Whatever you do, dont send your child to FAST. Your child will be severely behind if you send them here and you will have an awful experience with the Data Clerk. The Data Clerk never responds to emails and ignores you (the parent) when you try to speak with her. Also - this place is awful for a childs ability to play. Your child will not have a gymnasium for PE, they wont even have actual grass or a track or a basketball court to play on. They have turf thats in an open area so its not secure, theres a ton of dirt and clay which means bugs and bug bites on your kids legs. The younger children dont even get to use the amazing playground that faces the street. If youre looking for administration who are responsive, respectful, and kind, this is not the school for you. The principal is not inclusive of all teachers, parents, and families. So many families left FAST last year because of their awful experience with the data clerk and principal. Save yourself the headache!

I want to begin by acknowledging that, in my experience, the school has a handful of exceptional teachers who are clearly overworked and doing their best under challenging circumstances. However, based on my experience, I also have several concerns about the learning environment.

I found classroom management to be inconsistent, and I observed situations in which teachers raised their voices while attempting to manage student behavior. In my experience, communication with families was also inconsistent, which made it difficult for me to stay informed. The school sometimes appeared disorganized internally, which, from my perspective, affected daily operations and the overall experience for students and families.

I also felt that students spent a significant amount of time on computers, and there were times when I observed students playing games rather than engaging in what I considered meaningful, academically focused instruction. I also had concerns about accountability and the consistency of discipline. Based on what I personally observed, I felt that some students appeared to be disciplined more severely than others for situations that, from my perspective, did not seem to warrant such differences in treatment.

One of my MOST serious concerns involved confidentiality. Based on my personal experience, I believe information regarding my student and me was discussed by a member of the administration with another parent who was not my student's guardian. I found this deeply concerning and felt that it negatively affected my family.

Most concerning to me, the academic standards did not meet my expectations, and I did not feel that my student was adequately challenged academically.

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this school to other families. I also question whether the school, in my experience, is effectively meeting the educational and organizational standards I would expect from a school serving students and families in the community.

The school was very crowded, communication was terrible, and I felt the teacher was too busy to keep parents informed on time about events and the academic program. Academically, my child was behind compared with programs in other schools, especially in math. The place is so crowded and small that children have very little space to be outside and are not allowed to run or do what kids usually should do during recess or outside time. According to my child, teachers were always angry and grumpy, and I do not blame them, because the school feels disorganized and messy inside..

I will echo what a previous review said. If your child is an advanced or accelerated learned this is not the school for them. Our daughter is an accelerated learner for both math and language arts as well as in the TAG program. FAST touts themselves as having an advanced curriculum, this is not true. The "on level" curriculum is at least 1 year behind, I can only assume this is done to help increase test scores and, to appear that the school performs well.
The accelerated classes that are supposed to be 1 grade level ahead are not. If you just want to send your child to school for the sake of saying they attend a STEM school then this is your school . If you have a high achiever and they need to be challenged and provided opportunities to go above and beyond, i would look elsewhere. We ended up going back to our zoned school which provided significantly better opportunities for the accelerated and TAG programs.

Very poor communication between teachers, parents and students. I was nervous about the qualifications of the teachers when we went to the sneak peek. But I trusted in what the school promised-which was to challenge students and help them grow academically. I would encourage parents who have strong learners who require challenging curriculum to go elsewhere. ASK QUESTIONS! Why has this school turned off the community's abilities to leave a google review?
My daughter has always been a "proficient learner" on her milestones testing. Her first and only year at FAST she tested "below" or "approaching target" on her math milestones. We now have her in private tutoring to catch her up on the standards that FAST should have taught her. We begged the math teacher for more challenging content- to which she promised but never delivered. She graduated with a 97% in math but was below the state average on her milestone scores.

The class sizes are HUGE. DO NOT believe them when they say the ratio is 13:1. This is a bold face lie. My daughter had 29 students in her ELA class. The teachers would openly say they could not control the class room with that many students in it.

Ultimately the teachers boast a challenging and out of the box approach to learning. But what we found is the curriculum is so watered down it gives the illusion that students are acceling- even though they are barely learning.

The innovation projects are not worked on the entire year. It is a last minute cram to get them done which was extremely stressful.

I hope Fulton County will reconsider funding for a school like this. It really misleads parents into thinking that this school is superior to the school you are already districted for. Let me tell you loudly from the rooftops- it is not. As parents we want to do what is best for our children and often hindsight shows us which path was the best one to take. I hope you will head my advice that unless you have no other option- do not send your children to this school.

My son had an amazing experience in kindergarten this year. His teachers Mrs. Jones & Mrs. Carrington were great! My son loved them and they treated him so well he is always going to remember his time in kindergarten. They were always very communicative with me as his parent and kept me involved with whatever he had going on in school. They were a blessing & I would trust all my future children with them as well!

We had the wonderful opportunity to have Mrs. Jones as my childs kindergarten teacher both last year and this year, and I couldnt be more grateful. She has been an incredible part of our early school experience, showing unwavering patience, kindness, and dedication every single day.

Mrs. Jones creates a classroom environment that is both nurturing and engaging. She knows how to make learning fun while also helping each child feel seen, supported, and confident. Her communication with parents is thoughtful and consistent, always keeping us in the loop and involved in our childrens growth.

Having had her two years in a row has been a true blessing. My child looks forward to school every day because of her, and Ive seen such positive growth both academically and socially. Mrs. Jones is the kind of teacher every parent hopes their child will have.

We just finished our first year at FAST and could not have asked for a better experience. My kindergartner continued to grow throughout the year, both scholastically and emotionally. My child loved the different classes provided at FAST, between innovation, art, music, and others. But their favorite part was that they get TWO recesses each day compared to the one that most other schools give. Another thing we love about FAST is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and they enjoy having parent volunteers get involved. Lastly, I have to shout out Mrs. Jones, my child's teacher. She is truly a gem and has a special place in my child's heart forever. Her ability to show patience, kindness, and silliness while also getting all the kids to listen and learn is top notch. Mrs. Jones is the best and contributed to our love of FAST!

Mrs. Jones is an excellent teacher. My son switched to her class in February; he improved tremendously for the short time she had him in her class.

She is a very patient, kind, and loving person. She has the soft skills every teacher should have. My son loves her so much that he asked her to be his 1st grade teacher. I highly recommend her and Mrs. Carrington to anyone. They are the best kindergarten teachers this school has. I was worried if my son would be ready for 1st; thanks to Mrs. Jones, he is.

This school sucks do not go here this school lies about a lot. genus hour more like genus 5 minutes. They teach you nothing about science. And even worse dont get in here in 5th grade. It is the most drama Ive ever seen.

I have two kids at this school- after moving from our zoned school - our kids have never been happier! The teachers cater to the needs of each individual student. If your kid is a bit of a nerd this is the school for them! My 4th grader finally feels challenged at school, has found his tribe and he is thriving. The school has made big changes in the last year and its showing with rave reviews from parents and the kids. I also love the community - as a working mom, the communication is next level and parents support one another. Everyone including the principal knows my kids by name and what their passions are - so it has that small school feel. Highly recommend.

This school has a lot of potential, but falls short on almost every front. There are some AMAZING teachers, please note this. The big problem is they don't tend to stick around.

-Staffing has been a serious issue, with teachers resigning en masse between school years, and even more quitting after the year began.
-Experiment with new principal was a failure, who "resigned" during the year. New principal is nice but TBD on how it works out.
-Far too many teachers were not the "best of the bunch," but rather "ones that would accept the job," and it shows. Many are not responsive to communications, and there is a LOT of time focused on things unrelated to curriculum.
-Bullying and bad behavior is a legitimate issue that is handled poorly or ignored.
-Focus on diversity is over the top, from a 7 to 1 weighted lottery opportunity for minorities, to the actual experience in the school. Serving as a magnet for minorities does not create a diverse learning environment, it simply creates an enclave that doesn't mirror society at all.
-The facility is a problem in itself. You can look past it when the education is strong, but when it's weak, you can't overlook the crazy carpool, crowded classrooms, kids literally playing in the parking lot, not enough playground space, catered-in lunches that are eaten in classroom, and so on.
-Many kids were pulled out during the school year, and based on talking to parents, quite a few are not returning or considering not returning.

-This is just a short list to help anyone considering FAST, but also to help guide the admin, hopefully. We will not be returning for the next school year. I cannot advise anyone to consider this school currently. This place used to be great. It could be great again, but it will take some effort. If you consider this school, please visit and ask a LOT of questions before making a decision (assuming you are selected in the lottery).

I am a student in 7th grade. The way students treat each other is appalling. The teachers make fake promises. 2 projects are given a week. So teachers don't even teach!! They give you a packet and explain one question. The staff are nice but they are underqualified and some have a language barrier. Most days there is someone is crying in the bathroom either from being overworked or from being bullied. Schedules are mixed up at the beginning of the year and the schedule changes frequently. Teachers do not know how to take control of a classroom. Topics are rushed in which half the class doesn't know what we are learning. The trailers, which are used as classrooms, get flooded often. There is no equality in this school. White students get away with everything in the book, whereas students of different nationalities get worse punishments. Innovation and SEL are forced on students as core classes. SEL includes controversial topics such as LGBTQ+ propaganda, gender-focused topics, and racial appropriation. SEL makes mental health seem one-sided. Students who have ADHD and autism aren't given enough instruction and are yelled at for their actions instead of being pulled aside.

FAST has been a wonderful experience for my children. I have 3 kids there and my oldest has been here for 4 years. They create an academically challenging environment but still offer kindness and support to the children and they teach the children to become good humans as well.

I recently pulled my kindergartner out of FAST. Several red flags to begin with. Year started severely understaffed, teachers resigned within first couple of months, then the newly hired principal resigned. The main reason I pulled my daughter out is because of their complete lack of concern after they lost her one day. I arrived at the school that afternoon to pick her up after school and was told point blank that they hadn't seen her and didn't know where she was. It's a parent's worst nightmare. You would think that when a FAST administrator and teachers realized a 5 year old student was missing, there would be some sense of urgency but there wasn't. Instead, the teachers, including the administrator, carried on with their after school classes, as if the situation wasn't an emergency. Only two teachers, after seeing me in distress, came to my aid. About twenty minutes passed while searching the entire school for my daughter. We approached the administrator again in hopes that he would help us but he appeared to become increasingly annoyed with me as he was with a group of students for a sports class. He shrugged his shoulders and suggested that maybe my daughter got on the school bus and that I would have to wait for the bus to return to the school to see if she was actually on it. He didn't have an answer when I asked how a 5 year old student who carpools everyday managed to get on the school bus without anyone noticing. I was growing impatient and ready to call the police when the bus driver finally called back to confirm that she was on the bus. I'm incredibly lucky my 5 year old was returned safely because the entire time she was on the bus the bus driver didn't even realize that my daughter wasn't supposed to be there, she even got off the bus at one of the stops to look for mom/dad. I realized that day, FAST doesn't have any protocols in place for an emergent situation like this. They most definitely do not have an efficient process of getting the students from class to the bus/carpool. Carpool is usually chaotic with barely any space for the cars and all the kids hanging out on the front lawn as their names are being screamed into a megaphone when the parent pulls up to the curb. The worst part of this situation is that I emailed the interim principal that night and also called the school the next day to discuss what happened and still haven't heard back from anyone. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time even considering this school.

They have a nice looking website, but that's about it. Most teachers couldn't get jobs elsewhere, and are subpar. High teacher turnover every year. The good teachers never stay. Read in the news about the former science teacher. There is more emphasis on indoctrination on social issues than in math and science. Technology teacher had middle school class play video games instead of teaching because "they're a part of our every day life." The administrators lock up all the playground equipment because "it's an eye sore" or "the bouncing balls are too disruptive (to the administrators)." Covid policies were far more extreme than the rest of Fulton County. Serious behavior problems, including destruction of property and bullying, stay unaddressed. School teaches to the lowest common denominator and does not encourage students to excel.

I attended FAST and I can tell you to save yourself the trouble of going to this awful school. All this school will teach your kid is how to get bullied in high school. Having small grades with much less kids than a traditional middle school seems beneficial, but instead will be a burden once your child must be in a larger high school. I am currently in 9th grade and hated fast while I attended it, and there are truly on two good things about the school. One was the people I met, many of which I am still friends with, and the other was having recess in 6th-8th grade. The school had many issues while I was there. The first and most major problem was the lack of funding. The school had very little money and is quite literally built out of an old church. When the school started, I was in 4th grade and they promised us a gym by 6th grade, which they never ended up doing. The cafeteria would routinely flood after rainstorms and many teachers seemed unqualified and unprofessional. The school went through 4 principles in the 5 years I was there, and at least 2 other employees from the school have been arrested, both being arrested at different schools after fast fired them rather then look into the issues. I knew a kid who actually got bullied into leaving the school, and whenever their parents tried to ask the school about it they basically said there was nothing they could do. It may claim to be a stem school but its not. The only stem thing they have is innovation which they changed the format of every year and it is still unorganized and an enormous waste of time. The school got me and many of my friends behind in foreign language because they would not offer it until we were in 8th grade. Instead, they offered coding where they taught us the same content year after year with different teachers who knew less about coding then some of the students. This school is terrible please don't endorse it by sending your kid here. Your kid may not have a bad experience at this school, but just send them to a normal middle school, trust me, actually knowing the people at your home high school will be much better than whatever 'experience' you think fast will get you. Fast needs to be shut down, it has no high school to branch into, so if you start fast in kindergarten, you will really know no one when youre a freshman. Fast offers zero benefits and can only make your kids life harder, don't do this to them.

I was a student here for almost three years for middle school, loved it my first two years there were some great teachers. I actually wanted to go to school. But throughout my sixth grade year, there was obvious favoritism between admin and a student. I was friends with them for maybe my first 2 months and then they just cut me off, and so I found a new group of friends. I got in trouble for apparently being "mean" to them after we had mutually decided to not be friends anymore. Later on the year something else happened and they threatened me with suspension even though it was not my fault for anything, it was harmless. Seventh grade was great, there was a few bumps with people being rude to each other but overall a good year. Also, the coding teachers at FAST for seventh grade that I had was HORRIBLE, I hated coding and was desperate to go to Spanish. Then COVID happened. I know it was not anyone's fault, and it was hard to get everyone to learn in a digital setting. But in eighth grade, I had the option to do coding or Spanish and so I picked Spanish, what was not made clear is that you had to do BOTH coding and Spanish. Also, they never gave me my high school language credit for 6th and 7th, so now I am struggling to get those. But in 8th grade, we were supposed to go back in November, but then they changed their mind with a board meeting. My parents had gone on the meeting and expressed their concerns because none of my friends and I were learning and we hadn't seen each other for almost 7 months. Soon, one by one because of this decision my friends left. By the end of the semester, I had 3 friends in my friend group left, and I made the ultimate decision to change schools for a semester. I am very behind on Spanish and the only thing that was taught to a high level was math. My science teacher for 8th was horrible we were on the same unit for almost the whole semester and was not giving us resources. Teachers would yell at us even if we looked a tad bit down. Once, my mom had called me during school and I had said to a teacher I need to turn off my camera so I can take the call privately and she said I couldn't, I left the meeting because she was so rude to me. Overall, I was stressed out for so long and was so unhappy in my own house that I learned absolutely nothing because of the teachers. One of the teachers showed our test grades to the whole class, and I felt like my boundaries were overstepped and parents were mad as well.
