My son went to Hokulani for 6 years. Hes a 7th grader now. He had fun at Hokulani learning the importance of values and compassion as well as academics. He enjoyed art, music, drama, Japanese, Spanish, PE, Math team, Hawaiiana, Library activities, Science fair, MIni Society Market day, Computer, and core courses. Teachers are loving, encouraging, and passionate about students total well-being. They are great at cheering for and sharing students achievements and good behaviors.
Staff and faculty at Hokulani work tirelessly to create and provide a safe, fun, and respectful learning environment to students. Parents and families have many opportunities to get involved in various activities with their children, learning and creating memories together. When my son was attending Hokulani, students enjoyed Fall Fair, Fun Run, School Beautification, Movie nights and Family activity nights, Moon & Stargazing with telescopes, and many Book Fairs that involved students and families to work together, bond and feel a strong sense of belonging in the community. We are grateful for the experiences, memories, and learning my son and my family had at Hokulani.

So impressed how everyone has dealt with this crazy year! My daughter was suffering, like most kids were, being at home during this pandemic. I respected the safety precautions before being them back to school - but before then I raised some concerns about how my daughter was performing. They listened, and didnt use the pandemic as an excuse. As a team - her teacher, the special ed teacher, and the principal came up with a plan to help my daughter enjoy learning again.
We have been at the school since kindergarten and all of those teachers support my child even though she isnt in their classroom. It really is a special school where everyone knows her name. When staff greets my child in the morning, it really makes me feel like we made the right choice getting a GE to this small , special gem of a school.

My kid attended this school from K to 5th grade. The early years were good. Later it becomes a real nightmare.

The Principal at that time was amazing role model for students and even us parents. She recognized every kids with their names in the first morning. I was amazed and will never forget her motivation.

I thought my son was average artist but Hokulani teachers taught him how to express himself to the art. His art was awarded by major art association.

I dont recall any serious bullying. Kids were getting along. Maybe because its a small school.

I thought Teachers gave each student attention very carefully but Its never been a Critical one. They accept and respect each uniqueness.

Unfortunately I didnt see any schools as good as Hokulani since my son graduated here. A locally named private school he attended 6-12 wasnt even close to this tiny public school. Probably money can buy great education but I learned its not working for all. I guess money cant buy the true passion for developing a real person. Now hes a college student, and Im a aged mom. After those days I bumped into this great opportunity for reviewing the experiences at Hokulani school and made me realized many good things about this school. Im really appreciated for all personnel in the campus who dedicates their life to students and parents.

Well behaved students overall, it's a small school and your child will eventually get to know everyone. So many great teachers, but your child's experience really depends on which teacher you get. My older one had an amazing 1st and 2nd grade teachers (although both are not there anymore), my younger one was not so lucky in Kinder. This teacher gave her all "moderate" report card score on all the things on her 1st page all throughout year, no improvements at all in the entire year (really?). Rest of her report card score in reading and math (counting) went down toward the end of year even though she is at a much higher grade level in both. Hokulani was once a great school, but with some of the changes happening now, I feel that is is slowly going down.

We are very satisfied with the education our three children have received at Hokulani School. The homework load is rather heavy and parents need to be on top of things by spending time and going over it with their children. I found the teachers to be very responsive to any concerns and questions regarding our children's homework, academic progress and overall well being in school. The students are well mannered and there is careful monitoring of student behavior and conduct by the teachers and staff in order to maintain a positive learning environment. Hokulani recently received a national "Blue Ribbon" award for academic excellence in 2012. Mahalo, to the teachers and staff at Hokulani School!

RE: This school is great for older children If I may ask, who was your child's K Teacher?
