As a transgender female teacher, I have received nothing but discriminatory treatment by the principal and other staff members. And that is all because I am a transgender teacher. If you have children that are queer or transitioning into living a life in the opposite gender of the one they were assigned then I would reconsider enrolling my children in Waianae high School. It's funny though because the vast majority of transgender women on Oahu live down here on the West side or they came from this area.

I Love this school more than any school I've ever been too. I am a proud Searider and I love this school. Being a student from that school is an honor, having the name as a Proud Searider is an honor and a privilege for me. I am grateful. I love this school and I love the Westside. W Foreva <3

My daughter attended this school for her first two years of high school. While I admit Waianae has unique challenges, I am proud of the school and what my daughter took out of her time there. I volunteer at this school and have to say the teachers I had the great pleasure of meeting are truly there for the students. They are enthusiastic and have such high hopes for each students potential. I would like to see the community give back to the school. I feel with some new equipment and a facelift(particularly the gym, library and pool) the students would strive to show the rest of the State that they are capable and smart and worthwhile. In my opinion the public underestimates the possibilities for Waianae High. My child always tested high in the State Test and as a year ten student did fantastic on the college entrance examination.

Graduating with honors from this apparently easy school is more difficult then ever now...Idk how anyone could ever get an easy A in this schoo nowadays...and the school`s students seem to have lost school spirit while they were being too cool for anything. Other then the lack of school spirit, and graduating with honors requirements are rediculous, I still love this school and am thankfull for the people unseen who dedicate hours of hard work into trying to make these grounds a better place for our community. Weather it in the classroom or out.

I went to this school cominh from the mainland and its basically an easy A. Skip school no calls made home its a good school for baf kids. If you wanna actually learn something i wouldnt recommend this school it should be a school for all special ed even though 99% of these locals arent so bright the AP claases in waianae are regular classrs in the mainland so your child being in AP classes is not advancing its your child have more common sense than others book wise. But waianae is overall a school for the slow folks with no commonsense lack a lot of qualities ppl should have including how to speak and write .which shows in the test scores waianae really needs to improve.

Most of the students, parents and teachers at Waianae High School are the absolute best. I have not met the principal; neither has my child, who is in her third year at WHS. None of her friends that I have met knows who the principal is either. The discipline in most classrooms is practically non-existent, and therein lies the problem with Waianae High School. While many students are trying to listen and learn in class, others are talking and being disruptive, which inhibits a learning environment. It seems there may be a perception by the teachers, that if they send these disruptive students to the office for discipline, the teachers will be accused of not being able to control their class. Well, they cannot control students who know they are safe from being referred for discipline. For Waianae to become a five star school, the administration must encourage teachers to strive for a learning environment which allows student to concentrate on their studies (a quiet classroom), and then back the teachers up with firm action.
