As an alumni of this high school, I can say that my overall honest experience was disappointing and concerning.

Throughout my four years, I often felt overlooked, particularly in situations involving student well-being and support. There were instances where medical concerns were not taken seriously and whenever I reported bullying—did not appear to be adequately addressed.
I also felt that academic support was terribly inconsistent, and that students were not always given the guidance or attention needed to succeed. While there were certainly some dedicated and supportive teachers, my feedback reflects the broader environment and overall system rather than individual staff members. Whenever I think back to my highschool years, I can't help but feel uncomfortable with how I was treated and how it hasn't positively benefited myself in life.

Based on my experience, I would hesitate to recommend this school to those seeking a supportive, responsive, and student-centered educational environment.

Aiea has improved so much over the years. The best part is the community and staff. They really dedicate themselves to helping students.

Aiea Highschool, is a school that is different from a typical highschool, it has changed more in the last three years then at any point in its small history; yes not all teachers at the school are great but the ones who are, they are remarkable, they love what they do and actually care for us; even when they dont show it, Aiea may not be the smartest, strongest, nor does it have the best funding however thats what makes us unique; the underdogs of the island of Hawai'i and the future of the next generation

It is a smaller public high school so everybody makes friends and finds their group. Some sports are very competitive. All in all, it depends on what you yourself makes of it. The staff is willing to help you when it comes to college and your education but don't expect to be baby-fed. Aiea teaches you and will guide you on keeping your head in the game, as long as you are willing to do your part.

Worse school on the island, they don't pay attention to any of the special Ed kids don't have meetings with parents no JV football team the whole staff there are careless selfish people they only take care of there kind and the rest of the kids are garbage to them never in my life have I hated a school so much.

This school is not very friendly to SPED children. I was a SPED kid myself, I should know. Teachers like to condescend on students and treat them like they're helpless. I wouldn't think babying SPED students provides them with a sense of self-esteem. And the school has gone through many changes in authority, mostly on the teaching level. Teachers have been replaced quite easily over the years, which I think could attribute to the lack of educated adults in Hawaii. All the old teachers remain employed, no matter how bad they are, and the new ones are judged more harshly, whether they're good or not. It's a terrible system, and any school, such as this one, will naturally be a terrible school.

Some of the administration behave unprofessional. The office is unorganized on purpose because they don't want to support the new Principal. Some of them will actually solicit help from the parents to spread the disapproval of the Principal. One counselor actually yells the students instead of helping them. The office will screw up some students meals and solicit help from students using the scanner to inaccurately read an I.D. so a student can not eat . It is really sad because the kids there are good.

It is a school that focuses on athletes and keeping the curriculum low so they can participate in games. The students are great, but the staff is lacking in the office. There are maybe three outstanding and caring teachers and that's it.

I'm torn as to whether or not this school deserves a noteworthy grade. Though some teachers are smart, and grading tends to be balanced, a key striking point is the way in which the school is run. The bias administration allows for certain members of the student body to do as pleased while others are forced to abide by the school regulations. They're inconsistent in making sure rules are followed, aren't very smart with judgment in key situations, and need some help in organizing the school. Luckily, the students themselves tend to be very nice and friendly, allowing for a more feasible environment for work to be done.

I am ashamed to say I'm an alumni of AHS. My child currently attends AHS and I am very disappointed with their organization and communication skills. It all starts with their leaders, they are not for their students. Instead of building them up, they knock them down. FYI, not all teenagers are punks and gang member so don't treat them as such.

Despite the lack of leadership at Aiea High School, my child has had some outstanding teachers. I am concerned with the principal and the poor way he handles issues at the school.
