Keolu Elementary School

Keolu Elementary is a good school with an average class size of 13 to 15 students per class. Principal Gay Kong has done a great job of recruiting outstanding teachers. The test scores have improved and the 5 rating shown on the school reports are way out of line. My son has attended Keolu since kindergarten and now he is in the 5th grade. He has blossomed at Keolu Elementary. I would say a fair rating would be an 8.

My son went here for Preschool, his teachers Mr. Kojiro and Ms. Karen were great. When he first started going there, he was a little scared and stressed because his dad had just deployed (USMC), but his teachers and the office all worked with him and he ended up BLOSSOMING! He is such an OUTGOING, SMART, OBSERVANT child! I couldn't thank this school enough. We only took him out of the school because we live closer to another elementary. I would definitely recommend this school to family and friends!

At the end of his time spent in keolu, he came out of that school telling me how he wants to be a doctor and also go to mars. I believe his teachers are very effective

My son was in preK and was not really assigned homework. He would get some here

Starting at this school my son was not used to being around children his age but they worked with him and taught him alternatives on how to problem solve and also were very informing to keep myself in the loop. They truly are ohana!

FYI this school is using Common Core as of 2013-2014 year. But teachers, students and staff are good.

Great principal, teachers and staff. Very small school and small class size. Test scores have been going up every year for the past several years and now rank pretty high among other elementary schools. Prinicpal transferred from Aikahi, another excellent school. My daughters teacher is excellent, very well educated, and has performed miracles on my daughter. She is thriving. The only draw back to the school is the general apathy of the majority of the parents. Which says that much more about the staff.
