My children lasted one week here before my husband and I ripped them out. The office staff seems like they absolutely hate their jobs and parents. The kids there don’t care for children that are white and my boys were targeted in the bathroom based on that alone. Physically target by kids they had never seen or spoken to before. We bought a home in Ewa and love our home and neighbors but the schools are awful. Thankfully we can do private. James Campbells solution to bullying of children is during breaks and lunches, for them to join the other white children outside a teachers classroom every day and stick together in hopes that they wouldn’t be bullied or hurt. They couldn’t even use the bathroom alone without being harassed. There’s a reason they have a uniform dress code there. The kids are unruly and the parents are even worse. We now commute our children to a safer school on the other side of the island where uniforms aren’t required and they are safe and haven’t had one incident since James Campbell. The place is an absolute disgrace to education.

Lets get into some context. One teacher sent home a picture of what looked like Bin Laden holding up the twin towers with planes crashing into them and asked the 9th graders to color it..... what exactly are you teaching? Another parent complained about her son did a project board on the bombings of pearl harbor and because his backround colors were yellow and light blue he received a C for lack of creativity. Even though the content on the board/research was spot on.

Children are bullied, harassed and assaulted and the principal doesn't care unless you are local Hawaiian or an esteemed member of the community. A freshman girl was picked up by a senior boy and body slammed- not suspended. Another mom posted that her son was slapped repeatedly by a girl in class and again not suspended. Another mom posted how her son was shoved off his bike on campus and was told since he was leaving school grounds the school could not do anything about it.

James Campbell is by far the worst school I have ever had to deal with in my 20+ years in the military. It saddens me that I fight for my country for my children to have to endure this, and the poor parents that reached out to me and told me their horror stories of what they also have had to endure as well.

There is no homework. The teachers assign projects every 2-3 weeks and allow the students to work on them at school and on their own. So they basically do nothing during the day and our children suffer from it.

Personal experience of course. The bare minimum was done when not just one person but my entire class of 2019 was apart of it as well.

This school sucks, it’s hot, they have terrible leadership skills and take no ownership in mistakes to improve them.

8/10, I love Campbell because it's my school. If you want some preppy private school, this isn't the place, but if you want your kid to thrive and grow, become a saber (seriously I hope this helps some of you guys wondering if you should come to Campbell)

It honestly depends on which teachers you have, the upperclass teachers are pretty good, but with freshman and sophomore teachers it's a crapshoot. That being said, I have not had any "really bad" teachers in my time here.

Principle is NEVER on campus. Don t bother to try to get her to address an issue, she s only good at delegation, and her underlings are good at it too. If you want a problem solved, escalate it to the superintendant. Teachers scream for parental involvement, until they get it. Good in theory, poor in reality? Not all the teacher s are lazy, but dealing with 8-16 teachers a year between the two kids, maybe I just have bad luck probably not. Right now I know of one fantastic teacher, she had both my kids, I wish we could clone her! She s in the English department. Drugs are everywhere. It wasn t the DARE class they got that makes them know what drugs are all about you can smell it in the air. I ve seen drug deals happen at the park across the street if I can see them, why can t the cop that is sitting in the car next to me? T-shirts with a Campbell logo as dress code the girls made so thin you can see their bras through them, only required to be worn in the classroom. They need to be required to be worn in/out of the classroom so anyone without one on is easily identifiable. Speaking of security, four guys riding around in golf carts does not a security team make.

The criteria used (i.e. age of school and overpopulation) to rate a school is ridiculous. Harvard was established in 1636. UCLA has undergrad English classes at under 500 per class. A more useful criteria is how many students received scholarships to major universities or average SAT score etc. I'd prefer if parents posted more useful rating criteria as the prior comment about age of school and overpopulation was a complete waste of time.

My child will attend the school August 5 2013, school is old, overpopulated. Just waiting on inputs from my child once she starts.
