I rated Kaimuki HS 4 stars because every school always has room for improvement. Kaimuki has a drastically dropped in enrollment, therefore, each student gets more attention, which is a great thing! The class sizes are smaller, yet the campus is spacious. Kaimuki offers that one-on-one learning due to the student to teacher ratio. Some teachers will make calls to let you know your child's whereabouts or concerns, some will not, which is common now days, so it's imperative you keep up with your child's wellbeing, and every other item going on with them. Kaimuki is listed with low scores but that's not the case with the student's education level. The low scores are caused mainly by Kaimuki HS being the top school with the highest amount of ESL Students. Kaimuki is currently restructuring their curriculum, and the Board of Education hopes to reflect actual education level scores. Kaimuki has always been extremely talented in all sports, winning many Championships in their division. Kaimuki has an amazing Theatre Program who performs plays throughout the year for both the school and the Public. I do not regret pulling my son out of a private school to attend Kaimuki, he has built relationships and has gained humbling characteristics that isn't taught in the classroom. Kaimuki students are very humble, extremely kind and takes very good care of each other.

This is a small school, that tries its best. The student population is known by all the staff, and cared for deeply. The school is like a family that looks after each other.

I would recommend Kaimuki High School to anyone who is not only lives in the neighborhood, but to people who want to have their child have a more personalized education. Parent involvement is very welcome, and encouraged.

I feel that overall the students here are really kind, and when you get to know them, they are like family. I also feel that the academies are a little rude as they are higher class academies and lower class academies. STEAM would rank as high attendance and gpa, and hospitality 2nd. I feel that being in an academy where people can look down on you is a little sad. But in terms of education and friendships, they are all the same, and will pass you if you try your best. This school may seem like they don't have money, but that is because they don't ask for things like other high income schools do. Me transferring from Kaimuki Middle, to this school, I feel that they don't expect us to bring in different materials that are costly for us and the school. Tutors are not usually needed, as the school doesn't force the students to work super hard.

The school is split up into academies, and they all have different pathways depending on the type of career your child will want to follow in. The academies are STEAM, Hospitality, and Entertainment.

No teacher is perfect, some of the teachers here do not give homework, and some give enough, but it all depends on the type of academy your student will want to go into.

In the freshman year, students will be taking a class that will help them to grow and learn about the different academies, they take tours through the academies, and will learn about the goals and plans within the academy. STEAM shows intelligence and skill, Hospitality shows ways that we can give back to the community, and Entertainment teaches the students about Polynesian music and the art of different cultures.

This school has a good leadership club, and they help students grow in terms of leadership, they work together to plan meetings and to manage current events happening at the school.

There is a specific academy for students with learning differences, called the "Bulldog Academy", where students who do have learning differences may go, and be assisted by loving teachers, as they progress through the years of High School. The students are very positive towards them and will always say Hi as students walk by. Hospitality also encourages them to socialize by having events throughout the school such as pop up carnivals and seasonal activities for the students, to make them feel welcomed and wanted. A perfect description of the "no child left behind" term.

This school has a few fights a month break out at the school, and generally it may be disturbing for some students who are scared. The school is close with the police and will not tolerate any acts of bullying, and will arrest if they have to.

Looks like the school could use MORE PARENT VOLUNTEERS... Stop complaining Moms/Dads-- and support your kids by being more involved in establishing positive solutions than griping

When a counselor made an inappropriate conversation with my daughter the school lashed out at my family and tried to have me arrested. Instead of addressing the issue. Needless to say, they cannot handle criticism. I was never arrested and reported the incident to the Board of Education. hey did however cause my daughter to endure three days of foster care because of this. It was a traumatic experience for her.
