The only reason I rate this school with 2 stars is because when we moved to the area back in 2016 it really was an excellent school, offering quality education and healthy environment for the kids. We got lucky having that for our older child. Not so much now with the younger one. Since the old principal moved to RHHS, there is a drastic decline in education quality. Good teachers with experience are few and far in between. Bullying is ever present - from both teachers and other children. Kids are "punished" by methods that seem to be taken right out of Medieval Times. Running laps in the scorching heat, eating lunch in the hallways, endless repetition for the entire class if one kid is not paying attention, name it, it is probably done. We are talking about very young children here. How is this in any shape or form formative, educational or teaches anything to a 6 year old? We are talking about negligible infractions like asking to borrow a pencil from a classmate. Homework has been non-existent from first to third grade. Inadequate or complete lack of feedback. If you don't spend time with your child at home to teach them to read for example, you can forget they will learn in the classroom without attending additional classes. Teachers are hired right out of college, inexperienced, sharing personal inappropriate information with the kids on regular basis. Kids are yelled at and harshly disciplined by teachers who do not understand the concept of education and treat the classroom as a personal space instead of a place where they have the ultimate power to shape kids minds. The school is going from bad to worse and the principal doesn't seem to have a grasp on how to improve current conditions. If you can send you child to a private school, this may be a better choice.

We are extremely happy with the school. Our children go happily, enjoy a very engaging educational approach, as opposed to previous school in which the students were much more passive in the learning process. Teachers come with enthusiasm and that is very noticeable. When needed, they help with additional support in specific subjects according to students needs. In particular we enjoyed a great ESOL program, and additional English support when needed. The academic level is great, the kids experience useful tools and learn meaningful knowledge, in great atmosphere.

Couldn't be happier with McAllister. Due to moving, my children have been in multiple schools through out elementary and our experience has been that McAllister tops them all. The teachers love on the students like they're their own children. They take the time to actually know each student and saw multiple teachers even go to sporting events outside of school. My children had the opportunity to join clubs there and had never been bullied, unlike at other schools they attended prior to McAllister. The admin is also very understanding and involved.

After having a child enrolled in Chatham County I can say this school is one of a kind. All students here are loved, happy, safe, and being educated to a high level of rigor.

Please read the three-star review, I completely agree with the parent's review, yes that is right, you will find teachers who bully in this school. Neither the upper administration nor the teachers are properly trained on how to communicate with the parents. Please keep this in mind the teacher and upper administration will never go above and beyond, that's a blatant lie.

This school has a culture and history of treating special education kids and their parents unfairly. Please think and research 100 times before choosing this as a school for your kids.

Mixed. We moved to the area years ago because all we heard from everyone was how good the Richmond Hill schools were. That was when this school was rated a 9. Here we are 4 years later and this school has dropped to a 7 which doesn't surprise me. If this school year is like the previous for my children, we might look into home schooling.

Homework load seems to be average, but in some instances, there are physical reprimands for not completing assignments. Example, reading logs not completed so entire class has to run laps at recess. Yes, this is a thing at this school. The staff here needs to understand that these are elementary school aged children. These should be the best years of their schooling and children should look forward to attending school.

While this school does have some very good teachers, they are few and far between. Many of the teachers are hired on straight out of college and have no professional experience.

Character traits are indeed taught at the school.

Leadership comes from experience and the Principal has maybe a handful of years. Interpret that how you will.
Posted: January 7, 2020
The school does offer "inclusion" classes which is a great thing if your child can benefit from that. Not so great for the other children.

Bullying is ever present at this school. From both students and teachers. Yes, even teachers.
