We have had our kids (of various ages) attend many different public and private schools in Roswell and Alpharetta. Mountain Park is by far our favorite school so far. The teachers have been fantastic and the school's leadership is talented and seems to truly care about the kids. Our youngest has been there since kindergarten will attend 5th grade there next year. Fantastic school!

I've constantly be amazed at how much focus MPE staff puts on characater as well as academics. This past summer my 11 year old reminded my 6 years old to not take things personally, because it's part of the 4 agreements at MPE. The 4 Agreements are Be Impeccable with your Word, Don't take things Personally, Don't make assumptions, and Do your Best. The kids also follow the Mustang TRAIL acronym which stands for Trustworthy, Respectful, Act Responsibly, I show good citizenship, and Leadership.

We have one child that has completed six years at MPE, and he is off to a very strong start at Crabapple Middle School. The staff at MPE prepared him well for the academics in middle school, and the organizational challenges. He is taking ownership of his education, and rising to the challenges of middle school. We love the pride he takes in his grades, and we know the environment and staff at MPE contributed this core value. Our daughter is still at MPE and LOVES going to school everyday. MPE students receive a fantastic balance of nurture and inspiration to learn!
I just can't say enough about this school. The parents are very active and involved, and the staff is spectacular. It's an amazing community, with a really special, one of kind MPE!!!!

I have three children at MPE, and they LOVE going to school each day. It is amazing what they come home discussing, especially in regard to science and math, and the project based learning creates a lasting impression on each of them. We tell everyone how much we love this school!

Our principal is passionate and cares deeply about student success. She is open to new and creative ideas, and she makes herself available to parents (and students!) who have concerns or ideas. She has done an excellent job of implementing Design Thinking in all areas of school governance, which has fostered user-focused innovations.

We have never had a teacher at MPE who did not go above and beyond for my kids. One child has been there four years, and the other one year. Every year our teachers go the extra mile to show that they care about our kids, they communicate with us, and our kids show significant learning growth. Kids at MPE are allowed to progress at their own rate and are challenged no matter where they are.

The Principal, Assistant Principal and the rest of their team knows each child that goes to the school by name. Because they care enough to get to know each child, they are able to place their students with the teachers that work best for them. Students feel heard and feel safe coming to a school where they are treated as students and not just a number.

Each grade level has at least one classroom of a two-teacher-team to help students who may have learning differences but are mainstreamed. Students also have the opportunity to have another facilitator work one-on-one with them to help them with their reading or writing or whatever they may need help with so they can learn at their own pace. Our special needs preschool and special needs classes are supported by small class sizes with enough teachers to help support each student.

Through regular classes with the student counselors as well as the anti-bullying program at the school, students learn what to do if they see bullying happen as well as what is considered bullying. MPE takes bullying extremely seriously and works hard to make sure our students are equipped with the tools to know what to do through our BE the Voice program.

Character and developing compassion and respect are big deals in our family. It's something that we as parents feel strongly about. Luckily, the team at MPE feel the same way and from student council to the Interact club to having kids read to the special needs classes and more, students have the opportunity to work on their character and leave MPE not only as better students but better people.

Moving from an East Cobb school in a highly sought-after district to a school district in Roswell three years ago was a bit nerve-wracking. While we had heard wonderful things about MPE, we still weren't sure what to expect as far as education. My older son was upset to be leaving his school and we were nervous that he wouldn't receive the same quality education that he did in East Cobb. We couldn't have been more wrong. From the first day of his first year at MPE, we have been so impressed by the teachers, the staff and the leadership team. Our sons quickly acclimated to MPE and now my older one loves it more than his old school. In fact, he is sad to be going into 5th grade as he doesn't want to leave MPE because he loves it so much. The teachers are absolutely amazing and my boys have had an even better education than they were receiving at our old school. The leadership team hires teachers who aren't just there to teach but to help the kids grow and become well-rounded. While MPE is a large school of around 800 kids, it feels like a smaller school and does, in fact, feel like a family. We have amazing parents who are involved whether it be as a room parent, a Book Fair volunteer, a PTA Board member or something else there is something for everyone to be involved as much as they want to be. To be a parent at MPE and be able to watch your children learn and grow is truly an amazing experience.

A few years ago, homework was getting out of hand. The principal heard the pleas of the parents and not only created parent surveys and focus groups but worked with the teachers afterwards to find a great solution that would please nearly all of the students, parents and teachers. My children aren't annoyed about the amount of homework they have anymore and it's been great to see the trend from where it was to where it is now.

To say that my sons have loved all of their teachers is an understatement. They are so sad at the end of each school year as that means that they are leaving their wonderful, caring teachers. They go out of their way to visit them the following year. As a parent, the partnerships that I've had with each of their teachers is a treat. I am constantly amazed at the tidbits of information that my sons come home with that I know I never learned in elementary school.

We have had 5 kids at Mt Park and love this school. The individual care that our children, and all children receive is exceptional. Our two younger kids needed extra attention and boy did they get it. Teachers took the kids under their wings and still their teachers from years back take them to the movies or breakfast. They aren't paid to do that, they just do it.

We have had 5 children at this school and the average teachers care and care for the kids and love and work with the children. The great teachers are phenomenal. I can tell stories for days of what some teachers have done to assist our kids and welcome them to a warm, safe learning environment.

This school is awesome! I moved in 2003 so that both of my children would be able to attend this school. My kids are now a Junior at Roswell High School and a Seventh Grader at Crabapple Middle. I cannot say enough about the teachers, staff and of course the other parents! My kids are well adjusted, smart, organized and hard working. They have excelled at Middle and High School and I attribute that to the learning they received at Mountain Park!

We have moved a few times to various states during my kids' elementary school years. All of our school experiences were positive, but Mountain Park is exceptional! The principal offers a morning coffee regularly to allow parents to ask questions as well as educate interested parents in what the school is doing to continue to improve how they are educating our kids. She answers parents' questions and is a wealth of knowledge with curriculum and learning methods. The staff that I've interacted with are caring, hardworking, organized, and supportive. I have considered all sorts of schooling options and am so happy to be at this school.

This is an amazing school that we are so grateful to have for our children! I have been an educator myself in three different states over the years and have been in many school buildings. This school and its staff are top notch! There is an amazing community of staff and families at Mountain Park. They treat our child like family. Our classroom teachers and staff have all been great over the years. It is awesome to see your child excited to go to school every day and see how much they are growing academically, socially, and emotionally as a person due to the great education they are receiving.

It is unfortunate that this school is not able to provide children who excel, but do not quite make the "TAG" cut, with a more challenging curriculum. My son attended kindergarten at MPE. He consistently performed above average and was assessed for TAG based on classroom performance and initial test scores. However, he did not "make the cut" as I said, yet there were no other opportunities for him to be challenged. He quite honestly hated school while attending MPE because in his words, he was "bored". This was sad for us as the school is very close to our home, the families were wonderful, etc., but our child did not enjoy his experience. With this said, we decided to send him to a private school where every child is above average and excelling and thus he is getting the challenging curriculum he needs, in a smaller environment with lots of extracurricular offerings as well. Considering our tax dollars support MPE, we were very disappointed. As some posters have said, the average or above average students at MPE get lost in the crowd and are left with no real opportunities to grow academically.

Mountain Park is a wonderful environment for children to grow and develop as people, while also learning what they will need to know for life! The principal is very involved and hands-on and even knows every student's name. The teachers are warm and caring and the parapros and support staff are top notch! We have been blessed to have three children there and we have been very pleased. We appreciate the rational approach to learning and the many opportunities for fun!

The teachers are a mixed bag at this school, as is the case at any school. My children had their share of excellent, motivating, caring, fair teachers, and a couple who need to be arrested for child abuse. The academic atmosphere is challenging, and my children overall received a good education there. However, my children are average students. Yes, the dreaded "a" word. TAG students are waved through like they are celebrities. Special needs kids also seem to get plenty of resource attention. The average students are totally caught in an endless loop of indifference. There is a pigeonholing that happens in K and 1st grade. If your child isn't identified as talented/gifted by then, they don't stand a chance for any kind of accolade. Unfortunately, I think this is the Roswell mentality, so the grass is probably not greener anywhere else here.

The good news is that by high school, no one cares whether your kid was on Safety Patrol or not.

I have a Kindergartner and 2nd grader at MPE and will have another joining in the Fall of 2016 and I couldn't be happier. The Kindergarten class is hands on, interactive and fun but yet educational - they haven't lost the idea that these are still just little 5 & 6 year olds that need to have fun and get the energy out but learn at the same time. I am also very happy with the 2nd grade curriculum. My daughter is learning so much but haven't fun at the same time. I am also very pleased with the Project Based Learning curriculum that they have adopted. They move around to the different classrooms which means time with different teachers and my child is always coming home telling me what she learned. The school is also an easy place to get involved and the staff is always willing to listen and help.

While we recognize everyone has different experiences, this school has been a poor at best experience for us. We have been forced to seek private tutoring for both of our children so they have the necessary foundation to be successful. We have had quite a few negative social experiences as well with bullying that were not properly handled in our opinion. Leadership is motivated by public perception and a lot of resources are devoted to awards and recognition that would be better utilized in the classrooms.

MPE provides a top notch education in a nurturing environment. Any concern we've ever had has been addressed quickly and to our satisfaction. The school is moving in a progressive direction with project based learning. Our children and family are very happy there.

We have two children who attend Mountain Park. MPE is a warm, non-limiting, supportive school/community where our children thrive. The PTA is all inclusive and hardly asks for money as they run an annual fundraiser.We love not having to sell wrapping paper to the neighborhood. The teachers have high expectations and the children are kind. One of our children has some special issues and the staff has been nothing but supportive. We feel that this is the only community for us.

I have had the most awesome experience as a parent of a student at Mountain Park. My student started in kindergarten and was identified as a student with some reading weakness. She was taught strategies throughout her elementary years that enabled her to succeed in her middle school and high school academics. I have no doubt she would not be as successful as she is had it not been for the team of dedicated admin, teachers, and support staff at Mountain Park. This not only helped her academically but built her self -esteem and continues to empower her as she attempts new things. This school continues to reach out to alumni for different programs for the current elementary students to feel a part of their future high school. The community is warm and welcoming to all. I feel blessed to have had my child become a part of the Mustang family.

I placed my child at MPE under the open enrollment program for Fulton county. This was the worst mistake. Like previous comments I can also confirm that this school is score driven. If your child didn't start here from Kindergarten to be molded into a robot your child isn't teachable without being medicated or tested for medication. The Math curriculum is at least 2 grades higher than the grade students are in and even the staff stated it was a ridiculous curriculum. I can also say that parents are cliquish and the school is controlled by the donations they encourage ALL THE TIME. If you don't fit the "Stepford" child criteria your child will have problems. There is also a bullying problem that is overlooked even when addressed to staff. After my child was pushed into muddy water by another student his pants, shoes and socks stayed soaking wet all day from 11:45 a.m. until the end of the school day. No note was sent from the teacher I found out from my child who told her at school. There have been too many incidents to list...Just go to another school. Sweet Apple Elem. is very good my other child was placed there this will be my childs last year at MPE.

I am actually a parent and a teacher. I started teaching at MPE last year and felt instantly at home the day I walked into the door. The front office staff is wonderful. They are so friendly and helpful. I have worked at quite a few schools in Fulton County, and this is one of my favorites. I was so happy with the school that I chose to send my daughter there this year. The school has a family environment. The teachers and staff at MPE are amazing! They work hard to make sure the students are challenged, needs are met, and that they feel loved. The administration is wonderful! They are positive and supportive, and work hard to make sure the school is a good place to be. I love the school so much that I am thinking about moving, so it is my children's home school. MPE is a great place to work and to send your children!

Our children attended a local private school before transferring to Mountain Park Elementary. Once we did, we wondered why we were throwing our money away. The quality of education and personal attention that each of my 6 children have received is incomparable. The administration has been quick to respond to any concerns that have arisen, and as my older children move on to the local middle and high schools, they have done so well-prepared for the challenge. The staff always seems positive and encouraging. They care for each child, and it feels like they are as proud to be at Mountain Park as my children are.

It's so sad to see a once flourishing school decline as MPE has. Just a few years ago it regularly ranked in the top 10-15 GA elementary schools on every education website and now is barely in the top 30. And for valid reasons. While there is always a friendly veneer, once you scratch the surface, the cracks begin to show. Even after six years, I can't precisely pinpoint the root cause but I can definitely say the tension, anxiety and increasingly low morale throughout the staff has compromised MPE's former greatness and subtly contaminated the learning environment. Aside from the obvious detriment to the students, it's also just heart-breaking to watch such truly exceptional teachers become so demoralized. In the two years since I followed my gut and moved my children to another school, I'm able to see and feel a stark difference in both the general "atmosphere" and more importantly, the positive and relaxed attitude in the kids. While I don't know what caused the seismic change (becoming a charter school?), I am sure there was one. I just regret drinking the Kool-Aid for too long.

Mountain Park Elementary is an outstanding public school. We have 3 children who have attended (or currently attending) and cannot speak more highly of the staff, teachers and quality of education. We have the option of private school or homeschooling but cannot imagine a better education for our children. Strong parent involvement and leadership working alongside the staff ensures quality programs, extracurricular activities and many 'extras'. Any issues we have had were quickly resolved with the help of supportive staff and administration.

Wonderful teachers, supportive families, and hard-working students make this school stand out as an exceptional school. The school is lucky to have people falling over themselves to help make the school the success that it is, but it's teachers like Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. Brock, a principal like Mrs. Pearlman, and exceptional staff members that inspire families to feel so compassionate about MPE. We moved to Georgia from WA state and sought out the best schools we could find. MPE has surpassed those expectations. The students are well-behaved, and this has allowed my daughter's teachers to pay attention to her individual challenges and shape her learning in such a way that has enabled her to engage in advanced reading and math groups. We will be moving soon, and we will all miss this wonderful, creative, academically-focused school.

From the moment we arrived I knew this school was the right choice for our family. We were welcomed by the office staff, very impressed by the principal and couldn't be happier about the education my two children are receiving. The teachers truly care and keep us informed about the progress of both our son and daughter. We had heard about the great reputation of this school. Now we know firsthand that it was all true. I feel like we're getting a private school education in this gem of a public school. See it for yourself!

MPE a phenomenal school. I have no doubt that my children are receiving a high quality education. There is an electronic newsletter that is published every few weeks which keeps me abreast of the activities at MPE. The teachers don't send lots of information home, but on a whole they are responsive to email and almost always available to meet with me if I have a concern. This school is by no means perfect, but, the MPE staff appears committed to correcting imperfections and moving this school forward. If I had to pinpoint an area of improvement I would actually say that the school doesn't push the students to their capabilities. I feel that the students could probably handle a more rigorous curriculum.

We just started this school and from what I have seen is more than the private preK-8 school we attended. The teachers genuinely like and care that the students do well all the way to the principal who is often in car line. Also, the teachers inspire rather than just teach and the facilities are up to date and fairly well kept. We look forward to graduating here in 6 years!

We are outsiders (from the North) and we have been welcomed in the classroom, by the pta and the administration. I have a very bright, charming and challenging child (with behavior challenges) and his second year here, in the first week of school, three teachers contacted us telling us that he was so bright in math that he needed to be in the advanced class and put the wheels in motion to get him where he could succeed and excel. They are really looking out for him! I have found the parents to be super involved-- in a good way and love that there are many volunteer opportunities for the working and not-working-outside-the-home parents. The pta is very inclusive and is supportive to new ideas and programs. The administration is also very supportive and provide many opportunities to voice your opinion and get the skinny on what the school's plans, goals etc are. It has been a great experience and we are very grateful to be here!

I just finished my 8th year at MPE with two more years left. I love MPE and have volunteered for many years in the classroom and with the PTA. My three children have received a strong, well-prepared, and well-rounded education. The Principal, Ms. Stacy Perlman and Assistant Principal, Ms. Mary Ellen Robson, are dedicated, involved & engaged with the students and with school activities. There is never a day when your child will not be greeted with a smile and by name from each. The PTA volunteers are passionate and hard-working. They may seem cliquish, but that s because they are focused on helping the school-please volunteer! On a final note, Ms. Perlman asked the 5th graders to write thoughts about leaving MPE this year. My daughter wrote the following: What is the best thing about MPE? The friends we all share and laugh together with. What is your advice for your teachers and principals? Our 5th grade year has constructed and changed our behavior toward education and we will remember that thanks to you. What is your advice for younger students? Focus on your goals so you may achieve confidence in time and live to your potential. Yes, MPE is a great school!

Mountain Park Elementary provides not only stellar education, but also a community of caring people as well. Recently our daughter experienced a difficult injury and the entire staff rallied to support her and provide the best support possible. She was provided with home teaching that actually enabled her to get ahead! They've never given me a hard time about taking her out of school for the subsequent doctors appts and therapy. MPES understands that her health is our first priority, her spirits my second. They provides excellent education, care and supoprt to our community.

Most of the families in Mt. Park community live in 1980's. These people are so behind the world. They are concentrated on scores without teaching their kids real values. Don't come to this school as there is nothing to give to your child here other than training him to pass the tests. Some teachers are not professional at all.

Mountain Park Elementary has always had a stellar reputation in Fulton County. That reputation has only improved under the current leadership. Of course test scores are important and those scores are why most parents in this community choose/chose that school. If anyone denies that, then he/she is not being honest. I am honored to be associated with Mountain Park Elementary. In my opinion, everything "seems" to be working just as we would hope.

This school has both good and bad teachers. The reality is that the administration and teachers seam to focus only on test scores. They put lots of priorities on money, money, money, how to keep it and how to get more. We have been lied to, we have not been given answers to questions and had teachers telling us to put our child on drugs. Watch this school carefully and talk to lots of other parents about it.

Mountain Park Elementary has been a wonderful experience for my two children from K through 5th grade. The teachers were excellent and had very high expectations. The current leadership in place is outstanding and is setting even more challenging goals for Mountain Park. Anytime we had an issue of concern, the teachers and administration took care of the situation immediately. Mountain Park is truly a great all around school.

We moved to be in this school district after a dismal experience at a Cobb County private school two years ago. Overall, we are very pleased with Mountain Park Elementary, as an academic institution and as an active part of the communities and neighborhoods that feed it. I am a person of color and have felt no ostracization whatsoever. I volunteer from time to time, and though I do not socialize in these "cliques" (which I see as groupings based on familiarity through volunteering), I do not feel like an outsider. Most importantly, my children are getting what they need from their school.

Mountain Park is a wonderful learning environment. The school has in place many extra programs to enhance the learning experience beyond the basics. The teachers and staff care about the kids and want every child to do well. The PTA is active and all that is done is for betterment of the school and the kids. It is a very family friendly environment where kids can excel. Parent participation is encouraged at all grade levels. My family and I love this school, the teachers and staff.

The goal of the management is to get maximum donations and volunteers. All the rest, including children s education, is on private afterschool math and reading programs and parents. It's not a good place for kids who think outside the box, who have seen different cultures. Conformity and mediocrity rule. There is a lot of parent involvement, but the moms are pretty cliquish. Helps to be white and not working. Again, not a horrible place, but not as great as they think they are, either.
