My child is making significant academic progress since starting at Kindezi. The teachers are responsive, and it’s easy to schedule an IEP meeting.

Great family-oriented approach to genius (student) awakening. Small class size and 10:1 student to teacher ratio. The staff ensures the geniuses feel seen and heard in all aspects of learning and community. Sports for all students to enjoy, great after school programs and opportunities for enrichment for geniuses. Very pleased with our staff and the growth of my genius. The teachers adjusted the learning style and provided the additional instruction as needed. The staff is very engaged with the students and fosters a positive environment for growth. Test scores and academic success was achieved this past year and benchmarked for further testing goals. The staff provides support to parents with literacy programs to help parents understand how to help the geniuses at home with new ELA curriculum. The school is constantly providing support and resources for families to give the geniuses the best opportunities for success.

Let me give you all a RECENT review for 2023. This school is full of bad kids, bullying, poor leadership, horrible lack on consequences and then some. Falsify and lie on incident reports and fails parents. My 1st grade child has been slapped, punched in her privates, pushed to the ground, and more ! Incidents happening more than once with two kids in particular. I’ve met other parents with “like” problems.

My experience at this school is very challenging because I have 2 scholars attending O4W and the classroom environment can be overwhelming at time because other students would disrupt the class which results in my scholar having an emotional melt down due to the disruption and constant redirection in the classroom. Overall this is her second year and nothing about it so far is pleasant. I believe that they need structure, discipline and more importantly consequences for their bad behavior and I believe that this will solve all of the madness that goes on in the classroom that prevents learning which is supposed to be exciting for students especially during the middle school years experience. The teachers are doing their best but we have student’s who makes it difficult for other students especially the ones who are their to learn.

My oldest daughter started Kindezi O4W during the pandemic (2020) with virtual learning. She has thrived both during virtual learning and in person learning and has now started her third year at Kindezi O4W. I am very impressed with this school. I work at a local university, so good quality education is important to me. The teachers give their geniuses individually assigned tasks to further their strengths and work on those areas needing improvement. The teachers are in constant contacts with the parents and are genuinely enthusiastic about their jobs and the children they teach. The class sizes are small (14-20 kids: 2 teachers per class). I am so impressed that I am delighted that our younger daughter just started Kindergarten at Kindezi O4W as well. Both of our kids LOVE this school, and wake up in the mornings happy to go and learn and see their friends. And that is the most important aspect of it, right, kids enjoying to go to school and enjoying to learn.

My son has been attending Kindezi O4W since 3rd grade. He’s in the 8th grade and graduating this year. What I love the most about this school is the family atmosphere and their small class size (8 to 10 students per teacher). This model really worked well for the students and teachers. This model allows teachers to be more engaged with the students so their academics needs are met. I also like how well the teachers and administrators communicate with the parents. If I had any questions or concerns, an administrator would always follow back up to make sure my concerns were addressed. The staff are very professional and they care about the students.

I wish the school had a high school. I also would like to see more extra curricular activities similar to what you find in the traditional public school.

However, I still believe Kindezi O4W was the best school for my son.

I have two middle schoolers at O4W. They are supported, loved, heard, and valued by their teachers. My kids feel well paced academically. They are not under challenged or overly stressed and anxious as it pertains to their academic growth.
The admin is incredibly responsive to the varied needs of the students too. The school’s focus on holistic growth is evident in the intentional SEL curriculum as well as the strong stance on creating a safe space for lgbtqia+ students and staff.
O4W has had some events that sparked the need to policy and practice changes, but they thoughtfully responded to those issues and have come out stronger as a result.
“I feel community at Kindezi.” 6th grade O4W student
“My teachers motivate me with joy and honestly.” 6th grade student O4W

This school treats everyone like family. Adminstrators and teachers personally know your child and regularly interact with them. My daughter has grown in all facets of her development (even being virtual last year).
They are going through some "growing pains" since this is a fairly new school, but they have been transparent in their plans and I see positive steps towards an even better future.

We love this school. If you want your child to feel like they are part of a community and treated like a family this is the place for you. With small class sizes your kids are not lost in a crowd they are seen and heard. Our kids have thrived academically and feel supported when they need help.

In the five years here so far we have watched the school grow. They listen to concerns of both staff and families. The pandemic was handled with such grace, during absolute chaos they went beyond expectations to make everyone feel safe, informed and supported. There is quick and easy communication with staff. Executive director Dr. Gunn has pushed the school forward and been informative during town hall meetings. Principal Free is dedicated to these kids, he greets them in the mornings, and is there to help at pick up, he has school spirit and has been a great leader. The classes and programs offered each year keep growing. We are proud to be part of this school and it’s mission….

Our mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and to do so with some passion some compassion some humor and some style!

I have two grandsons at Kindezi O4W Elementary and they love going to school because their teachers “make learning fun!”
As evidenced by their test scores, their academic growth has been exponential. However, there are no tests to measure their “personal” growth, which has been exemplary. I attribute this to the individualized love & attention focused on each’s child’s unique character. No longer are they in an educational environment that stunts personal growth by limiting children to operating within predetermined “boxes”. Kindezi operates on the premise that every child has a degree of genius in areas awaiting to be tapped, and the teachers propel them to soar. My grandsons are thriving both personally and academically. The right environment & teachers with the right mindsets have made a significant difference.

All of my children have attended Kindezi Old 4th Ward since they were in kindergarten, and I am beyond THRILLED with the education they are receiving there. Kindezi is truly a special place - my kids are EXCITED to go to school every day. The classrooms are small (an average of 8-10 students per teacher) and extremely diverse, which I absolutely LOVE. The school focuses on values such as collective responsibility, excellence, and love/compassion, and the teachers are some of the most caring, energetic, and creative individuals I've ever met. My children are socially and emotionally NURTURED , they are academically CHALLENGED, and they are learning so much more than reading, writing, and arithmetic - they are also learning how to be critical thinkers, bold leaders, and considerate human beings. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with my Kindezi experience!
