and even students here work together to support one another and there is room for everyone to shine in their own way as well as collectively.
Oh and their music program is the best Ive ever encountered.
And their sports teams consistently kicked my most recent former schools tail in literally everything last year, so that was definitely something of notice as well.
All of this, and this school is just turning TEN years old this year!
My other experiences were with 50 and 53 years old respectively.

My daughter attended Globe Academy from Kindergarten through 7 grade. The first 4 years were awesome because of the language immersion (alternating days of English and foreign language) and communication with the teachers was consistent. However, we started realizing that this school wasn't concentrating on spelling and reading because our daughter was showing signs of falling behind so we started after-school tutoring, which helped.

5th & 6th grade (pandemic/ online school) is when everyone checked out, students and teachers. Some teachers followed up on missing online assignments, but most just stopped communicating with us. We felt like the staff's motto was 'if you get it, great; if you don't, oh well" Also, the language immersion schedule changed from alternating entire days to only 1 hour per day so needless to say, progress slowed.

7th Grade- academic and emotional support from the staff is poor. Again, we had great communication with a few teachers but the majority of the staff was non-responsive to emails and when we had online meetings, they were rushed and basically "oh well gotta go"

Then at the end of the year, the head of the school tells the class that they were the worst class at Globe Academy ever. The staff denies it but all of our daughter's friends and their parents confirmed, verbatim, that she said that to them. This is when we decided not to return to Globe even though it was her last year anyway.

I will regret sending my child to this school. Language immersion is a great idea and I recommend it; however, it should add to the process of learning not supersede or replace other priorities in the learning process.

I would not recommend Globe Academy.

My kids have had an amazing experience at Globe so far. The teachers genuinely care so much about each individual child. What I value the most about Globe is not just the sense of community you feel with all the other amazing families, but also the constant communication about our children's days (what they are learning, upcoming activities, etc.) My children love going to school each day - It's truly amazing to see how hard the staff and teachers work to bring this feeling of joy.

Both my kids went to Globe, one from K-2 and the other started in 6th and left midway through the year in 7th. The school is great if you fit in their narrow mold of what students should be. But I wouldn't recommend it to anybody who even has mild neuro divergence. I had concerns about my younger child's success from the very beginning. I brought it up repeatedly with teachers and administration and was repeatedly told that everything was fine for a couple years. Then one month before the end of her second grade year, I was told that they did not do any work the entire year unless somebody sat and work with them one-on-one. My child was getting in trouble repeatedly for needing to be given directions more than one time and for having trouble staying in their seat. I had been to every parent-teacher conference and this was not brought up until the end of second grade. Nobody thought to test my kid for ADHD. I immediately got them private testing and they tested as having high level ADHD. My other child started in Middle School. They had a lot of anxiety, but teachers have been very understanding in their previous School. Many of the teachers at globe were extremely harsh with my child when they became overly anxious, which caused them to become even more anxious. I asked if I could discuss with the counselor to get a 504 plan so that my child could have accommodations for their anxiety. I was told they would need a diagnosis first. I went to the doctor and had them officially diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder. I brought this to the counselor and was told "I don't believe your child actually has an anxiety disorder, they just need to work on their self-confidence.". They continued to refuse a 504 plan. My child's anxiety spiraled and they begin to have severe, disabling OCD. They would rock and stim (usually jiggling a leg or some mild hand flapping) in class when anxious, and the teachers would often yell at them for being too distracted by rocking or stimming. We have since found out they have mild autism, and they stim as a way of coping with anxiety. But at globe they were often sent out into the hall for entire class periods because their stimming was deemed "disrespectful". This was a kid who previously got straight A's and they were suddenly failing classes. I took them out of Globe halfway through 7th grade because it was harming them both emotionally and physically - they are in another school now and doing great.

We have been really happy with our family's experience at Globe so far. The teachers have been excellent and very caring, and they send lots of updates about everything they are learning. Our daughter used to ask us to only speak in English, but since starting Globe she is so much more excited about learning Spanish and is willing to try to speak it at home. She's making a lot of progress with her reading, math, and other subject knowledge as well. The school staff has been very friendly and helpful with answering any questions.

Over time this school has lost some of its shine. We were at GLOBE for about 6 years. In my humble opinion, it has gotten a little big for its britches, ie, the administration and many of the families are full themselves and tend to think too highly of themselves. (I also agree with previous reviews about harmful discipline practices.)

The administration in particular is inaccessible and condescending. They also have terrible communication skills, ie, they treat parents like they're a nuisance. The school also has a culture that reminds me of middle school and high school cliques--if you're not in the "in-group," you're treated like you're second class.

There is a very clear and distinct line between the administration/faculty and the parents. Rather than a cooperative and collaborative culture between admin/faculty and parents, there is a culture of opposition and condescension fostered by the administration. Furthermore, the administration does NOT value or appreciate parent feedback or volunteers (and yet they require parents to volunteer 10 hours a year). After pouring hours upon hours of volunteer time into the school, they treated our family as though we were an annoyance and as though we just needed to sit down and do as we were told.

This school has a lofty mission and vision, but they have such a long way to go before even approaching the fulfillment of that mission and vision. I am doubtful that things will improve, because in the years that we were there, nothing really ever changed or got better. Instead, things just continued to become less accessible and less equitable. They have the "appearance" of looking equitable. But in reality they're just checking boxes and not actually making any true steps toward equity or collaboration.

I hate to say it, but honestly, I would not recommend this school to anyone I know, because of the experience we had as a family. There are a few good teachers, but there is still such a clear chasm between administration/faculty and families/students/parents. As students and parents, you constantly feel as though you're having to prove that you deserve to be at the school, and prove that you deserve to have a voice in the way the school operates. They create a culture that makes parents feel like they just need to shut-up and be happy and thankful they're there. Because the pickings are so slim in Georgia, I think this school has an inflated view of itself and thinks it's better than it actually is.

Globe Academy is an unsafe environment for any child who is an independent thinker. The teachers retaliate against students when teacher misconduct is reported. Teachers use isolation and neglect to target those students and discourage reporting of harmful behavior. Teachers allow their personal relationships with parents to cloud their objectivity in the classroom. A teacher and nurse went as far as to failing to report a head injury that occurred in the morning to a parent until the end of the school day. This head injury ended up being a concussion.

Teachers and administration need unconscious bias training and need to be held accountable for leveraging harmful methods to retaliate against students.

This school has inflicted serious emotional and mental damage to a child in my family by treating them as less than human. I would strongly advise against sending any child you care about to Globe Academy.

This is my last year at the GLOBE Academy, and my experience has been terrible. I've been at GLOBE since second grade, and as the years progressed, it has gotten worse. Teachers are extremely biased when it comes to bullying and the consequences of it. Many teachers don't give homework at all, while others give extreme loads of it. Over the years, I have found five teachers that I could truly trust. The students have made extremely racist comments and claimed it was a "joke." It has come to the point where I am counting down how many days until I leave GLOBE.

Learning a new language has been incredible! However, I did not enjoy my experience that much. This is my 6th year at globe(3-8). The teachers were alright and many of them really do want to help the students succeed. Although some were not a student favorite AT ALL! The students however is what made me want to leave. The main policy at this school is no bullying, but lots of kids that were in my grade and werent in my grade were rude and I always felt the need to act like someone else. Lord of unnecessary drama that wasnt handled properly. Out school is small and the playground for upper campus is a parking lot. The field trips were fun and a great experience, but I wont miss the school.

This school is amazing!!! Both of our daughters are speaking Spanish very well! They are both excelling academically! I would highly recommend this school to anyone who likes language immersion. Love the diversity, the programs and all the different cultures children are exposed to. Great families and wonderful kids!

On paper the school looked like it would be a good fit for our daughter. She attended here for several years but we withdrew her in frustration with the lack of leadership from the administration or caring from her teachers. They act like if you are struggling they would prefer you withdrawal so they don't have to deal with it. Stinks of academic discrimination. We regret leaving her enrolled as long as we did. I feel like she's far behind where she should be for her grade. They're teaching model did not work for us. I would consider other options if available. The fundraising is also a top priority for them. If you're unable to afford or make donations regularly you will soon find you are not welcome.

If your child has an IEP and needs extra support in the la class you will be told that they dont have to make any changes to support your student. Many family have left the school for this reason.

In the lower grades it would be nice if the students had at least a little homework daily... mainly so parents can see what their children are working on in class and be able to better support them.

The school provides very little to no homework. Initially, I agreed with that approach. However, I am now finding that the school has significant gaps in education when compared to other schools in the area. They appear to attribute this to the language component. However, that is unacceptable given that these children will eventually need to assimilate into other schools, and society in general. The school should highlight these areas and provide resources to parents to help us effectively supplement the areas of focus that are children are not getting.

We've had good and not so great teachers. One teacher in particular is known for not enforcing the language she is supposed to be having the kids learn and speak which is highly disappointing. This needs to be addressed.

The school has had several teachers and families leave tied to issues that the leadership has not once openly come out and addressed. This is causing the rumor mill to be rampant and possibly false. Apparently, the only way to get leadership to address anything is to have it go to the news.

Not much homework to speak of in K-2nd (for my daughter in Spanish track at least). This is appropriate, I feel, as the kids are too young in K and 1, really. Teachers do the teaching and reinforcing in the classrom instead of expecting parents to do it with worksheets and the like in the evenings.

Been here three years and love it. We've had a couple of less-effective teachers but it's tough to know how much of that is my kid vs the teacher. Time will tell. But I did want to say that GreatSchools reports this as a 20:1 student to teacher ratio. This is not at all the case because every class has a TA to support the lead teacher. This makes the ratio really 10:1 - something you really only find at private schools. This is one of our favorite benefits of GLOBE. We also love how Community, Respect, Emphaty, Sustainability, and Trust are reinforced with the kids to really educate the whole child. Love this place!

Excellent experience so far! My son is in the 1st grade and our family feels right at home in the GLOBE community. It truly is a community! The bonus is that our child is learning in two languages, so he's picking up an invaluable skill along the way. Such an awesome school, we are so grateful to be part of it!

We left the school after our first year as it was not a fit for our family. The school's change in mission and direction left us a bit confused. Parents micromanage too much and was not for us. Always in the classrooms, and popping in throughout the day. The loudest parents seem to get the attention and are listened to, so unfortunately the issues we had were not going to be helped with in a timely manner. The school does work for many families but sadly just not for us.

Having 2 kids who have attended The GLOBE Academy over the past 3 years, I have to say, this school rocks! One child has dyslexia/ADHD/processing problems, and The GLOBE has gone over and beyond to accommodate. The LD diagnosis's happened while attending The GLOBE. The school counselor & supporting staff took the initiative to begin the necessary interventions and provide appropriate help throughout the entire process. I cannot say enough good things about this for anyone hesitant to do a language immersion school with a child who has learning challenges. Additionally, the sense of community at The GLOBE Academy is something you will NOT get at other area schools! Plus, your child is exposed to a 2nd language in an immersed setting. This school really is doing all the right things to make it truly special! My 3rd child will also attend The GLOBE Academy, and I know this is the best decision for their future!

GLOBE is a very unique school with a dedicated community of Parents and teachers. There are some wonderful teachers & families at GLOBE, however, the school itself needs improvements. Unfortunately my child didn't thrive at GLOBE due to his Dyslexia. I think this is due to the fact that each team of teachers in each track is responsible for teaching 44-46 students. This doesn't work well if a child needs more individualized attention. Each class size might seem small, but they really aren't. if you put yourself in the teacher's shoes, they are responsible for the entire track of students each day. That's a lot. In addition to immersion, GLOBE is suppose to practice constructivism & Positive discipline, but we didn't see any evidence of that, which was disappointing. Perhaps it was just our track? The immersion education was great, and I did see kids blossom in that area, but everything else sort of fell short for us because my Child needed extra help academically. I think this is a wonderful school for heritage speakers, or kids who excel academically, this was not the case for us. I wish GLOBE was more inclusive with different learning styles. We know lots of families with kids who thrive and excel at GLOBE. Socially, I give the school 5 stars. Academically, It's hard to rate because it's a very specific rigorous curriculum, and if you don't fit within the box, then it will be a struggle, like it was for us.

GLOBE Academy is language-immersion public charter school full of passionate parents, great leadership, and caring teachers. It is grades K - 6, currently, and will eventually go through 8th grade. It currently has 2 campuses (K-3, and 4-6). My son has been here for 2 years. What I like about the school is the language immersion, low student-teacher ratios, global perspective, and committed families. What I do not like is that homework is sporadic (none for weeks at a time, then several projects all at once) and that they school is not well-equipped to manage the needs of either special needs or gifted students. There is a good variety of after-school activities, and wonderful outdoor space on the lower campus. If you prefer traditional grading systems and curriculum, this is not the school for your family. If you prefer a diverse and progressive academic experience for your children, then sign up for the GLOBE lottery!
