I absolutely love this school. The teachers and administrators are incredibly dedicated and present. My kid is thriving academically and feels so supported by his school community. The school promotes diverse academic spaces for students to grow in their capacities and I feel so lucky to part of the ICAG community. Highly recommend this school!

This is a lovely school if your child is nuerotypical and interested in learning the Japanese language. The staff are very nice. However, if your child has any support needs they cannot appropriately accommodate them. It says on their website that they accept any IEP. They do not have a special education department and outsource all therapies. They cannot provide all the services your child might need.

Mi hija estuvo en esta escuela al inicio del año escolar en su tercer grado lamentablemente por motivos de mudanzas tuvimos que cambiar de escuela está escuela para mí fue maravillosa a pesar del corto tiempo mi hija estuvo siempre entusiasmada en aprender Japonés y su maestra Mrs Harada Noriko fue muy amable y de gran apoyo para ella. Puedo decir que todos son amables y respetuosos y que tú hijo aquí aprenderá valores y en la actualidad eso es muy importante.

This is a fairly good school for those who have a very strong interest and dedication to learning the Japanese language, or for those who have Japanese heritage. If not, there are many cons that parents should carefully consider before deciding to send their children here. First, the classes are severely overcrowded, with 30+ kids in one small classroom to a teacher not uncommon. The school will continue to accept additional enrollments and grow classes, even when there are far too many students for one teacher to handle or engage. Second, there is a strong bias to heritage students, those who speak Japanese as a native language in their home. Standards are based on native level proficiency rather than based on Japanese as a second language. Teachers will flat out tell you that your non-Japanese child will never get an A in their Japanese classes no matter how hard they study, since they will never keep up with the native speaking students. The school allows students to enter the program at any grade, even with no prior experience. I would strongly not recommend any non-Japanese speaker enroll their child here unless they are starting in kindergarten. It will be impossible to catch up, they will struggle, and it will be at the expense of their English language skills. Many teachers do not hold teaching qualifications as they would at a non-charter school resulting in wildly varying quality of teaching. While there some amazing and wonderful teachers, there are also some unqualified ones who will really negatively impact your childs progress. Because so much time is spent on learning Japanese, you will need to supplement a lot at home to make sure your kid is on target for their English language skills, especially for reading and writing. Despite these cons, if you really want your kid to learn a little Japanese (dont expect them to be able to even hold a basic conversation after several years of study here), and you are willing to commit to it through 5th grade, I think you will have a decent experience. If youre thinking it would be fun to try for a year or two, dont. Your kid will just fall very very behind in their English reading and writing, and they wont be able to speak very much Japanese.

Ive been at this school since its opening . I am satisfied with all components beginning from the top down . The dual immersion model serves all students and have seen growth with students learning Japanese for the first time . The teachers organize flexible grouping to support students learning and differentiates instruction . The school has many events which incorporates the diversity that is represented at the school . Students enjoy the hands on experience they receive in the classroom . Honors assembly and concerts are another opportunity for parents to participate in their students learning . Overall , its a great school !

We love ICAG! My daughter is thriving in the dual language program and looks forward to go to school every day. This is an absolute gem of a school in our community. It is small, but we see that as an advantage, as there is a welcoming family feel. The office staff is so nice and helpful. The teachers and administration go above and beyond to make sure each student is reaching their academic potential while feeling fully supported and loved. We appreciate the rigorous Japanese math curriculum and the enriching multicultural environment.

Im going through something with this school right now where Ive started to ask more probing questions. The level of blatant dishonesty from school management & administration is truly appalling. Their inability to accept accountability and their sheer negligence towards our children is criminal. And because it starts at the top it trickles down. There are some caring teachers there but their professionalism doesnt override the internal tyranny of the administration over the staff. When Ive spoken to families that were smart and pulled their kids out of the school. Every single one has remarked on how their kids have thrived in their new schools compared to the crisis they were in at ICAG. I could go on and on about grievance after negligence after shortcomings after incompetence. Just trust me, this school should be your last stop.
