The school is great. They railroaded my BLACK child. Was her first time getting in trouble all she was doing was defending herself arrested her. Didn’t know she was at the jail until almost 2hrs later when received private call from jail which i usually don’t answer. The school never called me to inform me what was going on. School board is trash. Their steady pushing crossroads. They also lie a lot and act clueless

This school is pretty good. The staff is pretty chill and not as harsh as they used to be on the dress code. Teachers are really nice. The teachers care if your not doing well and try there best to help you! The staff are like hawks in the hallways. Watching our every move, and it’s kinda creepy. They have some pretty good programs that are very beneficial for the future. A lot of kids are fake and love to compete. When there’s nothing to compete about. There’s a lot of butt kissing when it comes to sports. The racism is pretty mid. They won’t be directly racist, but they will be secretly racist. It’s a pretty safe school. Nothing really happens when it comes to violence. There might be a fight or two here and there. Overall it’s pretty good school.

I love this school the teachers are very welcoming and friendly. Most of them make you feel like you are right at home even if you are a new student. I was that new student once and in my first couple weeks it was hard to make friends because I didn't know anyone but everyone was really nice and one year later I am friends with what I can say a lot of the school. The teachers really do care if you succeed a teacher that stands out to me is Mr. Eric Lind he is my favorite teacher I have ever had and he makes science easy to remember and fun and I am really glad to have him as a teacher. At this school, I see very little bullying. it's like everybody is one big family and I enjoy school throughout the day. Now the food could be a little better at times.

I’ve been bullied so many times for who I am at this school. I’ve never once had a teacher nor an administrator on my side and it’s gone to them many times.

My son has been challenged academically and thrived. He has good friends and teachers. No complaints.

South Effingham, as a student while learning I have analyzed the teachers and the education at this school. The first thing you have got to get past at this school are the people. The students especially. (The students think they are the Savannah arts academy/Calvary when in reality it's a public school.) The schools dress code is outrageous and interrupts class-time. The one thing I say though that I enjoy & makes it worth it are "some" of the teachers. I found a few teachers I conflicted with and probable due to my childish behavior in the past. Now I can definitely say that a few teachers really do care about your education. The teacher that stood out to me most though was Kristen Denney. She cares about her students as much as herself. Mrs. Denney is the most honest and helpful teacher i've encountered at this school. Jessica Lyons also is a teacher that is great. She handles classes very well and teachers 1 on 1 if needed. Coming for tutoring is not a big deal to her either. I have been to Effingham and I can say that the staff has no care towards the students as much as some of these teachers do. Like most, this is my preferred school; I also love the multitude of AP courses.

Excellent parent- teacher communication. Truly devoted to quality education. I have no doubt my children are getting prepared to succeed in college and beyond. Their homework workload far exceeds any other schools my children have attended.

The SEHS uniform policy is well written and easy to understand and posted on the school's website. It clearly states what is/is not acceptable. Any person writing comments here complaining about the policy and enforcement thereof must just have issues with reading comprehension or obeying rules they do not agree with. I have one child that has already graduated from SEHS and one currently attending. We moved from a neighboring county when my son's grades slipped and he was subjected to bullying on a daily basis. Neither concern were taken seriously before, but we have found the Effingham County school system collectively and effectively focus on learning, discipline, acheivement and communication. Our son repeatedly made honor roll after our move, he joined the SEHS Marching Mustangs band and was welcomed by his bandmates and worked harder than I ever thought possible because of the encouragement of his teachers/fellow classmates. My daughter was recognized as being "gifted" immediately after entering Effingham County and has been challenged by all of her GT and honors teachers. SEHS is a top-notch PUBLIC school that seems like it is private.

There is some truth to the postings. If you are not interested in following the rules, this is not a good school for you. Thankfully, most of the students do follow the rules. The teachers are exceptional. The English department is very strong, I am not quite as happy with the math department. The students are very focused and competitive. It is definitely like a private school, without the tuition payment

I have had two children graduate from this school. I cannot express the professionalism of the teachers and administrators. The teachers have high expectations and the majority of the students rise to the challenge. I also loved that the children were recognized in so many activities, not just athletes. The school has an awesome choral program, band, art, and technology. There is a strong focus on academics. The prinicpal is very engaged and knows all the students by name. There are just too many positives to mention!

My daughter was transferred to this school for the last part of her Junior year. We came from Newnan, Ga. I was SHOCKED at how backwards and predujiced this school is! My daughter doesnt fall into the cookie cutter mold of every other student, she enjoys dressing in her own style, very conservative, but her own style. These ADULTS at this school treated her like she was a toxic threat. The had a problem mostly with her hair because it is two different colors (black and white). She had to wear a uniform like everyone else, but there were no rule set in place at the time that said students couldn't have different colored hair, so they couldn't legally do anything about her hair, so they punished her on a daily basis by treating her extremely disrespectfully. The students were on the other hand amazing sweet people who saw my daughter for what she truly is, a sweet intelligent young lady. The adults at this school are not to be believed, petty, immature, clannish people. If you are not from south georgia expect to be treated horribly!
